Bolton Lied to Congress

Rumors are swirling that President Bush plans to give John Bolton a recess appointment as United Nations ambassador when Congress takes its August recess, bypassing the Senate confirmation process that Bush himself has held up by refusing to release relevant documents about Bolton's record.
Now we learn that John Bolton is not only embroiled in the CIA leak scandal, but that he lied about it to Congress. Bolton said on a Senate questionnaire that he hasn't been involved in any investigations in the last five years, when in fact he was
interviewed by the State Department inspector general as part of a joint investigation with the Central Intelligence Agency into prewar Iraqi attempts to buy nuclear materials from Niger.
Bolton also testified in front of the grand jury investigating the leak.
It's more clear than ever that Bolton isn't the right man for the job of representing the United States at the UN.

Did he lie to the grand jury?
So, now the State Department says that Bolton didn't testify before the Fitzgerald grand jury on the Plame matter.
What's the truth to that? I don't think any statement for the Bush administration can be taken without a grain of salt.
From the AP news story:
"While the State Department and criminal investigations are independent, they spring from the same source — intelligence that Iraq was trying to buy materials in Africa to produce nuclear weapons."
That sounds like BS.
According to Yahoo, Bush is prepared to appoint Bolton at the recess despite this lie! Unbe-frickin-lievable!
As it turns out, Bolton is just one among all the President's men.
His lie to the Senate also ensures that "Ongoing Investigation" will remain #1 on the Billboard Top 10 GOP Sound Bites.
Obviously, if Bolton does get a recess appointment from Bush, despite lying to Congress,it will not only be the press that got the digit the other night, but Congress and the American people. Time to work for impeachment.
Poor management and supervisory skills, workplace abuse to subordinates, creating a hostile work environment, lying on a sworn affidavit, lying to a Senate Committee, possible lying to a grand jury??? And with all this our Idiot-in-Chief is going to give a recess appointment to this individual.
I missed something in my job training somewhere. I guess the motto though is: my way or the highway or no way at all.
J - don't forget Bolton's inability to meet with any foreign diplomat or world leader without offending him/her; and his blatant dislike of the U.N. with significant documentation supporting both of these. Yeah, he's a shoe-in for this position!!
It just goes to show the truth isn't in any republican, and you can't beat it out of them. I'd say if they look deeper, they'll find a huge amount of corruption from Bolton, to Bush. It's like the old saying, "The fish rots from the head down".
I tried to track back to this article from my blog and it failed. Is there a problem with the trackbacks?

will_m,
what bush wants to peddle (=appoint), rove computes to meddle (=swindle), and appointing bolton during a recess is one more example of "spending political capital." building a consensus is not this white-house's, so why should it apply to the united nations...instead, rove > bush > bolton, means rove will not only control the white-house but the united nations too? no i don't have an anwer, just perplexed how we came to this point and disgusted that good americans, among demos, repubs, and independents, became quagmired in their "spending political capital."
OK. I kinda sorta have a grip on the CIA leak scandal... now I like to think im somebody of somewhat high intelligence (at times, haha), but I read different things about the scandal, and get kind of caught up about different aspects of it. Now, I know as far as Bolton goes, he lied to the senate saying that he was never interviewed or never testified in Fitzgerald's investigation. But is that as far as it goes? If somebody who is more knowledgable about the whole scandal than I am could map out everything that happened, I think it would be a great thing that everybody could get behind. I'll put this in most of the blogs around here.
p.s.- I am a newly found democrat, and not even a year ago, I used to be a Republican. I really believe in what we are trying to do, and how our policies are much better for the country. So I guess in that respect, I really want a straight, simple, and truthful timeline of what the hell exactly happened. Thanks!
Please Senate Democrats take a stand!
