Oklahoma Democratic Party Partners with DNC; 3 Hired to Support 50 State Strategy
The Oklahoma Democratic Party's (ODP) partnership with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Chairman Howard Dean will help build a grassroots infrastructure in every jurisdiction of Oklahoma. The 2006 election cycle will feature a number of crucial races statewide, including a gubernatorial race, that makes the ODP even more pivotal in laying the foundation for victory.
To ensure success in Oklahoma, the DNC’s 50 State Strategy initative is providing three staff members to the ODP. All three are Oklahoma residents and will be paid by the DNC.
"The invaluable assistance that the DNC is providing to Oklahoma will pay dividends and produce real results in 2006 and 2008," said Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Lisa Pryor. "Governor Dean is living up to his promise to help state parties in all 50 states."
Pryor said regional field organizers will enable the ODP "to continue recruiting and training volunteers, and building our state party by invigorating our grassroots network."
DNC staff now working in Oklahoma include:
Amy Foster joins the Oklahoma Democratic Party as a Field Organizer. Amy holds degrees from both Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University School of Law, and has worked in Democratic politics in various capacities at the state, congressional and gubernatorial level for the past 5 years.
Teresa Hill joins the Oklahoma Democratic Party as a Field Organizer. She has been a Democratic grassroots organizer and coordinated successful GOTV campaigns. She has been involved in labor union committees and conventions on behalf of the people of Oklahoma. She was a delegate to the 2000 and 2004 National Democratic Conventions and is a past vice-chair of the Oklahoma County Democratic Party.
Jason McCarty joins the Oklahoma Democratic Party as Communications Director. He holds a journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma.
