Republicans in Washington and Juneau are Failing Alaska's Students
From the Alaska Democratic Party:
As Alaska students prepare to head back to school, a new report by the Center for American Progress shows the impact of President Bush's and Governor Murkowski's failed leadership on education.
The comprehensive report measuring educational progress across the country found that Alaska ranks 45th among all states on its high school graduation rate and 50th among the 50 states in academic readiness for college.
Of entering Alaska high-school freshmen, only 27% are considered academically ready for college four years later, compared to 34% nationally, according to the report, "Education: The State We're In."
Only 44% of Alaska high-school graduates enroll in college the following fall, while the national average is 57%. Only 20% of Alaska college freshmen earn a bachelor's degree, while a little more than half of all US college freshmen do so.

Governor Murkowski and his daughter Lisa (who he originally appointed to the US Senate) are probably confident that if they can get ANWR opened up nobody in Alaska will ever need to go to school. Dividends will jump back up to $2,000 a year and we can all live off of that for the rest of our lives. We certainly won't need education if we can lick the crumbs up from under their table.
A perfectly legitimate "let them eat cake" philosophy on life.

The Victims of the Storm on the East Coast didn't survive the cake they were fed by this Administration refusing to give the poor victims any help to get out of harms way? Then when they were trying to get away from all that water and debris, even when they were hurt and dying of sun strokes and heat strokes, THE Majority LET THEM EAT CAKE AGAIN? The cake the Administration gave them Septic poisoning, and Trauma Shock? And they died and still the Administration blamed them for not leaving when told? Never mind that they didn't have the funds nor the means to leave. The Administration just don't understand that, so the poor people die because those GREAT CHRISTIAN LEADERS WERE RESTING?
