Hurricane Katrina

Condi Finally Gets to Work

Posted by Josh McConaha on September 2, 2005 at 10:57 AM

This is nice to see...

The White House battled a chorus of criticism throughout the day as bloggers made much of the secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, vacationing in New York during the disaster, where she was spotted at a Broadway show and was to attend the U.S. Open. By Thursday evening, Ms. Rice had cut short her vacation and returned to Washington, where she headed to a staff meeting to discuss ways of coordinating offers of foreign assistance from more than 30 countries and organizations.

Now someone can talk to the Canadians about helping out...

This Adminstrations has made their agenda quite clear, Party before people, cronies before country.

Oh I guess Miss Thing finally finshed shopping for her Ferragamos and can now do some work.

Ain't that a blip, she's shopping and her relatives and ancestors are floating away.

This tragedy, that has been worsened by this administration's uncaring arrogance, causing many more deaths than the initial storm, has been a wake up call for me. In addition to contributing to the Red Cross, I signed up today for Democracy Bonds. It is imperative that we elect Democrats in 2006 and IMPEACH this president. I encourage everyone who can to do the same.

Hey J,

The Rice bimbo is only taking after her boss. They're both idiots. I'm looking forward to January 20, 2009. That'll be when John Kerry becomes President and he WILL right all the wrongs that Georgie has caused.

I am thankful that she can be talked into doing the right thing? Blessed are the peacemakers for they will see God? Wonder how many lives will be saved by her organizational skills?

By the way,
Where's Dick Cheney?

I guess the shoes give her special powers. Popeye liked spinach- Condoleeza likes shoes. She needs all the power she can to eat crow in front of all the other leaders around the world.

Hey Miz Rice! When is your trip to Venezuela?

the mayor, governor, federal and state representatives of LA should hang their heads in shame. all those years to plan for this, and they now have the audacity to pass the blame on to the federal government for not responding quickly enough. the feds blew it, but the blame for the poor initial response rests solely on the officials of New Orleans and the state of LA.

I want to hear Clinton, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. as the American people for forgiveness - for their serious failures in securing the people of New Orleans - their lives, their future and their city. I want politicians to reach into their soul, the very fabric of what makes them human beings and admit their mistakes, bad decisions and beg the forgiveness of the citizens of this country who have elected them and put their hopes on them for leadership, vision and a sense of security. All of you have failed us first on 911 and now during this time of national tragedy. For once I would like to see a sincere effort on the part of our "leadership" to rise above their party affiliation, white-social-economic status and speak to us - the American people. Where are our leaders? Who are they and can we continue to trust them with our lives and the lives of those we love?

You wonder why. The riots that are happing in the Gulf States are similar to what is happening in Iraq. Where is Cheny? How come minorities are the ones suffering the most? I don’t care if you are a republican. This is the opportunity where your leader should step in and show us why he was elected, but you know what? The complaints are getting louder, people are getting more angry, and fingers are starting to point to the republican government. With all of this happening, the administration is ready to take action and magically real progress is being made. Progress after 5 DAYS “…the results are unacceptable…” Bush. No Mr. President your timing for taking action, your assurance of this country, and response is unacceptable. I for one am tired of Bush… he took too long to respond to 9/11, his policy is not helping improve lives of many Americans, his policy is not making a stronger military, he took too long to respond to the tsunami, and now he just took too long to respond to the victims. Listen to what the president said this afternoon, right after he said, “unacceptable results.” He answered a reporter saying that “the results in Mississippi were acceptable,” but he then criticized the progress in New Orleans; however it’s with security that he has a problem with not the over all progress. The Bush administration is not speaking for any of you. None of you… how many times something wrong happens before we hold this government accountable? HOW LONG ???!!!!

Only one problem:

Today, President Bush said he was refusing the aid in an interview with Good Morning America.

In the interview, Bush said that America could 'take care of itself.'

Bush said, "I'm not expecting much from foreign nations because we hadn't asked for it. I do expect a lot of sympathy and perhaps some will send cash dollars. But this country's going to rise up and take care of it,"

That is the height of arrogance. We don't want your aid, keep it at home. But we'll take cash."

And the worst is, that the President, who has no concept of what life is like for both those rescued now and those still trapped, has the NERVE to refuse aid from people who come to help.

If he DOES accept the aid now, you can be sure that it is grudgingly, and you can also be sure that 1) it will only be because of the scrutiny this is receiving, and 2) someone will have died while he waited to accept the aid.

To the Republican Christians, Our Government and our President can let us die with their timing,a vote,a word, their silance, war& a bribe? With that much power comes that much condemnation. What will God think about the men and woman that have our lives in their hands? We know that God's word said, God lifts up evil men & Women to expose that old man of sin? He really knows his business, don't he?

Who said John Kerry was gonna win the nomination in 2008? He didn't fight hard enough to become president last year.

I'd nominate someone from the Congressional Black caucus. At least they are Dems who know how to fight and aren't afraid to speak truth to power.

Personally, I believe this whole hurricane business is a direct result of Bush pushing Israel to follow the road map to peace, pressuring Israel into giving up land so the Palestinians could ceaze it. Condi even said that the land that they gave up already isn't enough and Israel must do more. Well a few thousand Jews lost their homes because of U.S. pressure; so God answered back...thousands of Americans have lost homes and the economy is sinking and gas prices is rising. We really got hit hard and I believe, because it is our Government's direct meddling into the affairs of others that we should not be meddling into. This isn't the first disaster that has hit the U.S. directly after we have meddled into Israel's affairs. http://www.watch.org has more info and all of the catastrophies that has occured during the Bush administration(s) and Clinton's.

There are "Two Americas" Look it up! Then write your senator and congressman and ask them why they choose not to talk about it.

Okay, here we go.. We shrinks really need to come to the table fast. I was hoping that we could put them on a slow boat to China, a nice glitzy cruizeship would be so nice...some time out for the whole republican crew to chill out and get a grip on reality. We could have the best counselors and therapists, really do some rehab. for most of them. The de-culting de-brainwashers that I like to call the fundamentalism busters could use Jungian archetypes to show them who they are being like -you know, the ones who brought down empires. If they want to act out a tragic myth in psycho drama, atleast they will be in a controled environment.
They can even sit in a hot tub all day with their favorite cocktail and dance the swing to Glen Miller. We could even load them up an endless supply of high heels and polished shoes of all styles, especially those sixties pointy ones, remember Mrs. Marcus? She will feel right at home. We will enforce her evacuation also.
My only fear is that by the time they get to China, we will all have become Chinese citizens when Walmart takes over. You see, we have to get this going right away before they borrow more and overcharge their credit card. Then we are an owned country....eeek.
