9/2: Governor Kathleen Sebelius sent 150 Kansas National Guardsmen and two Black Hawk helicopters to Louisiana.

9/2: In addition, Governor Sebelius made sure Kansas was prepared by putting over six hundred National Guardsmen on stand-by.

9/2: Sebelius signed an executive order that granted eligibility for disaster leave for state employees certified by the American Red Cross to help in the relief efforts.

9/2: Sebelius signed another executive order that waived the limits of oversized vehicles on Kansas' roadways. This enabled emergency vehicles to have easy access to the Gulf Coast.
