Meet the New Majority Leader...Same as the Old Majority Leader

Posted by DNC Research on September 28, 2005 at 12:57 PM

Moments after House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was indicted on conspiracy charges, Republican leaders announced that David Dreier (R-CA) would be their recommendation for House Majority Leader. Why this seemingly random choice?

Could it be his unwavering loyalty for Tom DeLay?

House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-Calif.) said members are standing by DeLay. 'We know we’re under attack,' he said. 'It's a scorched-earth policy.' [Washington Post, 4/14/05]

'I never underestimate Tom DeLay,' said House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier, R-Calif., a member of the House leadership team. 'I think he can survive.' [Houston Chronicle, 3/15/05]

"He's had an amazing resilience and staying power, and I think justifiably so,' said Representative David Dreier, the California Republican who is the chairman of the Rules Committee. 'He's a strong man.' [New York Times, 3/15/05]

Hard to believe, but Drier is as bad if not worse than DeLay. I've listened to that nazi and am just amazed that anyone in California votes for him.

He is as rightwing and narrowminded as any total idiot could be and how he gets elected is beyond me.

Buzz on September 28, 2005 at 01:46 PM

Sounds to me like some fellow who's been doing battle with cancer.

Unless Dreier's been funelling money to other candidates, it's not likely he's going to be able to control the votes.

We need to challenge the whole system of elected officials being able to finance or solicit contributions for other candidates' campaigns. That's vote buying, plain and simple.

But, in order to make a successful argument, we are going to have to change the perception that most relationships are bilateral. They're not. Most relationships are in fact trilateral.

That is, one person does a favor for another and the other does a favor for a third who then does a favor for the first. The law tries to deal with these complex relationships through the principle of "intent"--but intent is damned hard to prove.

Guilt by association doesn't take care of it either.
How do we prove a bribe when the recipient of a benefit doesn't appear to give anything in return to the individual he got it from?

I am dumb founded!

Do we really think we get anywhere by trying to make the gop look bad?

Do we not have any other plan to regain seats than to degrade our opponents?

We are the minority in every branch of the government and yet we are so stuck on ourselves we can't see that the only thing we are campaining for now is the destruction of them.

We arn't trying to win races, we spend our time trying to make sure the gop doesn't! Instead of getting quality candidates to run, and building them up, we do little more that enjoy ourslves when they screw up.

We bash Bush (rightfully so) at every turn and he can't run again! Why waste our time on him? He will finish his term and be gone.

We go after Rummsfeld, Rove, Rice, Chaney, Powell, Lott, Frist and Now Delay. To what end?

DeLay is no longer the majority leader... Woo Hoo. There are a thousand republicans behind him ready to take his place. And We still didn't really gain anything. They still have just as many seats and the majority.

Why are we not banging the doors with what we do well not just what they suck at?

We are bigger than this. We are more that they. Don't go down this path.

Please, don't let them win by making us look the the spoild child!

Dear GarhardtWulf:

There is merit to what you're saying, and I've said it myself. Please understand however that in this case. there IS a case to be made for exploiting Delay's demise.

We lost 6 seats in the Texas legislature due to a redistricting scheme engineered by Delay. That was a powerful turning point which tipped the scales dramatically in GOP favor at our expense. The more that is uncovered about Delay's activities, the more our chances improve toward reversing what he has done.

Plus, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Delay's ties to Ambroff (sp), and the coincidental scandals that are affecting Bill Frist, not to mention the other scuttlebutt that is going around DC about GOP personalities, all combine to change the image that the GOP has tried so hard, and spent so many millions, to convey. We're not engaged in a Swift Boat smear, we're riding the tide of the facts that they did to themselves (and us).

Yes, we need a strong message of our owm, and to chant the same in unison to beat the republicans at their own game. But let's not lose the value of the moment. The GOP's self destruction by their own corruption is an opportunity we've been waiting for since Kenneth Starr left center stage.

A staunch Democrat...

It's about time this arrogant SOB got taken down a peg. He is so unbelievably arrogant and downright hypocritcal that it is as difficult if not impossible to EVER watch him or listen to what he has to say as it is with GWB. America needs desperately to wake up to what is going on under their noses. We need to take the high road, and just continue to work for the people's good. That is the real Democratic message. WE ARE THE PEOPLE'S PARTY....and have done more good for the people than ANY Republican agenda has. Let's keep on introducing legislation to help the people of this country. If any of you have any conversation with anyone who votes republican, ask them one question: Can you point to ANY issue or good that they have done for the country since in control?
I get the same silent answer everytime because there is nothing. TRUTH is powerful, and we have to work hard to make sure it is exposed. One other thing, an indictment isn't a conviction, so let's not behave like they do...with an air of arogance. We are above that.

barb_in_FL on September 28, 2005 at 02:33 PM

It's more than just Dreier's loyalty to DeLay. It's Dreier because DeLay plans on coming back. If Majority Whip Roy Blunt took the job, DeLay might not ever get it back. Dreier presents no threat.

Corinne on September 28, 2005 at 02:34 PM

To all,
I am a Texan that has to deal with Delay. Yes I am a staunch conservative, though most of the time people think I am an independent, but I lean heavily towards most of the ideals of FDR and the Democratic party.
Most still do not truly understand the problem within the party. Delay was able to do what he wanted not because he was smarter or more vindictive. It was becasue he knew that we could not do anything because as a party we are to splintered and have no one what so ever to oppose him and the Republicans. That is the simple truth.
Barb_in_Fl points out that we are the People's Party. Are we truly the People's party or are we just the ones that have enslaved the People to us? The real truth is Barb that the Republicans have beaten us at our wown game. They have spent more than we havN ever dreamed in regards to social programs. never fool yourself in the regards to spending moeny. We believe in high taxes and handing out money to keep people on ours ide. You say we need to take the high road on the issues and continue to be the People's Party. Great sentiment, but it will never happen.
The only thing our party truly loves more than bashing and grandstanding is to believe we do actual good. The Republican party and our own dear party have not done a bit of good over the last 40 years. Considering I am only 28 that says a lot about my observations of the country and our spiral out of control on everything. Problem is that we are arrogant in everything we do and believe about our party. We truly are no longer the party of FDR and Jefferson. We are the party that believes that we should expand social programs to "enslave" another generation on our handouts. Having all the people from New Orleans here in Houston has shown me just how bad our "ideas" of advancing the people have become inept and have little true help. People complaining that they should have more and more when the generous hearts of not just this city, but all of America have given and given to them.
This is not only our faults, but the fault of politians spanning the decades. LBJ envisioned the Great Society, but where is it. You cannot blame the Republicans for it not appearing. You can only blame ourselves because we have been the ones to distort that vision with a constant barrage of handouts. We are the ones that were in power for decades and did nothing at all to try and stem the tide of poverty and social welfare. FDR's social welfare programs created jobs. What have we done? Created a welfare and food program that rewards a woman for having multiple babies. It rewards a man for being lazy and not wanting to even try to get a job. It has created a generation of kids that have no actual clue how to speak properly and act properly in any setting. It has created a generation of leaders that play different "cards" when speaking to the public.
It has allowed a generation of kids to truly believe they are worthless and need handouts to make anythig of themselves.
I for one long for a strong leader in the mold of FDR who is willing to tell his party off and what he truly thinks of them and then rally the nation to pick itself up and transform itself into something more than a laughing stock amoung the world communtiy.
Well enough of my rambling. Delay will survive this and most likely return to the majority leader position.

"He's had an amazing resilience and staying power, and I think justifiably so,' said Representative David Dreier, the California Republican who is the chairman of the Rules Committee. 'He's a strong man.' [New York Times, 3/15/05]

It must be because of all those pesticides DeLay's been around all these years. Even the strongest cockroach can resist them.

But the truth can be a pretty strong deterrent.

Let's see just how far the rest of the corrupt, graft-ridden Republican Congress is willing to go in backing him....especially when we start finding out who else got checks from the same DeLay depository.

DeLay was, after all, just the pimp who collected and distributed the money to his eager band of Republican political whores. Who paid for all their services rendered? And what tricks did they perform?

Maybe we now have a sexual scandal that even the MSM can't resist delving into.

SandyH on September 28, 2005 at 03:32 PM

I find this amusing. Everyone on Capitol Hill knows David Dreier is gay. So now the Republicans have a gay majority leader. I'm sure the Republican base is gonna love that. Their gonna run to the polls next year to support their gay majority leader. This is too funny.

10
wmharris on September 28, 2005 at 03:45 PM

"Everyone on Capitol Hill knows David Dreier is gay."

Americablog has a story out on this already. Good times.

11
SadieBaker on September 28, 2005 at 04:12 PM

I wonder if Dreier's new position will revive the outing story from last year, after which he dropped out of sight for a while.

His "housemate", who is also his chief of staff, earns more than any other chief of staff to any other Congressperson. You know, the old "put the loved ones on the payroll for big bucks" routine.

His record is pretty virulently anti-gay, so I think his outing is entirely justified.

Wonder if the Republicans in the House are worrying that this story might hit the big time?

AnotherVADem on September 28, 2005 at 04:20 PM

It makes no difference who the majority put in as replacement for Delay nothing will change as long as the voters keep voting in those who have sent our nation into bankrupcy and wars without end or need! Spin is as spin does just keeps on spinning! Unless we the voters finally recognize the deceptive practices of our current leadership!
Which is not likely to happen too soon because have the voters in this nation are sold into their belief's of conseratism is being part of the Bible. hmmmm nobody reads about telling lies or spreading gossip I guess, as seems to be the common method used by most Conservatives and their supporters!

Look at Delay and how he spread such spin and lies! As I recall it was Tom Delay who yelled so loud about what a liar Bill Clinton was and in fact when President Clinton was returning from a peace keeping mission between the Israelis and the Palestrina’s. I believe it was Delay who stood on national TV made his comments about not believing anything Clinton had to say! That of which had to be real encouraging for the enemies of the United States back then and only enlightened the insanity of the world to further stand firmer against the US! And Delays problem with Clinton was over the accusation that he lied in court about his affair with Monica and Clintons misuse of the power of the White House to take advantage of willing sexual partner! Which is worse to lie about a sexual affair and misuse power given over sex or to have maybe misuse power to channel illegal campaign funds and lied about it before not only the Congress as well as in a court of law. Guess two wrongs never make a right and as it is written how you judge so shall you be judged!

Well looks like maybe a door is opening to clean up both sides of the isle and end political spinning and cheating and start taking care of real issues that concern all Americans. Come on Democrats get to it now is your moment not to spin but to gather facts that will clean out all self-righteous politicians that seem intend on destroying our nations in favor of false conservatism that only works for the good of the haves and punishes the haven’t s’!

As we all knew Clinton lied about Monica we all know Delay is not exactly telling the truth about funding and using the power his office to find out where Texas Democrats were hiding as a means not to vote on re-districting Texas. Does Delay think that were all stupid? I am not loyal to either party but I am loyal to America and my faith in God! And in God I Do Trust how about you?

Well its said the truth shall set you free hmmm still wondering about that one got so I can't tell the difference between spin and truth so what do we believe sure won't be Tom!

Scottm,

I was starting to like your post until I realized it was just another welfare bashing post.

This country has a thousand problems much more pressing.

Politicians who are beyond all normal reason NOT accountable to the American people is perhaps our greatest problem.

But there are more. You say we've started a handout generation. BUT you leave out how the administration is giving major corporations tax breaks to take jobs out of America. IN fact they ENCOURAGE IT! WHY? Simple...greed.

We have corporations who are so in love with the bottom line they actually write the bills for congress. BOTH the Bankruptcy bill(which cowardly dems voter for) and the Drug Bill were written by the Banking industry and Pharma industry respectively.

And you think welfare is the problem? Hardly.

We have politicians of both stripes who spend the taxpayers money like it was water. Think about that moron in Alaska who got a quarter of a billion dollars for a bridge to an island with FIFTY PEOPLE on it. Who is really making out on that?

We have a current Repuglican administration that is waging war on science.

We have an administration that is waging war on the environment.

What is the reasoning behind this? GREED!

Pure and simple. Get rid of environmental laws and the timber, mining and oil companies reap even higher profits.

Get rid of real science and oversight of drug comnpanies and you get profits beyond all normal reason.

Push mythology like ID in schools for the simple reason of finding a backdoor to start pushing a Christian Taliban style of theocracy. A dumb and easily led populace starting with the kids is the easiest way to keep them under control.

We have a government that is incapable of sealing the borders costing local schools, hospitals and law enforcement BILLIONS of dollars.

We have a government that is spending us into bankruptcy in a poorly planned and thought out war in a country that posed no threat to us or for that matter just about anyone.

We have a government that is so poorly run that a horse show judge is in charge of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and it has consistently fallen down.

We have no leadership because everyone is too busy pandering to special interests all for the express purpose of staying in office.

We have much more serious problems than some people who get welfare checks.

You need to take another look around you.

Garhardt,

As I remember it, the Republican Party during Bill Clinton's era, acted Much more the spoiled child over minor little things they tried to make into big crimes, and they Still Won!

They won on "Let's Bring Honesty back to the White House".

There is a segment of the population out there, who are happily un-informed, who we have to keep reminding that this Republican Party is a Criminal Party that must go!

15
PamB on September 28, 2005 at 07:12 PM

The other party keeps winning elections; this must be the result of a certain amount of support from "mainstream" Americans.

But in light of DeLay's indictment, where exactly do Republicans fit it with the "mainstream"? The DeLay-Frist wing of the party has proven that their party is corrupt. Everything they have, and everything that they are, is the direct result of illegal, underhanded financial dealings.

Now let's turn to their foreign policy. Nearly 2000 dead American troops and many thousands more wounded are a sad reminder that the Republicans are far out of step with the mainstream in this regard (if they weren't, then how could one explain why almost 60% of the country believes the Iraq war is unwinnable, and was not worth it?)

Finally, a Republican might argue that their values are shared by mainstream Americans. If this were the case, then how could one explain the difficulty the president has had in getting his right-wing judges appointed? More to the point, how come John Roberts is sailing into the Supreme Court by a far narrower margin of "yes" votes than President Clinton's high court nominees did?

Heading into the 2006 mid-terms, why is it that so many Republican incumbents nationwide are doing everything they can to distance themselves from the Bush administration? Could it be,that they don't want to appear, for lack of a better word, out of the "mainstream"?

The right-wing's glory days are coming to an end, whether they care to admit it or not. But do we Democrats stand to gain anything from their inevitable collapse?

I say, yes we do, but only if we are able to effectively voice our agenda to the American people in a way that not only contrasts with the culture of corruption on the other side, but portrays a realistic, attainable alternative of a higher standard than we've shown in the past.

16
Derrick on September 28, 2005 at 10:16 PM

And so our message is: "The Republicans cheat and we obey the rules!"

That's simple enough, and we can convey that message loud and clear in many ways, and agree on it.

aBigSAM on September 29, 2005 at 01:47 AM

This is wonderful. I am really enjoying the new route this party is taking.

I think the democracy bonds is a PHENOMENONAL idea and a start, to regulating corporations and bringing people back into politics.

However I'm not willing to put my dollars on the line, unless I know for sure that our policy a policy of anti-corruption is getting written!!!

I want to see the democrats speak up right now, about illegal immigration spending, absolvement of corporate cronyism, and also regulating the tax law codes for businesses.

We tax the middle class up the wazzoo while letting the rich get away with murder. That's gotta end permanently.

We need a fair, FISCAL tax policy that takes care of all residents. Lets scrap the old welfare tax system, and erase the corporate kickbacks.

Lets refinance the state Medicare systems so we can have healthcare for all americans, and delete the tax cuts for the upper class.

Lets regulate EVERY dollar for CORPORATIONS CONTRIBUTING INTO POLITICS: IE, No corporation or entity, should be allowed to contribute more than X amount within a year, and shall not under any circumstances require or demand special favors in return for that contribution.

IE: Every business has board members, stock members, shareholders. They don't really have to work as hard as most of us. They should be required to contribute their OWN money, out of their own pocket.....at the debate with their colleagues to request legislation.

But even if that legislation is granted to the business, it should be reviewed before decisions are MADE. That is how a government for the people works!

Reform the campaign finance law to make lobbying illegal except when you have a contract. Meaning, you talk with your represenative about the actions you want taken, do not bribe or pay them off, and then make your contribution.

This is a SIMPLE fiscal policy which every democrat should be behind. And takeaway the free giveaways!!!! Close the loopholes, we're all on the same level. That's like giving crooks a reason to trample over everything!

These are SOLUTIONS, real solutions to real problems that need attention. I will not put a dime in until this becomes central issue. Afterward I'll gladly donate my dollars/tax dollars to enforce these laws and change the system.

The biggest problem the Democrat party has with American voters right now is that they view us as being AGAINST GOD. KKKarl Rove did this to us. Repugs like Frist and Delay are helping us show voters that Democrats may have the moral and legal high ground... but having priests and pastors tell their parishoners FROM THE PULPIT that a vote for Democrats is a vote against God is a very large problem for this party.

20
redstateRadicle on September 29, 2005 at 07:34 AM

We do have a problem with Churches getting involved in politics and that is beccause of the faith based charity deal that Bush and Rove put in place. It simple gives taxpayers money to Church organizations to do with as they please and the upper level likes it. It is like a tremendous raise, so they tell the lower level to get people voting for Republicans and the lower level can have some of that money. It is the same tactic Hussein used for support. Spread the money around, except the money they are spreading around is our money. That is Rove tactics from the beginning, bribe people with taxpayers money.

"Blunt's ties to the company include large campaign donations from the company - $150,000 since 2001 to committees affiliated with Blunt. His son, Andrew, also works as a lobbyist for Philip Morris back in his home state of Missouri.
House Majority Whip Roy Blunt is coming under fire for trying to help tobacco giant Philip Morris USA in last November's homeland security bill.

The Washington Post reports that just days after he was named to the House's third-highest leadership post, Blunt - who has close personal and political ties to Phillip Morris – tried to slip a pro-tobacco provision into the bill creating the new Department of Homeland Security.

SamSarma on September 29, 2005 at 12:09 PM

Buzz,
You make valid points on all accounts. Though you misunderstood the underlying current of the post.
The theme was not just about how we are giving away money to people that do not deserve it, but it was also about how this party has no leadership. All we have is a bunch of people that think they can lead, but have no ability. They are more interested in their bloody paychecks than they are about the actual People of this country.
Buzz I guess you are more interested in a failed governement and bashing it instead of trying to figure out what we can tell the people in Washington that really needs to happen. Oh wait I remember know why we have no power over the ones we elect. We are a republic, not a real democracy. We vote into power people that then turn around and tell us what we need to think and how we need to think it. Man I am sorry everyone I forgot that one simple golden rule.
I for one am tired of all the old, empty suits in Washington telling me what I am supposed to think.
Buzz all I was saying was that wasn't Jefferson our founding father of the Democratic party that says the federal governemtn should be small? Then again everyone now adays thinks a huge government that is intrusive into our lives is a good thing.

26
scottm on September 29, 2005 at 01:35 PM

In reality, it is a "conservative" administration and majority in congress that has created the biggest bloat in the government and made it the most intrusive on all fronts.

FDR increased federal funding and initiated many social programs, but that was very effecient and productive use of tax payer money. Pat Brown in California used tax payer money to build one of the finest freeway system in the country and the University of California system that has become a very elite center of higher learning, competiting and some times winning against even the most prestigious Ivy League schools. That was effecient and effective use of tax payer money. This "conservative" administration and majority in Congress have shown the most ineffecient and ineffective ways of using tax payer money. All their spending is going to increasing the "fat" in the federal government, a bloating the bureaucracy, that doesn't help the citizens. All their spending is going into corporate welfare and rewarding big time the corporate sponsors of the Republican Party!

27
SamSarma on September 29, 2005 at 02:39 PM

We all knew this was coming, regardless of the result. Though I'm certain the planning and action is ongoing, I'd love to know what the plan is to keep the pressure on right now, rid the system of these parasites and show the nation and the world that we Dems have ideas, solutions and answers. That's what I want to see. I want to see 'our people' on the Meet the Press, pounding at these people and proposing ideas that inspire and prepare the masses for the midterms. Does anyone have this or a number of talking points that we can take out to our community? Thank you and keep the pressure on!!!

28
WestWing on September 29, 2005 at 03:12 PM

SamSarma: Yes, exactly. And that idea is so easy to express that Hackett and Hinchey basically hit it out of the park.

They should be pounding the airwaves with that difference, and putting the message out there. The 50 state strategy is a very good beginning, every state needs to be coming up with their own solutions and talking about how these churches do NOT have tax-exempt status(hence it can be taken away, since its illegal) and also discussing the tax problem.

The values we all need to share with the base, is that we care about all religions, nationalities and races- we do not disenfranchise based on class like the republicans do. Its very simple to get this point across, Dean has done it consistently. Get several democrats at once doing it!

The whole state of the welfare tax code needs to be reformed and cut away, get rid of the greedy corporations who have ruined the welfare system and delete those tax cuts by putting a fiscal tax policy in place for all businesses. Its time to get serious and stomp the message out on every airwave, like you said. Then everyone can get a democracy bond and know it really means something.

The first change in a long time that altered how the democrats energize their base, was Paul Hackett. We need more of that inspiration at every level of government. Then people will truly have a stake in it when they donate, and then people will get the results they want and we'll outraise anybody.

scottm,

FDR's new deal was one of the absolute best things that EVER happened to the United States. Our country was in such a bad shape that folks were literally starving and dying on the streets under Hoover. All Hoover did was start the RFC (Reconstruction Finance Corporation) which gave $1.5 billion only to the railroads and banks in a hope this type of trickle down economics would help. FDR done an audit about the RFC and found only a very small precentage received the whole $1.5 billion. Then FDR had to straighten this mess out. Hoover flat refused to give any money to the poor or unemployed folks who were suffereing. He even had protestors outside the Whitehouse shot. FDR also done his best to balance the budget while he was in office. It didn't stop with FDR. We had Truman who continued with FDRs' policies and stopped WWII. We had JFK and LBJ who gained most of the anti-discrimination laws in this country. The MOB was busted up and several went to jail. Under Jimmy Carter, the industries were booming and everyone had a job even though gas prices were rising. Jimmy also started FEMA while he was in office. The only reason he didn't get re-elected was he was too honest, IMHO. Bill Clinton did a huge amount of work. First he got a huge number off welfare who shouldn't be on it. Unemployment dropped sharply while he was in office. During his first year, he was going to give all US citizens health insurance which the GOP stopped when they gained control of the senate. Clinton shored up the UMWA's health insurance. He balanced the budget and paid off the huge debt that Regan ran up during his eight years and Bush Sr's four. Now this is just a very short biography of each and what they all did to help us.

I am on disability and cant walk from a broken back. I draw Social Security, have Medicare and Medicade. Social Security is not funded by the government, but by taxes from our wages. Most are getting back what they paid in like me. Actually, Social Security has a surplus of money each year.Even though your young, it's a sin amd immoral to let young or old folks suffer because they're sick. It's a sin amd immoral to let babies and children starve. It's a sin amd immoral to let any citizen of the US go without as rich as our country is. If the republicans are the Christian party, why do they fight having the rich folks pay their share of the taxes to help run these services? Why are they allowed to not pay as much taxes on the dollar as the poorest of people? Why do the richest get more tax breaks that the poorest? Why do republicans not want to pay into health and relief programs? Why did or do the republicans say the Democrtas are socialists? Why do republican senators vote against every health and relief bill that comes before them? Do you think that I should not have these benefits and me handicapped?

A list of New Deal programs by FDR;

The "alphabet soup" of New Deal programs included the TVA, CCC, WPA, FDIC, SEC and NRA.

The New Deal was composed of countless programs, labeled an "alphabet soup" by its detractors. Among the New Deal acts were the following, most of them passed within the first 100 days of FDR's administration;

United States bank holiday, 1933: closed all banks until they became certified by federal reviewers

Abandonment of gold standard, 1933: allowed more money to be put in circulation to create a mild inflation

Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), 1933: employed young adults to perform unskilled work for the federal government

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), 1933: a government program that ran a series of dams built on the Tennessee River

Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA), 1933: provided breadlines and other aid to the unemployed

Socialism;

In Marxist theory, it refers to the society that would succeed capitalism, and in some cases develop further into communism. Marxism and communism are both very specific branches of socialism that do not represent socialism as a whole.

Even though I went to the trouble of typing all this, I highly doubt any republicam will read all the contents and see the meaning of it. That's the travesty of it.

One thing I forgot to mention. Undeserving people who were staying on welfare was not just under the Democrtas but under each party. This continued until it got rediculous. It was under a Democrat, Bill Clinton who knocked the leg out from under the milk stool. If you are able, you can only be on welfare for about 6 months to help you find other employment. After that, now your on your own. Since republicans cry about this so much, why didn't they do something about instead of a Democrat? They want to point fingers at the Democrats but not do anything themselves. I think you would call that being hypocritical?

I have a wonderful idea: how about instead of complaining about every little thing that happens to the Republican Party we worry about our own problems. Instead of bashing the other party based on their views, we should try to negotiate peacefully and try to compromise. This continous and frivolous attempt to denounce the Republican Party in order to further our own agenda will get us nowhere.

I want to Thank all the Hard Working, Brilliant Democrats. I believe you have done so many things just right. Not too loud, not too soft, with patience and wisdom you will reach the top of the mountain. Since you,our elected officials, have the oversight to gaze on the village below, you can plainly see what not to do. Aren't you glad you aren't being so greedy that it blinds you to your ultimate goal? I am so proud of all of you. I hope you help us make stricter regulations on Lobbist? It really has gotten out of hand. I know it is hard to resist but is it fair to the less powerful that can't buy the laws, regulations, and the rules or the people that enforce them? Let us make Government a little more accessible to the poor and downtrodden. Stay firm in your decisions until the victory is celebrated.

If the DNC will put more effort in getting people to the polls this next election , we'll clean house. A suggestion: Since most schools are closed during election day and that is where the voting takes place, why not hire the school bus drivers and as many school buses as possible to deliver voters to the polls. They could just run their regular route ( maybe three times)and have a DNC member on each bus to check the folks that want to take the buses to make sure they are registered as a Democrat. Most school districts that own their own buses would probable love the extra income that they would get from the rental of those buses. For the rest of the districts , just use the same company the districts rent their buses from

The question for election is: "Do you still believe a Republican? "
