RNC Sends Email to Activists on Estate Tax Cut

Posted by Jesse Berney on September 1, 2005 at 04:07 PM

The RNC apparently found time in its busy schedule to ask Republican activists to take action today to help eliminate the estate tax -- a tax that is only paid by the very wealthiest sliver of American society.

It's nice to see the Republican Party isn't confused about its priorities.

UPDATE: No, really, we couldn't make something like this up. John Aravosis at AMERICABlog has a screenshot here.

I guess George wants to be sure none of his buddies have any worries about getting on with their lives. Why should a few inconvenient facts or a little thing like a national natural disaster be allowed to impact those lives?

Why should anyone be surprised? Money is, and has been, the first thing that most of the Republican leadership is after since the Nixon years.

Yes, but are certain sell-out DEMS going to vote to abolish too or do they think the tragedy down south and standing up for the lower and middle classes is MORE important unlike the Republicans? EVERYBODY here needs to call their legislators, especially the suspicious Dems - and we KNOW who you are, and tell them to NOT ABOLISH THE DEATH TAX!!! This IS class warfare being played out - at the expense of a catastrophe as well as the future of America. If the Dems push this vote over and it passes, we'll KNOW we have lost our party for good and the Republican agenda is more important to the Dems than the Democratic agenda we need them to stand up for. Start calling after you do what you can for the Katrina victims!!!!

The ultimate goal of the regressive movement is to create a permanent aristocracy. The aristocracy tax has kept this from happening for a long time. Because of centrist DINOs and regressive republicans, it will come to an end. God help us all!

There are three points we need to keep emphasizing on this issue.

First, do not allow the republicans to keep calling this the "death" tax. This is an inheritance tax. Each time someone calls it a death tax we need to refer to it as an inheritance tax.

Second, this tax is paid by less than 2% of the citizens of this country, spouses have an unlimited deduction and others are scheduled to have a three million dollar deduction.

Third, the right likes to refer to this tax as unfair, a "double" tax. This is simply not true for most inherited wealth. Most inherited wealth is in the form of capital gains, which is generally not taxed until transfer, EXCEPT when it is transferred upon death. In that case the recipient receives a step up in basis equivalent to the fair market value on the date of death. So rather than double taxation the capitol gain is never taxed.

If everyone gave a dollar a week to pay off our National debt, how long would it take with what we are adding every week. That is with the people that live or work here according to the last Census?

No wonder the party of Red (Republican) is more concerned with our country being in the Red (Debt), instead of in the Blue (Plus), also the color of our party (Democrat).

And no wonder the so-called "Red House" (as of right now, but come 2009 it'll change) wants to be like Nixon and his cronies. They just want to say "We're not crooks, we're not crooks..."

I've had enough of Nixonism spreading over to the Bush admin. It just makes me sick.

I remember when they said that we Dems represent the Party of No (a la the Capitol One ads). It seems that THEY (Right Wing) are the party of No, thanks to them (the NeNO-Cons) listening to Bush, America's current C.E.NO. (Won't David Spade be proud right now?)

I'm sorry--That e-mail looks doctored...why exactly would the RNC call for their members to call Sen. Feinstein? Seems a little contrived...

It was written in a previous post here, that a goal in the Republican Party was to create a permanent aristocracy.

What I say is that we already have a pervading Aristocracy here is America. The current President is an excellent example.

I'm sorry to say this is not in any way restricted to those in the Republican Party. The Sheen's in Hollywood are an example, as is Vice President Gore as democrats.

I'm going to add to that by saying that the G.NO.P. (Again, playing off of Capitol One and David Spade) also wants to turn the White House into the Red House (for Communism, not to mention that exact same color also represents the Republican Party).

Are we going to let them do that? "NO." In response to bowing down to the G.NO.P's demands, "The answer's always NO!"
