DeLay Booked
Earlier today, House Republican leader Tom DeLay surrendered to Texas authorities, was fingerprinted and had his mug shot taken, and posted a $10,000 bond before leaving the Harris County sheriff’s bonding office. He's due in a Texas court tomorrow to face charges of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

From the Associated Press:
Rep. Tom DeLay turned himself Thursday in at the Harris County sheriff’s bonding office, where he was photographed, fingerprinted and released on bond on state conspiracy and money laundering charges.“He posted $10,000 bond and they have left the bonding office,” Lt. John Martin with the sheriff’s department said.
DeLay, accompanied by his attorney, Dick DeGuerin, showed up about 12:15 p.m., appeared before a judge and was gone in less than 30 minutes, Martin said.

He looks like he's just got a call from Jack Abramoff that the fix is in on another scam that will reap big kickbacks from various Indian tribes. Don't make out the check to ME personally; send it to the GOP national office to be laundered. Satisfaction guaranteed.

It was such a good cutline, I had to repeat it twice. Sorry.
What an ass!! Is he smiling because he's PROUD of his criminal behavior?
Arrogant a**hole thinks he is going to get out of this, too! Keep your fingers crossed all, that he gets the MAX !
That's pure PR for you there - you just know they had to have a meeting about this where someone said "Let's make sure to make this look like a regular photo without the number/info board and oh, lets make sure the mug shot has his House of Representatives pin on!"
That's just wrong to defile the HOR by keeping that pin on in a criminal mug shot.
Shameless...must enjoy being a criminal from the looks of it...CREEP!!!
If he is guilty, then he should be in jail. No one is above the law. However, you're letting your "donkey" show by actually thinking and COMMENTING that this is his mugshot. Either you haven't watched the news in the last several months when this picture was first published, or you are arrogant cows following the herd... which is it?
Okay - I'll bite...
Saram, are you telling us that this is NOT his mugshot taken today in Texas? Are you telling us that this picture has already been seen?
Why would anyone try to deceit the public by not posting the real picture. Oh, wait...I almost forgot who I was talking about.
I want a copy of the warrent for the back of a t-shirt and his mug on the front.
Earle and Fritzgerld for the High Court!!
I want a copy of the warrent for the back of a t-shirt and his mug on the front.
Earle and Fritzgerld for the High Court!!
Is that really the official mug shot? It doesn't look real - no ID markings, no booking numbers etc. Is this just a humorous representation maybe ?
I want to see a side by side picture of him after he's spent about 6 months in the slammer. I bet he loses that smirk real fast....and he'll probably walk alot different too.
I would love to see the profile photograph. I also hope to see a picture of this criminal behind bars. That would be sweet.
Yep - Bad news for the Republicans *always* bring out the trolls to this website. It's like clockwork.
It's pretty obvious that this is just a political smearjob by the democrat party. You are quick to throw mud on Mr Delay, before he's even had his day in court. You are obviously aware that anybody can be indicted for anything, and that doesn't mean they're guilty. The Hammer will prevail, and Earle will be exposed to the world as the weasel he really is.
shame on you democrats. this is not how to win elections.
Is Tom Delay of the Elite Republican Minority or of the "Lumpenproletariat Majority"?
The "Lumpenproletariat Majority" of the Republican Party are non-constituents of the Republican Party that are not represented by the Republican Party as constituents because they are in fact deluded Left-wingers that are being taken advantage of by the Right-wingers of the Republican Party.
This fact was addressed by the McLaughlin Group last Sunday, October 16, 2005. It was mentioned during the McLaughlin Group discussion that "Lumpenproletariat Republicans" should wear pointy hats "dunce caps" like fools.
You decide, is Tom Delay a Lumpenproletariat fool that should be wearing a dunce cap; or a member of the elite minority of business, industry and government?
Thomas G. Miller
Lumpenproletariat, Majority of Republican Party
Last Sunday, October 16, 2005, on his program, "The McLaughlin Group", John McLaughlin explained the makeup and prospects of the Republican Party to Pat Buchanan in the following manner:
John McLaughlin explained to Pat Buchanan that the MAJORITY of the Republican Party is "Lumpenproletariat", and that the remaining part of the Republican Party are an elite minority like Pat Buchanan. McLaughlin explained to Pat Buchanan that the Republican Party is a minority and that the Republican Party could not hold MAJORITY POWER without the "Lumpenproletariat". Here is a Lumpenproletariat link related to Delay and all his Right-wing Lumpenproletariat ilk:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumpenproletariat
Someone on the program said that the "Lumpenproletariat" should wear pointy hats, "dunce caps" like fools do.
It is my understanding that the "Lumpenproletariat" are foolish people that are Left-wingers supporting the Republican Party against their best interest.
What do you think of the "Lumpenproletariat Majority" of the Republican Party, and whether or not they will continue to support the Republican Party?
For years I have been calling the "Lumpenproletariat", non-constituents of the Republican Party, that are voting against their own best interest; McLaughlin's terminology is true, never the less my terminology is nicer, but I agree wholeheartedly with John McLaughlin.
The above "Lumpenproletariat post" was made by ThomasG, his E-Mail has been stopped by the "Lumpenproletariat", presumably on this blog. I wonder what Governor Dean will think of this, hummmmmm?
I don't know why people think DeLay's mug shot was going to be a Nick Nolte on drugs look a like picture. I predicted last week it would look exactly the way it does. Corrupt politicians with something to hide will always smile when confronted with the truth.
By know you all should have figured out what all the plays are in the Rethug Propaganda, Smears and Lies PlaybooKKK. Their "culture of corruption" and incompetence is about to become extinct. Americans are fed up with a declining standard of living coupled with a reduction in basic Constitutional rights, topped off with the government's inablilty to protect American lives. Next election, they will vote enmass for Democrats, but not for all Democrats.
The new breed of Democrats coming out of the DNC will not only replace the Rethugs, but also replsce the usless DINOs and old guard Democrats in the upcoming Democratic primaries.
A "New" Standard WILL Replace Political Leadership of the LEFT by the DLC.
The "Working Class and the Poor" do not need DLC New Class Leadership that is a 21st Century version of Marie Antonette representing them with a Professional Class perspective of "let them eat cake", a perspective that makes a false assumption that the "Working Class and the Poor" have access to the same resources and the same privileges as that of the DLC Professional New Class.
The "Working Class and the Poor" were tolerant of the Professional New Class elite perspective in the 60's, when the Professional Class pulled a Columbus and discovered poverty outside of their insular communities after having announced openly that the War on Poverty had been won, and POVERTY NO LONGER EXISTED IN THE UNITED STATES.
In the 60's the Prosessional - New Class - discovered poverty among the "Working Class and the Poor", a fact that everyone of the "Working Class and the Poor" that was not living in an insular community already knew.
The "Working Class and the Poor" need better political representation from the grass roots, and less insular representation from the Professional New Class in the Government of the United States and all levels of government.
Support Governor Howard Dean, DNC Chairman of the DFL and his political movement to represent the "Working Class and the Poor" along with the Professional Class from a grass roots perspective, a perspective that is inclusive, rather than exclusive; a perspective that does not represent just the insular and privileged needs of the DLC Professional New Class; a perspective that represents all of the Political LEFT with LIBERTY, FREEDOM and JUSTICE FOR ALL.
Thomas G. Miller
Regular people aren't allowed to smile for a "mug shot", only the "Lumpenproletariat".
You're right. This mug shot is tasteless. It would have been more appropriate to get a shot of him being handcuffed and escorted by 2 large mean-looking cops. He looks just too damn happy in this shot. Makes you want to check and see who he bought off. Heck, you can even see the canary feathers dripping off his chin.
Can this fool be for real? Who smiles at their mug shot? Usually that means business and you've run afoul of the law. It should not be a source of pride; it ought to be a source of shame.
He ought to have his head bowed rather than his chin jutting as though he were still a credible Congressman...
The Austin-American Statesman has a great article regarding the photo, which is authentic, and a fine example of body language and reality disconnecting--what serial liars master! Amazing, isn't it? This guy is a champion deceiver. The trial should be interesting. They already want a different judge.
http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/gen/ap/DeLay_Indictment_Smile.html
Look at all the comments... Tom Delay sure has brought lots of activity to the Democrat Party site!
Maybe he should be recruited to be a Democrat. Who is running this party, anyway?
What a joke. This "portrait" just goes to show how far Texas Republicans will bend over backwards to protect one of their own. What an absolute joke.
I wonder if Delay would be laughing if he finds out they can charge him under RICO act and get civil restitution for his criminal act.
If they can charge Tobacco companies under RECO, I think it would apply here too!
RICO was established to remove the criminal element from influence in government. How better to apply the law?
What did Tommy do?
*Violated a 1905 Texas law that bans corporwate contributions in Texas legislative races.
*Laundered $2.5 million of corporate contributions collected by TRMPAC through the RNC, which redistributed it back to the Texas Republican party and House Speaker Candidate Tom Craddock.
Craddock by the way is in violation of another Texas law that prohibits candiates for Texas Speaker of the House from offering financial inducements or promises of favors.
Craddock handed out the laundered money in the form of checks to several 2002 GOP TX House candidates during that election cycle.
ONce the GOP gained control of the Texas House, he then forced the Delaymandering of Texas US House districts in 2003 over the objections of the citizens of Texas.
The machine may be a little out of control... DeLay.... is that DE---lay the court date ?
More fun for Bush
President Bush flew cross-country to help dedicate a new Air Force One exhibit at the Ronald Reagan presidential library, but his appearance at a GOP fundraiser while he was here irked top California Republicans.
They said Bush's appearance Thursday night at a $1 million Republican National Committee fundraiser was poorly timed because of the upcoming Nov. 8 special gubernatorial election.
"Unless President Bush is coming to California to hand over a check from the federal government to help us with the financial challenges we face, the visit seems ill-timed," said Karen Hanretty, a spokeswoman for the state Republican Party
Maybe he's smiling because he's got nothing to hide, nothing to feel ashamed of, and no guilt for wich to show remorse. I find it interesting when somebody says of a defendant that it is horrible that they show no remorse. You can show remorse only if you're guilty. In these United States, one is considered innocent until proven uilty in a court of law. I will give Mr. Delay his Constitutional benefit of the doubt until that guilt is proven.
I am fascinated by all of these "innocent until proven guilty" justice-seeking Republicans. Wrap yourselves in the flag if you wish...your protests look real thin and you look like a bunch of spinning hypocrites. Everyone here still remembers the Whitewater witchhunt.
Have you seen the ad DeLay is running? Atrios has a copy. Sad faced Tom DeLay, and the words "Will it soon be a CRIME to be a Conservative?"
Yeah, right. Mr. "I *am* the Federal government thinks he's being persecuted. He goes on about it over at TomDelay.com.

The dream dies slowly for those who can't admit they were had. Put your faith in God, my friend, not politicans.
But you have come to the right place for help. We will hold your hand through the coming difficult months. No one blames you for what these guys did.
We know the media and the Religious Right willingly conspired with them to manipulate you so cravenly. They are the fools, not you.
"Will it soon be a CRIME to be a Conservative?"
This from the people who slandered the term liberal?
Warrent is spelled warrant...and trolls?????????
Well, the bitterness and anger has shown thru true to form. You just cannot stand a good pic, huh??
First off, arent we all innocent until proven guilty? There have been those on both sides of the fence who have been charged and then found to be innocent.. There have been Congressmens' familes (Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) charged with violent crimes. There have been Democrats who have had to apologize in front of ther nation for lying (Clinton). Eitherway, if Dems are seeking to use Delay as a means taking a higher moral high ground in future elections, then perhaps save the champagne bottles to after a conviction.
A message to Tom:
He who laughs last, laughs best.
PS
Looks like the Prozac worked quite well for the Vogue Photo op.
Delay is smiling in the picture for political reasons. He has the best attorney money can buy, and was smart enough to choose an attorney who is nominally a democrat. For those of you wondering why Delay has been charged, he has been charged for laundering money to try to circumvent campaign finance laws. There is no question is behavior was sleezy, there is a question as to whether it was illegal. It's not wrong for us to post the picture. He's smiling because he's playing politics. One problem is, he thinks he's untouchable and above the law. Another problem is, he may be untouchable. For those of you complaining about us posting his mug shot and commenting on this. It's not wrong for the media to cover this story and it's not wrong for us to post his picture and talk about it. The GOP was supposed to, "bring honor and integrety back" to the federal government. Regardless of whether his conduct was technically illegal, it was sleezy and unethical. He has been warned by the ethics committee, comprised of mostly republicans, more than once. Similarly, the circumstances surrounding Frist's stock sale and Rove and Libby's role in the CIA leak lead one to question their integrity. The Republicans ran on a platform of morality, yet they have engaged in behavior that borderlines on illegality. As I recall, you Republicans were not questioning the motivation of the media and the motivation of Kenneth Starr 6 years ago. You shouldn't question the motivation of the media and the multiple prosecutors (some of whom are Republicans) involved in these investigations now. You gleefully gloated as George H Bush's former solicitor general, Kenneth Starr, probed into Clinton's personal life, and now you protest as multiple prosecutors investigate the OFFICIAL CONDUCT of Delay, Frist, Rove, Libby, and other Republicans. You can't have it both ways. If your leaders say they're going to end corruption and restore decency to government, they shouldn't be engaging in unethical behavior, let alone behavior that borders on illegality.
I don't think so Kev. We will not let alone behavior that borders illegality. We want it all out on both sides. There will be no room for it on either side it we are going to bring America back to what her forefathers fought for.
Besides, don't be such a hypocrite, your party was gloating for years with Ken Star going after Clinton. What you sow, ye shall reap.
Old quote Kev:
He who laughs best, laughs last.
I doubt this was politically motivated. Remember what Earle said about the charges:
Using corporate donations to boost the majority party is illegal. If you're going to use donations, they should come from taxpayers like you and me.
whoops sorry, should read "if we want to bring America back"
I hope DeLay is proven guilty but gets off scott-free.
If the republicans stand behind him, they will look as corrupt as DeLay, this will discredit them in 2006 and in 2008.
There's an idea.
I don't understand, this looks like a campaign photo. Where are the number below his face.
Simply hilarious. Tom Delay manages to piss off the left once again.
Dear Democratic National Committee:
This may be an upopular view, but I am extremely disappointed with the e-mail this morning RE; Mr. Delay's mugshot.
Surely no Democrat is enamored of Tom Delay’s politics or methods, but to a greater degree, no American should be celebrating the fact that a member of the United States Congress has been indicted and now booked like a common criminal.
I’ll go a step further: I honestly hope Mr. Delay is innocent of the charges. I don’t care for the idea that any elected official, of any party, no matter how much I disagree with his philosophy, is a law breaker. If guilty, I of course would want to see prosecution, but I still believe its better for America if members of Congress aren't criminals.
Let’s create a party that can once again best people like Delay on the floor of the House and in the polls, instead of sitting around hoping he’s just a crook.
Our lack of unified response on social security; Iraq; healthcare; job security; homeland security; education and the like has been deafening in its silence.
The polls and the public opinions are showing that while the American public is growing tired of the GOP’s antics, they are definitely not embracing the scattershot Democratic Party as any kind of alternative.
We need to fix this- America’s challenges are at the heart of great Democratic traditions: halting the war on the middle class; improving our schools; saving our jobs; inspiring new initiatives for environmental preservation and sustainable energy; recapturing fiscal responsibility; securing a woman's right to choose; creating a real sense of security in this country without sacrificing essential freedoms; preserving our nation’s heritage the most successful immigrant multi-culture in history; and finally, leaving a better, cleaner more inspiring world for our children.
Let us make America a Grand Republic again, and let us, the Democrats, be its Party
Thank you,
Matt in AmCan
My, my, my, you republicans just can't stay off this site can you. At least I have my chuckles for the day from all of you. Why in the world would his photo pi** anyone off. He looks like the town joker with that smile. At first I thought he was doing a commercial for IPANA toothpaste. (everybody remember "Bucky Beaver?") It's over for all of them and it is about time.
Don't wait on Moveon.org ... Get your Tom Delay Mug Shot t-shirt here.
I'm a Dem from Florida. I post every once in a while. Saw the thing on Delay. I have a dumb question. If this was a Dem, would we be prancing? It's one thing to take some shots, but what amount of time are we wasting on this when we could be affecting changes that are positive for issues, and people that need the attention more than Delay does.
We are the party of the people. Many of us have blue collar jobs, and would like to make sure that our friends out of work find jobs faster, based on what our party should be concentrating on, which are issues.
Where is a new job plan?
Where is a new health care initiative?
Where is a crime bill that concentrates on getting guns off the street?
Where is the national campaign to concentrate on issues.
All I see is us concentrating on the mistakes of a few in the Republican party.(Remember there is a reason they are in power! They are very very GOOD at getting their message out.)
Right now what I see us good at is continuing to throw mud on a situation that has plenty being thrown on it by the media.
Let's keep our eye on the local, state, and federal level issues, and let the Tom Delay's of the republican party take care of defending themselves and that other party from the questions of a free press.
LoOOOOVE that Delay Pic ! Looks like he just saw Nancy Pelosi get hit by a bus. LOVE IT !!!
I wish you could make it bigger baby !!
". . .and Mugwump is flabergasted that Texas republicans would be able to do this.-- last I heard, cops book and photograph..."
Have you ever seen a mugshot look like this? Seriously. Show me another mugshot that doesn't have measurements and an identification number. It stinks because it is preferential treatment. You and I could never be this "lucky"-- no cop would ever allow this if it happened to one of us.
I don't care who the defendent is-- whether it is Tom DeLay or Jim Traficant-- I just want people treated equally. It's clear that the authorities are going out of their way to give DeLay preferential treatment.
HaHaHaHaHaHaha,
Funny how the Truth always pulls the Fanatical Right wingers out from their little hiding places, like cockroaches in the night! You ARE in the minority, you know. 37%? approve of bush and his Criminal activities with our country and the world?????
I LOVE It. Keep it up, Freepers. You make my day, to know it is KILLING you all, that Frist, Rove, Delay, Abramoff, Libby, and Yes, Maybe god willing, even Cheney and Bush themselves are going DOWN! YIPEE. Keep up the good work.
Tell a Republican the truth and he'll call you a liar. Teach a Republican to think and he'll become a Democrat
mensakie,
You are such an ass and a fraud. Are you blogging from your parent’s basement?
Your suggestion that I was also referring to President Clinton lying about having sex when I said about DeLay's mug shot, "corrupt politicians alway smile", is what makes you an ass.
As far as the rest of your deluded rant is concerned, I won’t dignify anymore of it with a rebuttal. Except to say, in general it is nothing but an illogical, childish, emotional outburst, seething with indiscriminant rage and insulting verbal attacks against randomly targeted bloggers who do not have the same deluded and unpopular political viewpoints as your own.
Strange how in your verbal attack on us, your writing style is so similar to that of KKKarl Rove at his Ministry of Propaganda, Smears and Lies. Which brings me to my second accusation. What makes you a fraud is your abandonment of the ‘Non-aggression Principle’, which is the defining tenet of Libertarianism (better look it up). Therefore, you are no Libertarian as you claim to be.
On another point, I will admit that associating Rove and many Republican politicians with the KKK is not a fair assessment, because it is an understatement of their true evilness. For them, it is not really about race, religion or even political affiliation, it is really all about the money, power and imperialistic control, including absolute control over America.
They really are Fascists in the truest sense of the word, and will stop at nothing to destroy Democracy and control the world with their industrial military complex.
Lying to invade an inadequately armed country, and then killing over 100,000 innocent people in Iraq just to steal their oil reserves proves it. Stopping Tom DeLay is a good step in the right direction of stopping any further damage done by these evil Fascists.
THE CRIMES OF TOM DELAY (But only through Nov 03)
Get comfortable, this is a long read.
http://baltimore.indymedia.org/newswire/display/5640/index.php
A Haiku for Tom Delay
Live by the hammer
The cockroach gets hammered, SPLAT!
Die by the hammer
That ends my yammer about the hammer.
TO ALL THE REPUBLICANS COMING IN TO READ UP, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PARTY MEMBER AT 8:38 POST ABOVE. HERE IS YOUR PROUD PARTY AT IT'S FINEST! THE PARTY OF 'MORAL VALUES'. THE PARTY OF RELIGIOUS CONVICTION.
FEEL SHAME? YOU SHOULD.
WHAT A SICKO! LOL!
Don't worry about it, Pam.
Remember last year when this DNC blog had a thread called, 'Tom DeLay's House of Scandal,' that featured a pretend picture of Tom DeLay behind bars? The right excoriated them thoroughly for 'impuning the integrity of this fine man.' Now that it has come to the booking photo, and that had to compete for press with the Abramoff revelations, the Rove investigation, the fact that the governor of Kentucky is joining the current or recently former Republican governors of Connecticut, Illinois, and Ohio as the targets of a probe, trial or convicted, and such fine examples of ethical congressmen as Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham and DeLay's replacement, Roy Blunt, they can no longer defend the conduct of their elected officials, so all they have left to do is cuss.
Heck, even the President has fallen so far that even Republicans are running away from him in our nation's largest state.
ruanid10t at 09:02 AM and the rest of the Kool-aid drinkers,
We aren't talking about Pelosi in this thread because this is a thread about Tom DeLay, his indictment and his mug shot.
But just for the record, Pelosi's PACs improperly accepted donations over federal limits" and fined $21,000. This minor bookkeeping oversight infraction hardly compares with the long term intentional criminal conduct of Tom DeLay.
What's funny is your pathetic attempt to change the subject away from DeLay (so typical of Rethugs) because there is no defense for his crimes.
Also, numerous and substantiated facts about the crimes of DeLay have come to light. The evidence against him is voluminous and overwhelming.
http://baltimore.indymedia.org/newswire/display/5640/index.php
Therefore, we don't have to wait before he goes to court. We have every right to criticise him today and we have a duty to ask for his resignation today, before his upcoming smiley face conviction and smiley face sentencing.
Posted by a loser!!!!!!!!!!!! on October 23, 2005 at 10:38 AM,
YOu really have to get out of your parents' basement... unless you have been grounded, again.
That smiling face will get him in deep trouble when he’s sharing a prison cell.
Well I see the rightwing Freepers have sent their finest mind(?) to come and....well, I guess to show us what complete and total morons they are.
I do like the comment about: Tell a repuglican the truth and he will call you a liar, teach a repuglican how to think and he will become a democrat.
To the Freeper trolls, just keep this in mind: A repug mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Boy if the republican children haven't came to this thread in droves. They stomp their little feet, and cry, squaling out one mis-truth after another, just like a little kid caught doing something naughty. I actually love to see this happen, when their tears are big as horse turds rolling of their chins. They just dont know how bad this looks on them, even though the GOP is sending them here, and paying them to do it. So I say to all you republicans, stomp that little foot, cry and shout those lies, cry them big tears, as this is only the beginning of things yet to come. You think you'll cry now, just wait until the whole Bush house of cards come tumbling down! Now cry for me, cry, cry, cry! Every post you make, makes you look 10 times worse, and only strengthens out party more. You may think you can come here and change minds, but no, it's doing just the opposite, so cry, cry, cry little babies, cry some more. I'd about pay you myself to come here, so all can see how rotten you are with your mis-truths, while strengthening our party that much more. Cry little babies, cry, cry, cry! Post more comments, I love every bit of it, now cry some more little republicans, cry, cry, cry!!! There other conservatives watching you, and have switched to the Democrats over your posts so cry all you want, post some more! They see how dirty you are and come asking to join us, it's happened several times in the last few weeks so cry little babies, cry some more.
Hi ya, Eli, and will
Will,
Unfortunetly, these aren't children. I feel embarassed for the Real Republican Party when they are represented by very sick people like this.
Even the Freepers at Free Republic are not this mentally ill. I know some REpublicans who voted for Bush, who wish they could take their votes back now.
This is a good article by Zogby:
"But that may be changing. And it could threaten the Republican House majority that DeLay helped create and the conservative agenda he helped advance. DeLay, 58, is getting the most intense scrutiny of his career. He's under fire for several ethics infractions, for his relationship with a lobbyist who is under federal investigation and for comments on judges that critics say could incite violence. (Related: DeLay fundraising plied special interests)
One Republican maverick, Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., last spring said DeLay "is hurting this Republican majority." Even conservatives are restive over the barrage of negative publicity: Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said on national television that DeLay must answer the ethics charges, and the usually pro-Republican Wall Street Journal editorial page accused the majority leader of turning from big-government critic to an "exemplar of some of its worst habits."
The man known on Capitol Hill as "The Hammer" is getting hammered.
Of greater concern to DeLay's allies than the judge controversy are charges of unethical behavior. Even those who call the allegations unfair worry that they could cost DeLay support.
DeLay has been admonished more by the House Ethics Committee than any sitting member of Congress.
Can't take credit for this, written as a Letter to Editor:
"The Republican Party and their leaders are imploding. The list is long of the corrupt atmosphere that surrounds the White House. Speaker of The House, Tom Delay is under indictment. His political career is finished. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is under investigation for selling millions of dollars of stock one month before the price dropped significantly. David Safavian, a top federal procurement official in the White House was arrested for allegedly lying to officials and obstructing an investigation in his relationship with Jack Abramoff, a lobbyist who made millions for the republicans. Mr. Abramoff was arrested on charges of fraud in connection with a casino deal in Florida. Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff have had long business deals going back many years ago when the republicans were shoring up their strangle hold on the political front. It has come full circle. Never again can the republicans point their fingers at the democrats and accuse them of dirty play. They have to clean up their own house first.
In case any open-minded Republicans drop in, this is an excellent review of how this administration has taken your Party, and totally reversed what it was set out to be:
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_rob_kall_050917_republicans__biggest.htm
I think a better way to say "culture of corruption" is to get to the real point... the selling (re-duc[k]tion in values).... values don't mean much if they are up for sale... that is, unless you value money and power over other values...
