Democratic ExPat Leadership Council (DexPats)

The Democratic ExPat Leadership Council (DexPat) is the Democratic National Committee's major donor program for Americans living overseas. Since its recent launch, DexPat has offered members the opportunity to participate in Party politics in a way previously not possible for US citizens abroad. Members attend small gatherings with major Party figures, take part in global conference calls on pertinent issues, and receive invitations to special functions, large and small. Recently DexPat hosted DNC Chairman Governor Howard Dean and Executive Director Tom McMahon in London and Madrid, General Wesley Clark in London, Congressman Barney Frank in Geneva, along with many more.

Over the past few years, the DNC has come to appreciate the generous support that American expatriates have given to Democratic candidates in critical elections. It created DexPat in recognition of that support, and to build a network among major donors that will not only serve the Democratic Party, but those individuals who choose to join.

As US citizens directly affected by our country’s foreign policy and global initiatives, we offer our Party a unique and valued perspective. At gatherings with Party leaders, we have the opportunity to stress our priorities among the many issues competing for precedence. Finally, perhaps it goes without saying that DexPat members share a commitment to core Democratic values and that like all DNC Leadership organizations, will help fund the candidates and campaigns working to restore American strength and global stability.

DexPat members contribute at various levels from $2,500 to $28,500, and in return are welcome to a number of special events in cities throughout the world where major contributors live, including an annual DexPat dinner in Washington, DC with prominent Party leaders. Finally, the DNC encourages DexPat members to enjoy active affiliation with other leadership councils within the Party, such as the Women’s Leadership Forum, Democratic Business Council, African American Leadership Council, South Asian Leadership Council, Hispanic American Leadership Council, Indo American Leadership Council, Gay and Lesbian Leadership Council, and more.
