Organizing Kickoff a Huge Success
From a meeting in lawn chairs under lights powered by a generator in New Orleans to meetings by Democrats Abroad in twenty foreign countries, last night Democrats gathered together in more than 1,000 communities to organize for the 2006 elections and beyond.
Here's what one meeting host in Texas had to say
in the hours before her event started:
My guests are coming over in two hours. I have the all the host materials downloaded. I've been to Kinkos to copy a handout of the power point presentation. I've got the name tags ready to go and a sign up sheet. I also have voter registration materials for people who need to register. I have five Democracy Bond packets printed out and ready. I have my computer set up to enter volunteer information online. A friend is bringing over a laptop and projector for the power point presentation. I expect to have 15 people, maybe more.
That same host
checked in after her event:
We expected 15 but we had a total of 34 people! I'm very encouraged about the strength of the Democratic Party in this conservative stronghold.... The conference call with Gov. Dean was inspiring to the Nth degree.
