Lamar Discourages Negative Advertising...

Posted by on December 7, 2005 at 04:42 PM

...remember? They turned down your billboard 48 hours after they received the artwork and 24 hours after the contract was signed. You might recall they did so because they deemed the ads "negative," and they don't run negative ads. Except, it would seem, in special circumstances:

Oh man...I would love to say that I'm shocked, but I'm not. This is just and insanely hateful and inaccurate piece of work and it's disgusting that they would deny your billboard on that grounds that it's "negative". My guess would be that in actuality, Lamar doesn't run ads that are "negative (against Republicans)." They'll be hearing from me.

What???????? I am outraged! But, then again, I was outraged in 2000 and 2004. When is the party going to get its act together and stand up to this kind of thing?

I have sent each email PamB listed a complaint listed below, lets see if they reply.

I do not understand why you would produce such a malicious advertisement, only to tell the DNC you don’t produce “negative” ads. What do you define negative? The way I, and many others, see this is Lamar excludes business to individuals based on their beliefs. If this is incorrect in any way by all means explain to me why.

Hey, Tim,

I did a little googling and found that Lamar and the Lamar family are bigtime donors to Republican campaigns and PACs. That really needs to be put in their faces -- that we can easily build a case that they are cherry-picking what "negative" is.

Not that the picture you posted doesn't already stand pretty clear.

We knew who Lamar were -- now we know what they are.

Bill

It's not really surprising. Atheists are the last minority that it's perfectly acceptable to discriminate against.

Though I would LOVE to hear their pathetic excuse as to why THIS flat out threat is acceptable, but not the other request.

This outrage should not & cannot stand.
I note the good rev. Briggs gave a P.O box, rather than his true address.
Perhaps it is because he's insecure about his righteous invisible friend coming to his rescue?
I'm writing him a letter. US mail. I advise everyone else here to do the same.
Fas-theists get right up my nose, they do.
They could stand a few good civics courses, IMO.

Nowhere in the Constitution does the word "God" appear (either as a noun or a verb). Instead, it uses Creator (as a verb). No one needs to believe in a god(or goddess) to be a good American. "Reverend" E. F. Briggs, obviously, has never read the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights (Amendment 1). Brigg's overt proselytization for the GOP is a disgrace to both the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and shows his own knowledge of American history to be, at best, weak.

Welcome to the Bible Belt, this is just the tip of the iceberg of a frozen mind set of fundamentalism that lies between the front cover and the back cover of the good book and the middlemen who profit from the tithes of their flock - who rely on a translated version of a translated version of something else that even they do not know or understand, whose lines do not match the original text or language of the original culture in situ in history and pre history.
Culture, anthropology, history??? No, just look between the front cover and the back cover, otherwise you are a sinner and that's about it. You have just been given a mere glimpse of what is known as the de culting exercise in frustration at trying to open very closed minds, minds like stones that are thrown in glass houses by frozen Medusas, but then how would they even comprehend the story of Medusa in the ancient Greek myths? No, they just keep looking for the old man with the beard on the white cloud up there somewhere.
God help us all and our pointed little heads and would they know any Hebrew, or that Joshua the Nazorite was crucified on a cross which was a Roman punishment and that thousands of Jews were crucified by the Romans and that the Jewish punishment for treason was stoning and they were forbidden to crucify, or the torah, or the talmud or the Pentateuch, or the Epic of Gilgamesh, or the Dead Sea Scrolls, or the Nag Hammadi or the accounts of the arrival of the Marys along the French coastline near Marsielles, or the holy grail, or any of that sinful history that led to the son of Mary Stewart raised by Queen Elizabeth by the name of King James one year who wrote that good book during a reformation and counter reformation where thousands were tortured and killed?
Yes, we wonder how to de cult the frozen stones where every thing stays the same in eternal condemnation forever and ever, and they only have to keep pointing fingers at the sinners out there and they will burn in Hell, amen.
Sounds like something "over there", doesn't it...but alas, it is just the reflection of the same thing.
