Kicking Ass: The Democratic Party's Blog

'The DeLay Effect'

Posted by Joe Rospars on December 13, 2005 at 04:55 PM

Rampant corruption among Republican leaders in Congress -- including, but not limited to, disgraced former Majority Leader Tom DeLay -- is starting to take its toll:

GOP media strategist Patrick Hynes has a scoop today about Republican internal polling numbers from House swing districts that show the Tom DeLay scandal and the Democratic drumbeat about a "culture of corruption" on Capitol Hill is having a very negative effect on the GOP candidates.

According to the polling: "No fewer than four Republican members of Congress in 'vulnerable' seats have received recent internal polling data that shows 'a Tom DeLay effect' that appears to give 'any Democrat' on the ballot question an average of 10 percentage points against the incumbent."

Hynes also reports "these polls came up at a recent House Republican Conference meeting, with a number of members expressing serious alarm about the GOP’s prospects in 2006."

It seems even DeLay's lackey's in the House are beginning to realize that if they hope to be reelected the corrupt status quo in the Republican leadership is unsustainable.

Thanks for posting this news on DeLay.
It seems that this last week with the big beef up for the Republican Party on the media, there was absolutely nothing further mentioned on any of the basic cable channels about Tom DeLay.
He just disappeared in some whitewash whiteout zone.
Guess they were hoping we would all forget? Don't think so what with the redistricting thing and its effect on un-evening the votes in Texas!!!
I remember this wonderful woman from Texas during the Clinton campaign, boy could she speak and she was so full of life and wit. She had blonde hair, wisdom and experience and made me proud to be an American woman. I cannot remember her name. Can anyone out there?
She was such an inspiration for all of us and I appreciate that we had her in the Democratic Party back then.
Thanks, M.

Corruption .... below is the worst form of corruption... using faith to hide one's real policies...

Torture and the Constitution ....

Yes, by any standard the G. Bush supports and has developed a systematic Torture policy. And his administration is executing the policy.

Bush hides behind the Christain Faith.... I'm not aware of any Christain faith that supports and would agree to institute policies that support torture...

Like it or not .... Bush is not acting as a Christain would.... evil is knowingly doing something that violates our basic constitution ... and thankfully the US Constitution aligns with the comon good.

Simply put, Bush policies on torture are NOT CHRISTAIN. PERIOD.

Yes.. those words hurt... me ... you ... our Country and the world at large....

My hat is off to Ron Earle. The damage done to Texas politics by DeLay has been devastating. We have alot of work to do here to turn this ship around, and we won't be able to do it without people like Earle who have some leverage and integrity.

Re Dubya & religion: he is not a Christian, he is a fascist (he serves corporations, not his faith).
