Watch Parties Getting Started
Posted by Josh McConaha on January 31, 2006 at 06:38 PM
We've heard from a lot of hosts over the course of the day, and everyone seems excited to get going. I called one host this morning to see how her preperations were going, and she said that she was starting at 11am - before her Republican husband got home. She sent us a picture just a few minutes ago which pretty much sums up what you'll hear tonight...

42 Democrats voted against Alito, a sufficient number to sustain a filibuster or to force the Republicans to follow through on their threat to blow up the cloture rule (even if Chaffee had flipped his vote on a cloture vote).
So there it is - evidence of EXACTLY what is wrong with this party. No will, no courage, no principles. Plenty of posturing ("Hey - I voted against Alito, right?" and "Hey - I actually CALLED for a filibuster - remember, Hillary?"), but not enough gonad among the lot of them to make a fight on principle - even at the cost of...HORRORS!!!!...losing.
You think I'm "cynical," boys and girls? There's nothing more cynical than a cowardly, capitulating elected Democrat. All nuance, no guts. No principle worth fighting for except the principle of triangulating themselves into reelection.
What a pathetic bunch. All they have to offer is that they are the "alternative" to Republicans, but when it comes time to put up and prove that they really do offer an alternative, they hide under tables.
Fuck the Democratic Party. Every time these useless, spineless turds do something like this, another three hundred thousand voters - the poor, the unemployed, the defenseless - shrug their shoulders and say "What the fuck - if they're not going to do anything for me then I might as well vote for Republicans - crumbs are better than nothing."
Howard - quit your day job and go third party. This truly is the end of the Road to Nowhere.

Please, get some spine! Only 25 voting against cloture is a crime. If the Democrats don't do something, who will? I'm starting to shop for other countries to live in since my chosen party refuses to stand up to the totalitarianism. I'd suggest a hard talking-to to Dems that did not vote in the best interests of this country. You WILL NOT keep your support if you continue the spineless kowtowing to try to keep your seats in Congress. We are mad as hell and we're not going to take YOU anymore unless you start to protect our rights!
Watch the State of the Union? Why bother? I don't need to hear anymore lies. Well the Dems answer? With some kind of wimpy response. Let me firmly state that you must start representing the liberals or you may as well just pack your bags and go home.
Mad as hell? You're damned right, I am.

Who chose Time Kaine to give our rebuttal? The speech was wonderful; the delivery was scary. No wonder we can't get the American people to see the light.

$250 Raised at the IllinoisDemNet SOTU 'Dem Victory' Night Event
Many of the people who came to our event in Downtown Chicago don't even have a job. That didn't matter. We had half a dozen speakers and raised over $250 for the DNC. Mike Quigley came. John Sullivan came. Edwin Eisendrath came. We also had a number of judges running as well. See some of the pictures here...
