Happy One Year Anniversary Chairman Dean
Posted by on February 12, 2006 at 02:45 AM
One year ago today, Governor Dean was elected Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Since that day, priority number one has been building organization in each of the fifty states and multiple U.S. teritories. Over the course of the next few days, we will have video clips for you from various state party chairs talking about how the new organizational structure has had an impact in their backyard, a message from Governor Dean to you in the grassroots who make these success stories possible, and other assorted goodies.

A number of the state chairs, executive directors, and other staff are in D.C. for the weekend participating in various discussions and trainings. In fact, this morning at around 10:30 A.M., Joe Rospars and I are slated to give instruction on online organizing--something many of the statewide leaders have expressed a tremendous amount of interest in already this weekend.
And don't forget to start and promote your own personal fundraising page in celebration of Governor Dean's one year anniversary -- or just hit the one below.

Keep Coming Back... We'll have frequent updates about the impact of the fifty state strategy from across the country over the next few days.

Given the current state of our Nation, Howard Dean has done a great job. Hey Tim, maybe you should know that I supported Howard Dean for President from day one.
The people of this country were virtually in a stupor in 2003, with the war in Iraq, um, accomplished according to bush or not.
Dean woke many people up. His BLOG enabled people to learn what was occuring in our country.
You took the time to post a Anniversary thread...but where is the Open Thread.
Since this blog began, of course there were posts regarding certain topics occuring in the news but there was always an Open Thread for the bloggers to post what they had read or found THAT DAY in the news.
On behalf of my 77 year old mother, who has been a registered Democrat since day one...She asks that the DNC Blog, which she reads, post threads about DAILY NEWS. Remember Cindy Sheehan, Peace Protest in DC, Alito??? Not a thread posted about them. WHY??
I know people have offered their services to get this blog back to a place where it was last June. There is a grassroots community here, but I fear they have left for the obvious reasons I already stated.
One example you know quite well.
How about starting with this?? The People are asking
A person is one of nature's greatest gifts, imagine what they could do when they work together.
POST THE TRANSCRIPT FROM FACE THE NATION, please.
Dr. Dean did a superb job on Face the Nation (as he always does)
Some of the Democrat "hold outs" for DEAN that still hold a grudge against him over some other candidate from HISTORY (NOW) should watch his defense of democrats OVER AND OVER in strong straight talk.
I've never heard ANY other democrat including the all powerful HILLARY ever be as honest and forthright!
Streak you need to GET OVER IT!!
DEAN is the BEST thing our party has goin for it right now!!
jmo but that's the only one I care about really! :-P
GO DEMOCRATS!!!! TAKE THE HOUSE AND SENATE BACKIN 06!!! THANKS HOWARD!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
Sincerly,
Dawn (blogger)

You've answered your own question, Lizzie. Anti-war Howard has toned down his message...he isn't anti-war Howard any more. With mid-terms coming up, they will play it safe.
We are, as bb said well, two standard deviations left of the center...and that, my friend, is the hard, cold truth of politics. Cindy, the anti-war movement and a lot of what we embrace here is not viable out in the world of corporate politics. Do i HATE that? yeah Do we have the influence, the money or the power to do anything but be a well-educated fringe? Not YET...but we can move the left toward the center with truth the way the right moved the center with hatred, prejucice and fear.
The corporatocracy is non-partisan. We the people are a minority group.
Lizzy, far more often than not I post at least one open thread a day. I don't know what else to tell you. In my mind, telling the story of the successes in the first year of the 50 state strategy at 3:00 AM on the day of Governor Dean's anniversary trumped the open thread.
As far as the kos diary you link to... Say what you will, but I didn't basically volunteer five months of my life as part of the Chuck Pennacchio campaign because I don't care about the things Teresa was talking about. It's unfortunate that she called me out as not responding to her, when I did, in that entry, twice, that day, and one of the two comments even had her name as the subject line.
Say what you will, but traffic was gone up, comments have gone up, links in have gone up over the past 3 months.
Thanks.
Tim
Tim, I am not calling you out on anything and I am not disputing the fact that you should post an anniversary thread for Dr. Dean. I did not say that. You should!!!
All I asked was why was there no open thread as well. In regard to readership, you would know moe than I, as we have no way of viewing what the readership is here. However as far as comments/commentors...that my friend is a different story entirely.
Lastly, regarding Kos, [reply to this] would have alleviated alot of problems...just saying.
So, Sir, thank you for the Open thread and Peace!
Governor Dean has done more for the Democratic Party and any Democrat in the past 50 years. He is our greatest asset. It is about time the Democrats on the Hill start recognizing that fact. When on when will they ever get a backbone? Dean has a message that resonates and has been trying for a full year to get the Democrats to start using it. It makes sense, it is a message that is universal and it places the Democratic agenda in the forefront of the hearts and minds of the public. Why are the Hill people not running with it? Why are they not using the advantage they have over the corruption in the Republican Party? Why don't they develop a backbone. Is it that they are jealous of Dean and his ability to reach the people?
I love to read through all the comments on all the articles. Some of the people really have some good ideas. But, some just take up space. I am still looking for even one negitive comment that made History. Most are worded to become postive, whether it is a comment or a suggestion.
Keep up the good work. Do you think Democrats are more negitive or do you think Republicans are? Do you ever hear a Republican running down a Republican? I sometimes feel sorry for Scott McCalland, he really has a hard time turning every negative question into a postive compliment toward the President and or his Cabinet.
The worst thing to happen to our party is that Howard Dean has been the chairman for the past year. He has accomplished nothing and is viewed as a nut by those in flyover country that we are going to have to win to get back in the White House. Our party is like a chicken with its head cut off. You have Ted Kennedy, Pat Leahy & Kerry looking foolish in the Alito hearings and Nancy Pelosi babbling about who knows what. The only strategy Dr Dean is employing is bash Bush and blame him for everything. Haven't we learned that strategy doesn't work? We need someone like Bill Richardson who actually puts forth a few ideas leading out party. Anyone can identify the problems our country has. Dean is giving no direction on solving those problems just bashing Bush. Dean needs to realize that Bush isn't running for anything again. We need a consistent - coherent message. Lets start by getting a new head of the party.
