Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

Join us for the 2006 AAPI Democratic Leadership Summit

On behalf of the Democratic National Committee, we are pleased to announce the first national Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Democratic Leadership Summit, to be held on March 31st and April 1st, 2006, at the Marriott Hotel in San Jose, California. The theme of the summit will be Moving Forward: From the Table to the Ticket. Our program begins Friday afternoon with a training session for political activists and continues through the day on Saturday, with strategy meetings on the AAPI agenda within the Democratic Party.

We are very excited to create this historic opportunity to bring together AAPI Democrats from across the country, ranging from our elected officials and candidates, to community leaders, grassroots activists, political and campaign operatives, business owners and emerging young leaders in our community.

Please see the attached sheet for details on the summit's location, hotel and registration information. While there is no registration fee, space is limited so it is necessary that all attendees register prior to the summit. This will enable us to provide you with the best possible speakers, panelists, breakout sessions and conference materials.

The past two years have been very exciting for AAPI Democrats, with victories in state and local elections in California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and Texas. We are truly moving from a place at the table to a place on the ticket, and we look forward to meeting with you in April!

Sincerely,

Governor Howard Dean, M.D.
Chairman

Congressman Mike Honda
Vice Chair

Bel Leong-Hong
Chair, DNC APIA Caucus
