Tulane College Democrats Launch New Year for New Orleans
Washington, DC - This Saturday, College Democrats will begin their New Year for New Orleans program, a community recovery project in partnership with Tulane College Democrats, Louisiana College Democrats, ACORN and various other organizations. The four-day program will bring volunteers together from all over the country to help rebuild and revitalize New Orleans.
Tulane College Democrats are expecting up to 200 volunteers to help rebuild houses with Habitat for Humanity.
"I am especially proud that Tulane College Democrats have taken the lead on organizing this tremendous community revitalization effort," said College Democrats President Grant Woodard. "In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we have seen a strong outpouring of help from Americans, and College Democrats are proud to be part of that effort. This is proof positive that if we unite as a community, together America can do better."
