Katherine Harris:

U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris continued her attempt to take her campaign to national television and to add religious overtones to her quest for a U.S. Senate seat with an appearance on ABC News "Nightline" Tuesday. Harris told John Donvan, of "Nightline," that she intends to sell all her personal assets to fund the race. "My husband has real estate, but I will not own anything." [...]

"I am willing to take this widow's mite, this pearl of great price, and put everything on the line," she told Donvan. "No matter how much you have, are you willing to take what you have and sell it all for a great price?"

Not exactly a model of fiscal responsibility, but alright. And if all else fails, she could tour the country visiting her possesions and write about a book about it... but that's already been done. As for the "widows mite" and "pearl of great price" quotes, the article also notes that those are biblical references to individuals who gave much, or everything they owned, for the church. Quite a comparsison, especially when you consider her current husband is no pauper; together, their wealth is measured up to $36.9 million.

Re: "widow's mite"

It's also Lent. In our church (Episcopal) the children are putting money into mite boxes to bring with them on Easter Sunday.

She's covered all the bases here.

Yup, she's putting it all on the line.

DeLay could borrow Harris's face and go back into the vermin extermination business.

At what altar does this woman pray?

She isn't a widow. She isn't giving up all her and her husband's wealth. Instead, she's spending it all on herself...not any religious charity. (Unless all that makeup she wears is part of some bizarre religious rite).

She's been involved in enough shady deals already. Now she wants to drag the Lord into it? What's she going to do next...dress up like a nun and take a vow of chastity and poverty?

Glad she decided to stay in the race. Her "personal sacrifice" should play well when all those seniors in Florida get hit by the Medicare perscription drug donuthole... during the hurricane season no less. Maybe FEMA will offer her some assistance?

Yep, and Katherine Harris' dad died a couple of months ago leaving her ten million as her share of the inheritance. She says she intends to "spend it all!" ain't that what all them Republicans do, is spend it all?

"Harris' voice was often very dramatic as were her words. She declared, "Let me tell you what the truth is. I’m staying. I’m in this race. I’m going to win. And let me tell you how. I’m going to put EVERYTHING on the line. Everything, not just my future and my reputation, my father's name. I’m gonna take his legacy… Everything that I have and I’m gonna put it in this race. I’m going to commit my legacy from my father, $10 million… This is everything that I have...read on

This Katherine Harris is no more a Christian than a TOAD? Why do I say that?

The pearl of great prize that God's Word is talking about is the Gospel Of Jesus Christ? Matthew 13:46 Is that what she will take with her? "She better carry a Bible and a Concordance," so she can look up these Words of Great Prize and not appear to be so ignorant.
The two mites that the widow threw into the collection plate was for the Lord's Poor Saints and the Lord's Work. The Lord's Work is hardly giving to the King and that is what she is saying, about giving to Government.

All our Democrats have to do is consult a smart Preacher, or look it up themselves in the Bible. and they can confirm what I say, and beat her like a drum.
