Quote of the Day
Senator/Presidential Candidate George Allen:
I think if you reward illegal behavior, you'll get more illegal behavior," said Sen. George Allen, a Virginia Republican.

"if you elect an idiot they will appoint more idiots"...as the senator, a well known holier than thouist, knows george and dick begat rummy and condi, condi and rummy begat feith and bolton and so on....i imagine a president allen would first work his way thru the entire disney cartoon cast and them move on to daffy duck and the rest at looney tunes...
He makes a good point. In 1986, the last time illegals were granted amnesty, President Reagan suggested that the only way to prevent the same from happening again was to enforce the law by preventing illegal entry and deporting those able to get in anyway as soon as they were identified.
There were an estimated 5 million illegals then and now, twenty years later, there are an estimated 11 million, more than double the earlier amount. It appears as though illegal immigration is on the rise and we might assume that President Reagan's amnesty program, along with the fact that the law was not enforced is to blame. Reagan rewarded illegal behavior which appears to have encouraged more of the same so there is no reason to expect anything different the second time around.
Russ Feingold should jump all over that one!
Are we, in American redefining the word Illegal?
If so, how about all those people in our prisons that have not committed violent felonies? Say, people who don't deal drugs, but get caught with them in thier posession.
Should we give them Amnesty too?
After all, most of the drug traffic is coming out of Mexico.
Please.
Illegal = Breaking the Law = Penalty.
I challenge any illegal to explain how they are legally paying taxes? Doesn't being taxed mean you have to have a Social Security number? OOPS, I smell another Felony right around the corner. Maybe a couple Felonies.
And all the Illegals who use our healthcare system, 1.4 billion dollars worth in 2004 in California alone, not to mention the rest of the US, as well as 1/3 of our prison population is Illegal aliens at the average cost of 70.00 per day per prisoner. I'd say 10.5 billion for 5 years of deportation is worth it. That's a one time shot. After five years, it's over. Better than facing year after year of draining effects as a result of the governments neglect of this issue.
No wonder California can't get there budget balanced.
And it doesn't matter what country you originate from. The 911 high jackers were here Illegally.
They were not from Mexico, so let's stop listening to the people who want to make it a Mexican issue. It's a SECURITY ISSUE FOLKS!!! Wake up and get tuff. Otherwise we will lose this war.
Hey, maybe we can give the Mexicans Amnesty and kick out all the other illegals. Would that make all you human exploiters happy? Sheesh, this is just as stupid an idea as saying it is a racial thing.
And for the clergy who help these people? Well, yes, they should be prosecuted. They are breaking the law.
I know a young black American , who's life was destroyed, because his Mom gave him 500.00 dollars for a telephone bill she owed him. Well, the Mom got the money from her older son, who was a convicted drug dealer (Felony).
Well, this young man is serving 7 years prison time now for money laundering for receiving money he had no clue was from his brothers illegal activity.
He has left behind, a good job, a good reputation, a wife and a child who are suffering because of this. And many bewildered friends and loved ones.
So, no, the Clergy, Corporations, and anyone who aids and abetts a felon needs to pay the penalty.
As others do who are Americans.
Why are all of these people marching around with Mexican and American flags, and signs saying "We are not criminals?" I don't get it. People who break the law are what? if not criminals. If anyone from any country enters a country illegally, they are a criminal.
Possibly, because I live away from the heavy immigration states, I might be removed from the issue. The fact is that I live in the hardest hit state as far as loss of jobs, and when I was watching CNN the other evening, the Republican Senator, Jon Kyl, was proposing an amendment to the proposed bill on Immigration Reform. This was the committee that will put together the Immigration Bill. Sen. Kyl proposed that the government would have cotrol over the number of immigrants permitted to come into the country to work, depending on the need. He was proposing that if the unemployment rate exceeded ll%, YES ELEVEN PERCENT!, no immigrants would be permitted to enter the United States to work, because Americans would need the work!
THIS IS CRAZY. What is even crazier, is that the Democratic senators, including Sen. Edward Kennedy, said they would support this ammendment.
What is happening here? The only person on the committee who questioned the fact that ELEVEN PERCENT UNEMPLOYMENT was too high, twice as high as it is right now, was a Republican Senator.
I'm watching everyday and paying alot of attention to this issue. If you watched Lou Dobbs
Last night 92% of the American people do not want Amnesty for Illegals.
The Democrats better stand up and notice this. Kennedy and McCain are whittling away my vote.
I've heard many comments made about the kids that are protesting in the streets. As they are born in America but have parents or grandparents that would be effected if we sent all the illegal's back to their countries. Well has anyone realized that they are a symbol of how much we are paying in Medicaid costs because no illegal pays for thier own healthcare?
This is the thanks we get folks. Our young American Anchor Kids are fighting for Crime instead of against it.
What a Joke.
I don't understand why state governments don't just send bills to Mexico and the other countries whose citizens migrate here when one of their citizens uses our support systems. If we were in these other countries I doubt if those countries would support us. I wonder how much those countries save every year by not having to educate and medicate their citizens.
Maybe if it became too expensive for these countries to have us support their people they might come up with some idea of how to support their own people.
If you calculate how much illegals are saving us by doing the jobs we won't do against how much it costs us in social services to have the illegals do these jobs, there might be a different picture here.
There also might be a different approach to the border issue with other countries involved, not just ours. For example, Canada charges a fee to immigrate. The U.S. could charge a fee to immigrate. Canada demands identity papers before immigrating. The U.S. could demand identity papers. There are things that can be done to control immigration. One of them is not to re-invent the wheel.
