And We're Off

There are a few of us here at DNCHQ ready to take phone calls from event organizers and attendees who have problems (so far, only one call). Jason, who works here in the Political Department, called one of the DNC organizers in Allentown, PA and said the noise in the background was encouraging.
If you're headed to a canvass today, we want to hear about your experience (for better or worse). Be sure to email your storys and photos to April29@dnc.org (and put your photos on Democratic Flickr).

We planned so well...20 volunteers divided into teams of two with our 500 door hangers and literature ready. But 30 people showed up and we had a cheerful scramble to get our block lists and literature divided up so everyone could participate.
We will have to do this again as we ran out of stuff. I think the volunteers are going to feel like they were not challenged because we set our expectations too low. Had we known the turnout would be so enthusiastic we would have asked for 750 -1000 door hangers.
Yea, growing momentum, take back 06 and 08!
I agree we ran out of door hangers too !!!! Great but it would've been cool to have been able to put this energy into even more use. We definitely need to do more of this.
Other than that I suggest we put the election date on the door hangers and even put a place to register to vote on them as well. These are two pieces of information more and more people will need to know coming up on November!!.
Go Democrats!!!
Great to hear more showed up than expected!
It proves the country is ahead of the media and the administration. WE are READY for CHANGE NOW!!! Not in 08!
DEMOCRATS TAKE BACK THE HOUSE IN NOVEMBER THAN IMPEACH THEM ALLLLLLLLLL!
WOOHOO!
EVery Door Hanger we put out in the future should have the date of the next General Election, which is Tuesday, November 7th, this year (2006). We should also put on their the website www.yourvotematter.org so that anyone who isn't registered to vote can easily do so if they have an internet connection. Which is why we as Democrats should push for free internet access nation wide.
As far as the Doorhangers are concerned, I know it's a pain but it might be a good idea to make a "low-budget" version that:
1. Prints 2-to-the-page 'Handbill-style'
2. Looks good printed out on a B&W printer or photocopier.
Basically what we had to do was make our own low budget version: See here...
