Getting Started

We just heard from an organizer in Boston who said that, even a half-hour before the canvass is set to start, there are already 50 people ready and waiting to go. The Boston Globe is interested in their event and may stop by to see how it's going.
Governor Dean was also on CNN 15 minutes ago from Charlotte, NC, where he's canvassing today. His interview was fantastic, and if I can get my hands on it, I'll post it here.
Also, mcjoan from Daily Kos had a great write-up on the canvass today which you should be sure to check out.

You guys rock....I am stuck at work in NM....
I already gave away 75 hangers to other people that were interested in walking around and getting a little exercise while doing the work to get this Planet back on track. In other words if I had more I would've loved to give them to them. 25 hangers per person isn't going to get the job done. We need to put more of our commercial (TV) money into passing these things around to active members of our communities who like to walk around spreading good news. TAke it easy and keep walking...
can someone tell me who to contact in New Mexico Las Cruces to be exact about getting involved with this stuff I emailed the state dem office no response
Great way to communicate with voters without a media filter..let them speak to real ordinary Democrats. For so long the party has neglected its personal outreach in favor of media stuff. So generations of people only knew about the Democratic agenda through Rush Limbaugh (bah) and other disorters.

The information you just have acquired is shocking and contrary to what we are told by our government. Everything in this e-mail and web-page can be easily verified so don’t just take our word for it. Take the time to verify it for yourself. Our Country’s future is at stake. Our country has been hijacked and our nation is in serious trouble. Now there is tangible evidence and yet our government is still lying to us to protect the Bush administration from prosecution for treason. Our government did everything they could to try to stop us from hearing what really took place and how our people died in New York at the World Trade Center. It took a court order and three years of litigation to obtain these audiotapes that our government does not want you to hear. In this web-page are five clips from a surveillance camera that was outside the Pentagon during the 9/11 attacks, and former immigration officer for Homeland Security, Mary Schneider, implicates the Bush administration. Eyewitnesses at the scene speak out about the World Trade Center collapse, and the voices of the rescue workers from audio tape 776923 where a rescue worker yelled out "EXPLOSION!" as his radio went dead and the 26th floor exploded and one of the World Trade Center buildings collapsed. Click here for more information: http://liar-55.tripod.com/index.html We need to bring the Bush administration to justice for what they have done to our country and for the murders of our people. Thank you for listening.
I agree with you Joseph. I agree. I'm putting me energy right now though into turning this tide in November. Hopefully then the real evidence can come out and we can Impeach this fool. I agree.
FYI--some thoughts on the upcoming National Day of Prayer here.
What a great response from my precint! I live in one of the most Republican counties in the country, Du Page a wealthy county just right out of Chicago. We were armed with door hangers, and the article on the DNC site, "Bush Late to the Party on Gas Prices." Gas is an average of $3.00 a gallon here.
We saw 2 things today.
1. There are so many people who don't vote who are motivated to now. It was too bad we could not register voters as we canvassed. That will be next on our agenda.
2. Many of the Republicans we spoke to are fed up and can be swayed.
As I see it (from the feedback from today), we have golden oppurtinity to engage more people then in the past. Independent voters and non-voters are the key. That is where our focus will be.
Door to door, person to person.

Listen up folks, we who feel this way are serious.
like the threats stravu9, very democratic of you.
stravu grow up or else start eating your ragu. Weak. You will not thrive.
Hey Jwn,
What would be Democratic would be to put the immigration issue to a popular vote and see what the majority of American and or Demoratic voters think about it!
Already thriving , thanks. Which is more than I can say for our Democratic Party of late.

Mexicans aren't the reason that Americans don't have good jobs, that their salaries have come down, that the money they do have isn't going as far...they aren't the enemy or the problem. Actually if we invest in America instead of invading other countries we will need more workers, and all can have a good living wage if we regulate the way corporations do business. Unregulated corporations lead to corporate fascism, which we now have.
