Thnx DPD for the notification of new thread action. I didn't miss Sally, I just bit my tongue, err fingernails so I didn't type anything offensive towards him.

2
DeLLBerto on April 28, 2006 at 05:22 PM

ah, here it is. Sally deserves no recognition, except as a continuing symptom of the demise of the GOP

3
kjfindlay on April 28, 2006 at 05:33 PM

Good to see Dean, and good to see the notification that he would be on.

I was a little disappointed that when pressed he didn't mention a) Debbie Stabenow's $500 rebate plan, five times greater than the Republican plan and b) Bob Menendez's gas tax holiday proposal. However, did do a good job outlining our agenda right there on national television, mentioning the website and the doorhangers.

KDJ on April 28, 2006 at 05:46 PM

This is true, Karen. Very true.

5
DeLLBerto on April 28, 2006 at 05:49 PM

Just time for a quickie;)

"Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be lied to. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery."

Will Democrats Do Another "Ostrich" Routine On Iran?

excerpt: My ongoing question is more about why the Congress has not made more of it. I find it hard to see (where) there is an authorization from them (Congress) to do this. (The) War Powers Act does not seem to be working because the Congress was not notified after 60 days. The 2001 terrorism legislation gives authority to go after those responsible for 9/11 but not axis of evil in general. So, who agreed to allow this to happen?

"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreeement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. Dawnie,

If he doesn't go to prison as a drug addict, it simply drags into the open what we have known along: your money talks, and you walk. So much for equal justice under the law, huh??

And yes I will post lots of pictures tomorrow night for you guys. And please share your pics too when you meet with Tony. Oh what a sweet man.

Statement from Flush's Lawyer

They are calling it a "Victory" (I guess Limpballs was afraid of doing HARD TIME. He ALSO has to pay a $30,000 fine).

I'm going over to Freeperville to watch all the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

TEE HEE

P.S. Flush used to have a separate blog on his site called something like "See how Rush fights the Liberal's False Charges", this announcement was on the Home page, but in teeny little letters.

How will his girlfriend Dana take this?

I've been praying.

I always thought Target was fairly Blue. I know that they donate 10% of their take to local Charities.

Chicago finally let Wal-Mart build ONE store in the City, (in a depressed high unemployment area),but they put all kinds of Pay, Benefits, labor rules on the approval. The City is lousy with Targets, though. Wal-Mart has taken to buying property on the borders of Chicago because just crossing the street will mean they have to play by the City's Fair Labor Rules.

I should have said this earlier

Dr. Dean you did a GREAT job today on Lardball and AL Franken's show. I caught them both thankfully.

You are the perfect spokesman for our party. Probably more than we deserve of late. Thanks for caring for our country! Thanks for leading our party. Thanks for being HONEST!

I should have spent more time considering your campaign for President in 04. I was already a Wes Clark supporter but now I think you would have made a fantastic President.

If it matters at all. I felt I needed to say it.

Merci, Dank, Gracias, Thanks!

Dawn, That thing Colbert is hosting is the White House Correspondents Dinner, where they basically rip the Party in charge.

Valerie Plame is an invited guest this year.

Colbert is a flaming Liberal whose schtick is to out-O'Reiley O'Reiley.

So...since when is Comedy Central a recognized news operation? (They are actually the ONLY place to get the real news, besides Olberman).

64
Dawnie on April 29, 2006 at 05:17 PM

on the other hand I'd never believe he was a flaming liberal or he'd NEVER have shook the hand of some of the creeps he's interviewed on his show. I am a flaming liberal and would sooner spit in their face. No matter how much they paid me.

ON THE OTHER THREAD.

Cyn, Cumberlin Farms is partially owned by Gulf Oil, and they have a clause in their franchise agreement that they can NOT be closed for a certain number of consecutive days, or they will be in violation of their franchise agreement. What has been happening around here is that the OIL COMPANIES are refusing to deliver gas in order to have the independents run out, so the stations can be taken over by the Majors.

There is one station that only opened 2 hours a day so their tanks wouldn't run dry.

This way the OIL COMPANIES can shut down the independent franchises, and have their own stations get all the business.

HECK OF A JOB, W.

On the Run From Hatred

In her youth, Tanja Privenau embraced the mystique of Germany's dark past. Now she seeks sanctuary and fears that neo-Nazis will find her.

DRESDEN, Germany — She wore a tattoo of a Viking wielding an ax, screamed epithets at Jews and dark-skinned foreigners, reveled in the sinister glamour of the bygone Third Reich and married her second husband on Hitler's birthday.

Her inspiration had a seductive voice. She remembers seeking comfort in the rousing tales of her grandfather, a World War II veteran who, like many of his time, was left to sort through pride, denial and anger in a nation ruined by the deeds of a man with an odd, twitching mustache.

"My grandfather was my idol," Privenau says. "He told me about life as a soldier. I had to write an essay in school once about the bad things the Reich did. Back then you didn't question that the Reich was bad. That was all they taught.

"My grandfather was personally attacked by what I wrote. We discussed it. He denied he knew about the murder of the Jews, but at the same time, he'd say, 'I don't know why those Jews didn't listen. They were told to leave and if they didn't it was their own bad luck.' "

Sounds like what the neo-Nazis here in this country say about the people of New Orleans. Evidently they were supposed to "anticipate the breach of the levees" even if no one else could.

Sally, you are a liar, you are evil, and a pest. I refuse to believe that you could possibly be a mensa member because anyone with any intelligence would have matured past being an obnoxious 14 year old...unless you are 14, if so it makes you a liar again.

What exactly is your purpose? Are you a neocon fan? If so why don't you enlighten us on how any of their policies have helped the country? If you want serious debate then go for it. This group will gladly debate any real issue that you present.

Being generally hateful to the people blogging here (and their relatives) simply shows that you wouldn't be worth pissing on if you were on fire.

BTW...I'm younger than you, smarter than you, better looking than you and I have ovaries which beats balls any day of the week when it comes to protecting my children. I am fighting for democracy for my children and future grandchildren, and if I succeed I will be protecting yours also.

How can you possibly desire a corporate/facist country for your child?

Oh...(sigh)...Dawn...even the dems are all about what ever they hear on TV. People don't know, they just really don't have a clue what's going on. I mean it's like as long as the TV keeps them intertained they are just going to ignore the war and are clueless that democracy no longer exists. Other than that it was a beautiful day, and I got a lot of exercise and met nice people, albeit clueless. I hope I encouraged people to vote dem. deb

Thanks for the e's Jen and Dawn. Like I said I had a lovely day.

I was really hoping that someone might have noticed the annual deficit, war lies, corruption, etc. A few people talked about the prescription drug fiasco and most everyone is wanting to know what the dem stance on illegal immigrants is. There is such a gap between what people on the net know and what the general public knows.

We MUST push the Congress to restore the Fairness Doctrine and actually make it stronger. This is priority #1 when we take the House and Senate next winter. I'm all for requiring that each party has their own correspondent of the white house and also to include Congress and that each MUST be given equal time.

Man, sometimes I feel sorry for Yimmy or whatever his stupid name is. Imagine going through your life thinking your doing 'good' only to be angry and bitter in your twilight years. If he could read, I would recommend he read an inoffensive little American classic called To Kill a Mockingbird. Of course he will say he read it, but he needs to really read it. I'd love to sit down and teach its themes to him. I think it would really help him to understand the stereotypes and hate mongering he is doing.

And deb, here is Dean's statement on Immigration today, posted here:

Dean: Comprehensive and Compassionate Immigration Reform NeededMarch 29, 2006

Next week, Republican Senate Leader Bill Frist is likely to introduce a harmful immigration bill on to the Senate floor that will criminalize good Samaritans, including church members and clergy, and does not provide a larger, comprehensive framework for reform or a path to citizenship. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on President Bush and the Republican Congress's failure to lead on the issue of immigration:

"President Bush and his Republican Congress's failure to offer comprehensive solutions on immigration reform and their attempt to use the issue to divide Americans is contrary to our values as a people and does a disservice to all who live and work in this great nation. The hostile anti-immigrant bill passed by the Republican House and now being considered by the Republican Senate is not the answer. America needs comprehensive immigration reform that protects our borders, keeps our communities safe, and brings America together.

"Criminalizing families and the work of clergy is not the way forward. A comprehensive and compassionate approach must protect all U.S. workers and their wages, prevent exploitation of immigrant workers, and offer immigrants who have earned it the opportunities and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship. The American people want change, not more of the same scape-goating and ineffective, piecemeal immigration reform Republicans are proposing."

Jefro and I were canvassing today in what's considered a 'bad' neighborhood by people who never get out of their cars. We had the best time. The people we met were incredibly nice, mainly elderly folks but a few younger folks too, more blacks than whites, (in case you are interested in the demographics) many retired, one muni bond trader, but more often blue collar. We were enjoying the mock tudor architecture and the flowers in the carefully tended yards, a couple of whom had the most gorgeous spread of lilies of the valley. I smelled them before I saw them, they were heavenly (my fave). The weather was lovely, and though I got blisters on my feet from walking I would do it again tomorrow. (I had been really nervous beforehand and nearly chickened out but I'm so glad I didn't.) We even got a recommendation of a good tree service from a gentleman who had a 120 year old oak tree in his yard. This sweet older man went through about 50 business cards looking for the name, bless his heart. Anyway, BlueinRedCincy canvassed too but unfortunately we missed each other in the morning. We were planning to go to the cookout and meet her after but we managed to pick up a key in our tire so we had skip the bbq to get to the shop before they closed at 3. The only bummer. :( But we will meet sometime soon.

DAWN, demand a provisional ballot if you don't get your stuff in time.

US War Costs "Could Hit $811Bn"

Of course the article implies that this war is go on on forever.

Just think of what we really could be doing with the money...investing in alternative forms of energy, bringing living wage jobs to Americans and, yes, even illegal immigrants...helping Mexico become an industrialized country so that people won't want to risk their lives coming across the Rio Grande. It is all doable and every one including corporations can win.

So Yimmy, what do you stand for? I guess you don't care about people since unknown people screwing 14 year olds is all right. I can respect the fact that you don't care about people...you must not call yourself a member of the moral majority then.

You've made that same social Darwinist comment before. I know you don't know what that means so I will explain it to you: basically you believe that some people's lives are worth more than others...at this point I agree with you too. Your life is definitely worth less than mine for instance, because I care about the common good of humanity, whereas you care about...uhm, you care about ... hey what do you stand for?

I imagine you will probably skirt the question of respect since you have none anyway.

Yep, especially when you consider this.

A Ten Year Sentence for Marcus Dwayne Dixon

Recently, the Georgia Supreme Court heard arguments in Dixon v. State. The case involves the conviction of Marcus Dwayne Dixon for statutory rape and aggravated child molestation. (Dixon was acquitted of rape and several other charges.)

Statutory rape is sex between an adult and a minor, while aggravated child molestation also involves an injury. At the time of his offense, Dixon was an 18-year-old high school football player who had sex with a 15-year-old female classmate. The aggravated child molestation statute mandates a ten-year minimum sentence, and Dixon challenges the harshness of the resulting penalty.

The case has attracted claims of racism, because the victim was a white girl and the convict an outstanding African-American student with a football scholarship to Vanderbilt.

Here's how well your moron leader is doing on the "war on terra", yimmyyammy.

U.S. Reports a Surge in Global Terrorism

The count has soared since the Iraq invasion, but only now are attacks there being included.

WASHINGTON — The State Department's annual report on global terrorism, released Friday, concludes that the number of reported terrorist incidents and deaths has increased exponentially in the three years since the United States invaded Iraq, largely because of Iraq itself.

The report said there were 11,111 attacks that caused 14,602 deaths in 2005. Those figures stand in contrast to prior State Department reports, which cited 208 terrorist attacks that caused 625 deaths in 2003; and 3,168 attacks that caused 1,907 deaths in 2004.

Critics, led by Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Los Angeles), said the Bush administration was trying to manipulate the statistics used in the report to suggest that it was winning the war on terrorism when it was actually losing it.

Administration officials denied that, but acknowledged that previous reports had missed huge swaths of terrorist incidents.

On Friday, Waxman said that the report still needed work, and that it showed the war in Iraq had caused terrorism to increase.

"For the third year in a row, the Bush administration is playing games with the numbers to hide the truth: Global terrorism has skyrocketed since the invasion of Iraq," Waxman said in a statement.

Hi, everyone. Hope those that canvassed had a fun day.

Here's some interesting remarks by the chief trade negotiator from Quatar regarding Bush administration fast- track status:

"The talks were not proceeding in the right direction. They were going nowhere. It was like two deaf people talking to each other. There was no sense in continuing with the dialogue," Al Khalifa said.

..."Let's take time and review things," said Al Khalifa. "Sometimes powerful countries put preconditions that are not in the interest of smaller countries."

The ambassador said there were concerns that accepting preconditions now could lead to the imposition of even greater demands later.

"It becomes a vicious circle," he said.

Questioning the need for a free trade agreement in the first place, Al Khalifa said
World Trade Organization agreements were sufficient for mutual trade and investment between any two member countries....

Countries that are signing free trade deals with the U.S. are either getting financial support from Washington or want preferential treatment for their products in the U.S. markets, he said.

Qatar's primary export is liquefied natural gas, for which there is a hungry worldwide market.

Qatar...is home to the U.S. Central Command's forward operations in the Middle East, which played a central role in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Makes you wonder what all these fast-track trade agreements are really about. Sounds almost like blackmail for smaller nations with major economic and security problems.

Thanks DKA, it was great. And just wait until Monday. The country is going to come to a stand still. There is going to be a human chain of people connecting the 5 boroughs of Manhattan on Monday.

Awesome march Lizzy.

Soft-money political groups making changes

Isn't the unmitigated gall of the pugs amazing? I mean they are cheating to fill their coffers every which way but go, and they introduced a bill to change the status of how grassroot organizations donate.

for pamb,

"Some of the party brass said, 'Ned, don't jeopardize a safe seat,' " Lamont recently told students at Southern Connecticut State University, who gathered for a meet-and-greet session. "But you're not going to lose a senator. You're going to gain a Democrat."

I was a little disappointed that when pressed he didn't mention a) Debbie Stabenow's $500 rebate plan......

Posted by KDJ on April 28, 2006 at 05:46 PM

I'm not a fan of either the $500 or the $100 rebate plan because they do nothing to help the problem. Them paying me to screw me just makes me a whore, am I right?

First, I would like to see the credits given the oil companies taken back. Am I the only one who was shocked when I heard how much tax credits these companies get and how no one has mentioned it before?

Second I would like to see the solar credit increased for residental. The credit is 30% but is maxed at $2,000. To wire my house will take more and with the cap, my credit would be more like 10% or less. Lets make the credit big enough that most reasonable people couldnt resist.

And for the longer term, I think there are several great alternatives to oil that we can use to lessen our addiction if we just quit looking for the silver bullet. And speaking of silver bullets, will Bush please just shut up about the hydrogen car. Its nowhere near ready for the real world. GM has been pushing these as their reason for not developing hybrids saying hybrids are just a temporary thing. Well guess what, Toyota and Honda came in and kicked GM butts by having Hybrids. I think we need to use several technologies including solar, wind, biodiesel, ethanol and liquid coal (forget what they call it. The main problem is not all these technologies are interchangable, at least on cars. What about converting power plants instead. It wouldnt solve the problem but it might help.

Jen....I'm so relaxed that this chair and I have melded. I'm totally a bath freak, with baskets of stuff to scrub with and delicious scents.

Texas, I plug plug-in hybrids every chance that I get. It is estimated that the average driver would get 200 mpg. Also, I'd love to see solar panels on every roof feeding the grid. There would be no need for more power plants if that happened.

xdebx. go for it.

I think we need the power plants but mainly for their distribution capabilities. They become giant batteries for the power. we feed the system from the houses and can draw out the power out anywhere. (just a thought, probably a little crazy)

Do you know what the average cost of a residential system would be? I dont want to eliminatte my electric bill from day one, just a starter system I could add too later.

I'm studying up on it and would like to make an investment this year.

Republican corruption is sinking to a new low while Americans are paying the price big time with record high prices at the pump. Some were able to do something about it but made a choice not to.
