The calm before the storm ... the storm being the tidal wave of Democrats rushing into neighborhoods across the country all day tomorrow, sharing conversation with neighbors about the strong but smart Democratic message. Send your pictures and stories to april29@dnc.org.
In other news, you're going to be seeing a lot less of my fancy little font around the DNC blog. In fact, come next Friday, my presence will be akin to a 0 pt. Arial font. In other words, that's my last day with the organization. I'll be leaving to take a job with a campaign yet to be determined, but surely for a candidate I (and hopefully you) can believe in -- you're all invited. Pam B., I might end up in your neck of the woods, and if I do, I owe you dinner for all the trolls I have failed to zap promptly.
You'll meet the first of the new and improved captain(s) of the DNC Blog, Tracy, this coming Monday.

Rush Limbaugh just got busted for fraud in Florida and has turned himself in.
Rush Arrested
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 — Rush Limbaugh reached a settlement with prosecutors Friday in a fraud case involving prescription painkillers, though the conservative radio commentator maintains his innocence.
Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities about 4 p.m. on a warrant for fraud to conceal information to obtain a prescription, the first charge in the nearly 3-year-old case, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the state attorney. He was released an hour later on $3,000 bail.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Friday rejected calls to tax oil companies' record profits, but said he expects those companies to re-invest those profits in alternative fuels and new energy technologies.

Yeah, just like the top 1% created jobs for people with their oversized tax cuts. Didn't happen then, ain't happening now. Why do the republicans think the middle class should depend on the charity of big business? That's not the American way.
Happy blog story...

guys, be ready to work...be ready to work very hard. I was very depressed last night...but now, finally the tide could be turning. Let's be humble and be firm. Man, if pakistan is upset with bush, Limbaugh going down, republican sex scandal which makes Clinton look like a choir boy...we could do okay...but we have to work hard. Donate, volunteer, plead, beg your neighbor to listen to your take on things... I just might have hope for my four year old daughter's future now.
Tim I hope it is for John Edward, if so call me.
Unfortunetly, the only thing it looks like happening to Limbaugh, is 18 months of continuing with his Drug Treatment???? What the hell kind of punishment is that for dealing in drugs?
I wanted to see the slob frog-marched out in leg chains !

Washington - Ten states fired a new legal salvo at the federal government Thursday in a long-running court battle over global warming and pollution from power plants.
The states, joined by environmental groups, sued the Environmental Protection Agency over its decision not to regulate carbon dioxide pollution as a contributor to global warming.
New York, California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin filed the lawsuit in the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

How did doorhangers go out to people who signed up to host? They were distributed through the state party here causing some confusion. Were walk lists distributed from the DNC?

Rove’s Legal Troubles More Extensive Than Previously Reported
Rove testified to the grand jury that when he told Cooper that Plame worked at the agency, he was only passing along unverified gossip, according to people familiar with his testimony.
In contrast, Cooper has testified that Rove told him in a phone conversation on July 11, 2003, that Plame worked for the CIA and played a role in having the agency select her husband, former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, to make a fact-finding trip to Niger in 2002.
Cooper has also testified that Rove, as well as a second source — I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, then-chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney — portrayed the information about Plame as accurate and authoritative.

Limbaugh arrested on drug charges
Conservative talk-show host has been released on bail
April 28: Rush Limbaugh was arrested on prescription drug charges for painkillers. The conservative talk show host turned himself into authorities.

<a href="
I like Olberman's opening line..."Comedian Rush Limbaugh arrested on drug charges..."
so rush has been the man cheney and rummy turned to to get their plea's for mercy out to the ditto heads.
maybe he will be able to negotiate with the war crimes tribunal in their behalf.
This put a smile on my face, even with $3.00 gas prices at the pump, world condemnation, criminal investigations, and all the other stuff being passed off as good governance these days.

Don't let this one sneak by, peeps.
When this kind of tax relaxation or termination goes through, WHO do you think has to pick up that $71 billion ? Why the Middle Class, the elderly, the poor, the children, the disabled, Veterans, of course, in cut benefits, services, etc.
"Eighteen of America's wealthiest families, including the Timkens of Canton, are bankrolling efforts to permanently repeal estate taxes that would save their families a total of $71.6 billion, according to a report released Tuesday by public interest groups.
Groups funded by the super-rich have engaged in a deceptive campaign to convince the public that estate taxes cause widespread problems for small businesses and family farms when they actually affect about one in 370 estates, said the report released by Public Citizen and Boston-based United for a Fair Economy.

My question is when is there going to be a movie based on Rush's life? I can't wait for the Hallmark version of Tom DeLay's either. Incidentally never buy Hallmark cards...major contributor to republicans. Check out buyblue.org. Love you all; I'll be back after my margarita party that my condo association is having. No telling what my posts will be like after that.
Don't let them sneak this lie by you, either !
04/28/06 -- WASHINGTON, April 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. war on terrorism has made the world safer, the State Department's counterterrorism chief said on Friday, despite more than 11,000 terrorist attacks worldwide last year that killed 14,600 people
But the new 2005 figures, which showed attacks in Iraq jumped and accounted for about a third of the world's total, may fuel criticism of the Bush administration's assertion that it is winning the fight against terrorism.
http://informationclearinghouse.info/article12871.htm
Chris,
You don't honestly think anyone would go to a movie about Limbaugh, the big jerk, do you?
All he is is a big bag of wind. Tries to come off sounding so knowledgeable, so righteous, yet the worst thing that ever happened to him, was the Clintons leaving office! that is what catapulted him to fame. The Clinton haters just ate up his facetious digs at them every day.
I betcha he voted for Clinton the 2nd time around, because he knew which side his bread was buttered on.
Heading out. Wish I could stay around for my ice cream allottment, but please save it for me, gregg! I was good. :))
be well Dems.

You forget to mention the fact that he pleaded not guilty which was apparently accepted by the prosector and all charges will be dropped in 18 months. Do you think that would happen if there was any proof he was guilty of "dealing drugs". Give it up already you make dems sound like idiots. Its an obvious win for him and should just be ignored.
PamB, love you and can't argue with you; I just wouldn't put it past the hallmarks of the world to try to vindicate the neocons.
pam- just catching up on the thread here- had to comment on druggie- man, can you believe that, so he gets to go to rehab and pretend like he is contrite (not unlike a certain draft dodger we all know who had his little epiphany with billy graham) and then continue to belittle and otherwise spout his bs about the "filthy drug addicts" on welfare? i'm not surprised, but it is pathetic nonetheless
Good evening all. It seems ol' Rush can't get the monkey off his back. Tsk, tsk.
I'm looking forward to attending tomorrow's event! Jen, will you still be going?
RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A DRUGGIE.
FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND DRUG ADDICTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TERRORISTS.
RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A TERRORIST.
pam- i saw that the other day- they have been hard at work on this for years- trying to convince the ignorant that their inheritance might be endangered by the estate tax- it really is something how much money these people have spent- imagine what good could be done with all that money instead of pooring it into the coffers of hypocrites who are living a lavish lifestyle in our government all the while doing less than nothing about actually running said government in any way other than destroying it in the manner that their benefactors have requested
hey! watching cnn larry king and they just showed the ucc commercial that the other networks rejected.
Hey, pewbie...does PLEA BARGAIN ring a bell?
That fat assed moron, who ducked out of a debate with a couple of HIGH SCHOOL KIDS couldn't talk his way out of a "personal" examination of his world famous anal cyst.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
The PUSSY took a fall. He has to piss in a bottle for the next 18 months, and probably VIOLATED HIS CONTRACT WITH HIS RADIO NETWORK!!!!
His ear replacement happened just a few months AFTER he signed that big fat contract, so this plea bargain is an admission that he KNEW that his drug addiction was the cause of his hearing loss.
This downfall of the PUBES is just beginning.
Blueincincy, Hi! Just catching up! Still going!!!
they ought to send druggie to rehab with bill bennett- has he gotten over that gambling addiction- maybe they could help each other with their moral failings
I'd like to know what rush's market share is now compared to what it was when saint Clinton was in office. That'll make any 'conservative' hypocritical talk show host want to pop pills. Wish I had his problems.
actually, the prosecutor got all his doctor records and couldn't make a case. Ergo, Rush won, shut up already. It will be all over his show Monday about how he really pissed of the raging left wingers. Thanks very much.
RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A TERRORIST.
Good evening, everyone.
And good luck, Tim. You obviously have a real talent for campaign work. Come back and tell us what you've learned after this election.
Now that they have booked and fingerprinted Rush, the authoriities can track his movements better. I bet he has his fingerprints all over a lot of Republican crimes of passion.
And if he thinks it's going to be easy staying off Oxicontin, he better think again. That stuff is poison...worse thean herion. Fall off the wagon his once and you're hooked again.
Life is never going to be easy again for this hateful little man. He has far too much money and and so little self-esteem. That's a toxic combination for a junkie.
Hi Jen,
COLUMBUS - A unanimous Ohio Elections Commission voted to issue U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt a public reprimand Thursday for "false statements" - claiming she had a second undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati that she never received.
What is with republicans and lies???
If Rush won, he would be getting off without a sentence. Period.
Good evening, Democrats! yahhhhahhahah! Rushie junkie in treatment. lmfao. Think he can keep it together for 18 months? we'll see. I've court ordered lots of UA's in my time, and I'm just gleeful thinking of Rush having to pee in a cup in front of some techie. I'm sure that's all the Democrats fault. hahhahahahahah - I needed that one this week.
yep Lizzy, I know. Wish I knew.
Jen, thanks for that UCC commercial. That's wonderful.
there is nothing pretty about druggie limbaugh- his constant attempts to demonize those who have the same jones as he does lies at the core of his sickness- sadly, it is a sickness that he shares with millions of other hypocritical americans who need to spend more time in front of their mirrors in the morning and less time listening to the rushes, o'liely's and savages of the world
Jefro - something about people in glass houses? ;)
How might Bush mangle that one? hmm "huh huh, you see, people who live in glass houses, well, huh huh, (shrug, shrug), well glass is weak, you see, huh huh, and you can knock it down just as easy yourself, huh huh"
I think it's hilarious, Jen, and the fact that Fox has to cover it just tickles me to no end. Now all we need is for another phone loofa-ing from O'Lielie and I may actually have to take time off of Air America to listen to the glorious spin that 80% of America no longer believes.
Oh, you were talking about the UCC commercial - yes, that was EXCELLENT. I wish it would go out there. I think people are, properly, lumping together all producers of the hatred and fear that we have endured these horrid 5.5 years, which definitely includes the fanatical religious zealots, and that UCC commercial really nails it well!
What is with republicans and lies???

And the hypocrisy!! Party of moral values my *SS!!
Lawmaker Chided for Going to Frat Party
WASHINGTON - Republican Rep. John Sweeney (news, bio, voting record)'s attendance at a beer-drinking, college fraternity party has drawn criticism from Democrats who accused the New York lawmaker of using poor judgment.
"What is a 50-year-old congressman doing at a frat party at 1 in the morning cavorting with students 30 years his junior? Teaching them how a bill becomes a law?" Blake Zeff, a spokesman for New York Democrats, said Friday.
this is not what happens when you beat the case newbie. when you beat the case all charges are dropped. he wasn't found not guilty. he says he is not guilty....not an uncomman claim of folks who have been charged with a crime.and if you think we from the left wing will let this drop you need a reality check. big time to quote a famous asshole who recently was on the dope fiends show.
reuters:
He was booked on Friday on a single count of concealing information to fraudulently obtain a prescription drug after turning up with his lawyer, Roy Black, at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
He was released after less than an hour on $3,000 bail, Black told Reuters.
He said Limbaugh filed a written plea of not guilty, and would persist in denying that he committed the crime of so-called "doctor shopping."
The Ads Are Working against Republicans. The results from the first round of TV ads for the big plan to win the election are in. In each district the Republican was ahead before the ads went on TV, and after the ads ran they're losing. The tools are there to win and a victory in November is within reach. To keep the pressure on we want to expand the TV ad series. So, we.re escalating our program with an even bigger round of ads, focusing on the money these Congresspeople have taken from pharmaceutical companies. Can you help us keep the pressure on?

So according to This Time Line Flush may be guilty of Contract Fraud, and lose his Gazillion Dollar Hate Pulpit.
HAHAHA
Let the CIVIL suits begin!
There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods, which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.
What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.
...We are becoming too tolerant as a society, folks, especially of crime, in too many parts of the country.... This country certainly appears to be tolerant, forgive and forget. I mean, you know as well as I do, you go out and commit the worst murder in the world and you just say you're sorry, people go, "Oh, OK. A little contrition."... People say, "I feel better. He said he's sorry for it." We're becoming too tolerant, folks.
--Rush Limbaugh TV show (10/5/95)
STATES RIGHTS! I find this ironic. The GOP says they are the supporters of states' rights. Well, they have given the finger to the states pretty much the same as to the middle-class citizen. States are indeed responding with power, and a little "i love you, too" of their own:
10 States Sue EPA Over Global Warming
WASHINGTON - Ten states fired a new legal salvo at the federal government Thursday in a long-running court battle over global warming and pollution from power plants.
The states, joined by environmental groups, sued the
Environmental Protection Agency over its decision not to regulate carbon dioxide pollution as a contributor to global warming.
New York, California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin filed the lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
When you strip it all away, Jerry Garcia destroyed his life on drugs. And yet he's being honored, like some godlike figure. Our priorities are out of whack, folks.
--Rush Limbaugh radio show (quoted in the L.A. Times, 8/20/95)
All right Newbie take advice from Rush, quit defending him, you're being too tolerant, get your priorities straight.
Dell, I think you just lost your cone.
*aiming my dart and throwing*
much more important things to spend tax dollars on.
dell is a cone head? he seemed a bit french.
OH crap. I did, didn't I? Ok, I'll show some self control now.
heh heh, DeLLBerto - excellent quotes. Are we supposed to feel sorry for him because of his deafness? Perhaps if he were human... no, wait, I'd even feel bad for my hamster if it started losing its hearing... perhaps if he were mammalian... nope, pretty sure I'd feel bad for a lizard, too. Perhaps if Rush demonstrated any connection to the living world of bloom, growth, and fulfillment instead of evil pond-scum-like behavior... nope, just can't muster the concern to care at all, 'cause really he's the pond-scum on the bottom of a wide, flat rock in the middle of Lake Huron which is shallow enough for the scum to fester and spread and destroy - unless we scrape it up.
LOL, gregg. Yes, we are from france.
Greg, I'll take Dell's ice cream. :)
Hey Kristen, DeLL, Karen, Marsh, Lizzy, Jen and DPD. All the familiar faces (names).
Let's open up the bar.
I am celebrating Ellen's win for best talk show host. Got the Daytime Emmy's on in the background. Gotta get a good look at all the soap hunks in their tuxes.
Tony, they aren't on yet here...do you mind not ruining them for me ;)
Kristen, I am so sorry. How can I make it up to you?????
my priorities are fine. Just like it was no bodies business what Bill did when Hillary wasn't looking, who cares how many pills Rush pops? I want my tax dollars spent on IMPORTANT THINGS. I'm sick of this nitpicking wastefulness. I want a party that is focused on what is best for Americans, not on what is going on in peoples bedrooms and bathrooms. I guess it just doesn't exist!
much more important things to spend tax dollars on.

Au Contrere, Mon Frere!
Rush also has to pat $30,000 NOW in order to defray HIS abuse of the system.
How was that 70 MILLION bucks spent on Whitewater justified?
They had to keep expanding it until they nailed someone for getting a BJ from somebody other than his wife.
The Pubes even had an investigation into who was on the Clinton's Christmas Card list.
Get over it, and just slit your wrists now.
The Pube house of cards which was glued together with bull crap is melting under the heavy rain of HUBRIS.
Well, Kristen! Have you read who is the opening act performing?
Tonito!!! YESSSS, I was hoping someone would open up the bar! PLEASE may I have an Amaretto sour?
Rush is wrong about many things. Personally I don't feel sorry for him because of his deafness, but I do kinda feel bad for him that he's a hypocrite and a druggie.
tonito, the bar has been washed down and polished for you,
dnc pub
You got it Karen!
Hey gallina, wanna play bouncer?
Rush, Rush, Rush, Rove, Rove Rove, Rush, Rove....

I fell into a nice, good dentist from Britain so my dental work is complete, gregg.
Well Tony, you can make me one of those fancy umbrella drinks and even if you don't you know I luv ya and would never need you to make it up to me. :)
gregg, i love that pic of that pub! it gives us a sense of place and I can see all your lovely faces politely asking for your favorite beverages. Good old dayz!
Tony truthfully I am so tired tonight I don't think I'll stay up to see one second of it so spoil away. :) I absolutely love Ellen, especially since she was pulling for our Seahawks in the Super bowl.
Kristen, are you going to watch?
Very entertaining so far, wink wink!!
Yours is the one with the purple umbrella! And an extra shot of rum down the straw, so be careful.
In honor of stanke complaining that we aren't all singing her ONE NOTE SYMPHONY...
I'll have a MARGARITA!! HOLA!
i'll bounce for you tonito but if i actually have to play the stong man you gonna be reminded of the lion in the wizard of oz....
Well Kristen, you must at least watch the opening. Rick Springfield does a melody of his 4 hits from back in the day and he still rocks....
awwww, John Kerry's first wife just died :(
Julia Thorne, RIP
tonito---these are the good old days...
I just wanted to let everyone know that I don't work for moveon.org, I only posted that info because I've been seeing TV ads with my eyes during Wheel of Fortune against Republicans and I think they are doing a good job trying to help Democrats that's why I wanted to share the info with everyone because they are doing a good job and all Democrats must stick together if we are going to have a victory this November when voters go to the polls.
Stinky, you fecal throwing monkey, a plea bargain isn't skating.
Sorry guys, I'll quit typing to the trolls now.
gregg, as long as you can say "puttem up, puttem up" and fake growl you will be fine.
I love Rick Springfield!
oops I meant when I was wee child I loved him...I'm not nearly old enough to still have a crush on him.

Thx kj, I'm sorry to hear about Kerry's girls' mom. Very sad.
Tonito:
Merlot, please...anything from California will be fine.
DemocratKickingAss...no one would hold it against you if you worked for Moveon.org or not.
currently on Cspan2 Gov Mitt Rmney R-Mass is talking about his insurance for everyone plan. I had heard about it earlier and thought maybe it was a good idea, but the way he presents it is that "there will be no more free rides, everyone will HAVE to have insurance and all but the VERY poor will HAVE to pay"...
any comments? anyone been following this?

Most states say you have to have car insurance, too. But many can't afford it and drive without it. Just saying people must do something, doesn't mean they have the means to do it.
It's the same typical Republican "law and order" rhetoric. Let's just hope that this bill makes medical insurance more affordable. With risk shared by a large pool of well and sick, rates should hopefully go down for all. (I wouldn't be surprised if the insurance industry is going along with this so they can sabotage the whole universal health care idea.)
I don't trust any system that allows the insurers to control the process. Just look at all those on the Gulf coast who had their home owners insurance cancelled this week... just before the hurricane season starts.
ROSE!!! HI!!! HOW YA DOIN', my favorite librarian!!
hi dka, Rose, dell, everyone!
me big fan of moveon. make mucho calls for them.
FOUR "Hits"?
Lesseeeee, Jesse's Girl (sucked)
Um....I'm done, although I saw his album with that cool picture of a dog in a shirt and tie:
Working Class Dog
When I was in Vegas a few years ago he was on a marquee for some lounge show at the "Place where I lost a Hunnert". (Or something like that).
Sandy, when I first heard about the Mass. plan I was really surprised as well, it seems that they are going to further punish people for being unable to provide health insurance for their families and it didn't seem that companies would be held responsible for making sure they were part of the solution.
Rose, long time no chatty! Welcome.
as I raise my head to broadcast my objection
as your latest triumph draws the final straw
who died and lifted you up to perfection?

Where's dawn tonight? Somebody rouse her!
Hi KJ, Jen, Tony and all!
Things going well here -- slowing down anyway. College geek is coming home for the summer on Weds. I think he'll probably start to drive me crazy before Sept hits, LOL!
Hey, BTW, hub and I went to see United #93 tonight. It was excellent. Sad, but very well done.
Rose, wasn't it this time last year you were feeling teary about him heading off to college? :)
Evening. Can't stay :(
Just got home and heard about Rush - I don't know the details
Hi {{{Rose}}} - You liked the movie? I don't think I can see it
Gov. Rod signed into law his "ALL KIDS" insurance plan. It just kicked in. ALL children are covered by Medicare / Medicaid until their 18th birthday.
ALL KIDS COVERED
Sounds like what Hillary proposed 20 years ago. It just takes guts and brains.
Cin - summary - he turned himself in and got 18 months drug treatment and a fine. If he doesn't comply, he goes to jail. Looks like there's finally some accountability for these right-wing hypocritical bad-boys.
You betcha, Kristen. But he has grown so much. He's a completely different person! I'm so proud of him. He founded a Young Dems club at his school. They just gave him the okay today.
But it's funny how quickly you get used to having one less person in the house. When he comes home, it starts to feel crowded!
Yeah for Illinois!! Go KIDS!!
Hey Cin. Yes, a lot of people were sobbing loudly at the end. I was able to hold it together.
Good evening everybody!! Just dropping by for a little bit.
{{Rose}} my daughter is coming home for the summer next Sunday... We've survived the first year of college, can you believe it? :)
Tonito, could I have a good German Lager please?
if you are in the northeast and look at jupiter in the south east sky now with binoculars or a telescope you can see some of its moons!
Cin, it's getting great reviews...I just can't watch it. I get upset just watching the preview, there is no way I could sit through the movie. Especially since each month I put my son on an airplane and hold my breath until he lands.
Kristen, you still here?
The cast of Grey's Anatomy is going to present the award for best soap.
I bet dawnie is watching the emmy's. She's a big fan of General Hospital.
GiG, indeed! It went by so fast, too! I wonder where we're going to put all of his stuff when he comes home?
Andrea, you got it!
Do you like a little or a lot of head???? wink wink, Just kidding'
trying to earn my tip you know!! LOL
Tony, you have to tell me who takes that award. That is still my one sick day weakness...ABC soaps. I watched them as a kid with my mom and still love to catch them when I can.
which "tip" are you referring to, you dirty man ;)
I could use another Amaretto Sour, please, garcon.
Suze Orman just beat Martha Stewart (and she looked bitter) for best service show host. It was pretty funny.
You got it Kristen.
LOL Rose, I know :) Plus I'm wondering how I'm going to get all her stuff home in the first place, she's added a bunch and my little Protege was bursting at the seams taking her down there :)
Tonito, I'm sure you know how to serve a German beer properly ;)
Kristen, they had Robert and Holly Scorpio reunite to give the synopsis of the General Hospital for best soap drama. They looked fabulous! And they announced that they are coming back to the show..
tonito, I haven't talked about GH in ages. Is Frisco (the long haired 19 year old Detective with the pierced ears) still with Anna (the 19 year old Police Commissioner from England)?
And what about Duke Lavery? I think he's sleazy.
HAHAHA That was from my bartending days, I'd read the TV Guide "What's Happening on your Favorite Soaps?" column just so I could shoot the breeze with the waitresses.
(spoiler alert)
Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) wins best actor.
They have both been back on the show already (for the last few months) they must be staying for awhile.
you guys crack me up! give me a bellini please Tony.
Jefro is sitting on the couch nodding off. His head keeps bobbing back and forth. Me and mom are cracking up silently watching him.
Hey, Jen, "what'll it be?" Tonito's behind the bar - you're the dj - I just nominated you!
DPD, Anna and Frisco are both gone...but to ruin it for you Frisco ended up with Felicia and they are now divorced and she is letting her second (or third) ex husband raise her daughters.
I hope we don't get yelled at on Sunday for wasting so much precious space on the weekend thread. ;)
So just HOW did Luke and Laura have that fairy tale "Wedding of the Century"?
They "met" when he was a bad guy drug dealer and raped her in front of her boyfriend on the dance floor of the Disco he owned after drugging both of them.???
HUH???
{{JEN}} Just put on some Stevie Wonder, and put him on You Tube!
HAHA
Kristen,
I think we are safe tonight...the Canvassing is tomorrow. There will be threads.
Got Neil Young's album playing - linked from Michael Moore's website. Having weird flashbacks to my former life listening to him :D
but, wow, powerful words.
GH won, Kristen.
I was hooked on it in college when the whole Luke and Laura rape and then wedding and the Ice princess stories were all the rage.... LOL
Hey GiG, Cin and any other recent entries I missed while I was actually doing some work at work, lol. Could I get that JaegerBomb now Tony?
lol dpd. he woke up.
I have to recommend you listen to this: Neil
ok, Tony...I'm getting ready to watch the opening of the Emmy's...oh my! It's Cameron Mathison (sp) on the red carpet!
Enough of this Soap Opera crapola. Lets talk Rosie O'Donnel going on that coffee klatch that Babs Wawa holds. I hope That Pug Lovin' bitch gets her teeth knocked out within the first 5 shows.
JMHO.
With the Ohio primary fast approaching, I was trying to think of something we could do to help our favorite local candidate, Subodh Chandra. Other than blogging, of course, which I've done rather a lot of.
My husband made "Flat Howard" available online in late 2003/early 2004. People could print it out in pieces and assemble it themselves, or we could send them the large file in one piece, and they could take it to a printer.
"Flat Howard" showed up at tabling events, fundraisers--anywhere Howard couldn't be there personally. Just do a Google search for "Flat Howard" and you can get a sense of how the 2D Dean got around.
When we met Paul Hackett at the Honesty in Government event back in January, someone from his campaign (forget who) thought it was a cool idea. Paul posed for a picture that was to be used to make a "Flat Hackett", but he dropped out of the race before that could happen.
Well, anyway, I ran the idea of a "Flat Subodh" past the folks at Buckeye State Blog, and met with a positive response.
So, voila, here he is!
Oh yeah, Kristen, there are plenty of hotties tonight!
DeLL, I put it on the bar. Gregg must have drank it.
He needed some bouncer courage, I guess!
Jen, your bellini is chillin.
DPD, what will be interesting will be to see how Star Jones does with having two people sitting on either side that can't stand her.
DPD - tell us how you really feel about Rosie, lol!! Haven't really kept up with her since League of Their Own, so I'm a bit behind on my Rosie knowledge.
Rose, it was good catching up with you a little, it's been one crazy year, that's for sure.
Thanks for the beer Tonito
Sweet dreams everybody, enjoy the evening, and Gregg, I'm counting on you keeping the trolls out of this lovely place :)
gregg.. would you do such a thing?
dpd, who's the pug loving bitch on the view? baba wawa, surely it is not Rosie!
Gregg musta fallen asleep on the couch again - lol - probably that drink.
Karen, he is talking about the Hasselbeck chick that is the Bush lovin' pug.
Gay Talese is currently on Tavis Smiley on PBS..
as usual being accused of aberrant behavior.
well i was outside siting in the dark throwing the stick for the pooch who is really just warming up in terms of energy level at 11pm....and checking out jupiter's moons. i could see pretty clearly with my binoculars and one was much clearer and larger and it put a whole different sense of the reality of other planets hanging out there all around us...pretty cool.
tonito, dell seems to be selling beers out of his trunk to the kids in the parking lot....
george clooney is on bill maher and he went to darfur. savedarfur.org
i am so totally jupigeekyfied...
tony, don't believe him... i wasn't selling them, I was giving them. I enjoy spreading happiness to all.
as long as they are progressive kids, I don't give a rat's ass.
tee hee
Jupiter is awesome. I can't wait for Kirk to get home so we can go try and see it.
Greg, Jupiter was mooning you? That doesn't sound very friendly ;)
Oh, drat, our telescope is in our crawlspace.
Oh crap I might of messed up; the pudgy kid whining about his ass hurting, called himself rusty, threatening me with touching me with some sorta cyst, so I gave him one. Plus he had a prescription for it.
*patting Dell's hand* It's Ok, it is your first offense.
Greg, did Dell have the Gremlin?
George Clooney had a video that CNN was showing about Darfur. Pretty cool.
The Pug lovin' bitch is the one who replaced that Linda Liu or Lacy Ling or Lotsa Luck or whoever she was whose name sounds just the actress who isn't her. And SHE replaced that blond bimbette with the 14 letters in her Greek name.
Anyway, this Ann Coldsore wanna be just says outright lies and nobody calls her on it, and that unfunny comedienne is too busy working on her next line to even pay attention.
Rosie (ugh) will probably deck this waste of peroxide. (YAY)
As for Starr Jones , I don't watch the "View" but she subbed for Larry King (ugh) last week, and i guess she lost a few ounces?
Did they do a whole season about that ala Oprah (UGH UGH TRIPLE UGH)?
Good evening all, signed on late so need to catch up a little. Earlier posts re drugs and Rush L. etc. Caught a news piece on msn concerning a law that's been passed by Mexico's congress. Fox indicates he'll sign it. Makes small amounts of drugs legal to possess for personal use. No sales allowed. Dealers still targets of the Federalies. US will go balistic on this one, I bet.
i love George. he's my homeboy.
lol, DPD, thanks for filling me in!
yay barney frank is on! ian mckellen, michele martin. awesome.
back - thanks Karen - I was hoping for jail time for Rush - oh well, at least he's embarrassed
Rose, yeah, I would be sobbing - I can't watch either Karen
can't stay - have a drink for me guys - gotta run - I'll try to be back
bye Cin
i wish rush was embarrassed. i doubt it.
Aaron - another "renegade" nation, I bet, is how this issue will come out.
Check this out. The site is titled "Scholars for 9/11 truth." the URL is "http://www.st911.org/"

This will make your day. There are also some videos analyzing the collapse of the three buildings. I am a civil engineer and was shaken by the explanation they present.
I have been depressed all day since I first saw this video and listened to their tale. If any of this is true then the United States as we knew it no longer exists. It is very disturbing to think about.
Seems 'W' has yet to come up with even a hairbrained idea of what to do about gas prices. I'd give him a hint, but he won't listen to anybody but Dick and Karl. Schmuck, he really screwed himself up on this one. All options appear to be closed to him.
say uncle, rummy by mo dowd
Hi Cin, bye Cin...darn I missed her again.
*clearing my throat* I am still waiting for my wine
Have a great night and a Fantastic weekend everyone. It's bedtime for me. :)
kjkindlay, are these moons of jupiter visible often or is the a vary rare event tonite?
Lizzy, when gregg took my JaegerBomb, I seen your wine and I drank it.
Chris Bliss Juggling Parody
bye - Cin!! Maybe next time.
lizzy, i think dell went down the rabbit hole we all visit from time to time. i didn't actually read anything to that effect but think this is the drift. he weakened, engaged and then had to eat ice milk with a graham cracker while everyone else got ben and jerry's sundaes.
thanks for that play by play DPD.
I couldn't have summed it up any better and yeah, Rosie will clock her for sure on the first day she starts spewing her ilk.
And it will be right before the 06 elections.
Could we have planned it any better?
hmm (I am about to put the tin foil hat back on)
Gregg, I don't know - Kirk's the astronomer - he tries to educate me. I pretend to know what I'm talking about. I'll let you know when he tells me. I think it's not very common, but pfffft that's just a guess.
Well, I gotta go now. Time for home!!
Hey Ya'll {{Tonito}} I only caught a little of the Emmys........ Geary won huh? amazing, didn't see him much this year.
A lot to catch up on
Yes, kj, it will be something to watch. It is too bad this country has not figured out that the only way we'll ever get a handle on the drug problem is to follow Mexico's lead. For 50 years we have tried to solve this problem with ever increasing sums of money. Now spending Billions annually sith no improvement. Take the profit out of it and the criminals will get out of the business. We could then control it the say we control liquer sales, with licensing and taxes. Tax revenues to fund rehap clinics. But then, what would all those cops, lawyers, DEA agents and crooked pols do to earn a living?
Lizzy, I sat it on the bar, that damn gregg is stealing everybody's drinks to build up his bouncer courage, I swear! LOL
Bye Kristen and Dell....hmmmm....interesting
Damn you Greg! And damn the president too.
damn damn damn lizzy!;)
hi dawn
Dawnie, welcome to the club.
DeLL is out giving away beer from his trunk to kids in the parking lot.
gregg is supposed to be watching the door to keep out the riff raff but instead is stealing everyone's drinks. He claims jupiter mooned him earlier. tee hee
Join on in. we are having fun like the good old dayz....
Gregg it depends on the strength of your telescope...... usually Europa and Ganymeade can be seen also Callisto's shadow on jupiter........oh and IO..... IO (pronounced eye oh) that's the one that looks like a stale pizza, lol
the moon of jupiter i saw is called ganymede. here is a picture of it:
ganyemed
and some stuff:
Ganymede [GAN-ee-meed] is the largest moon of Jupiter and is the largest in our solar system with a diameter of 5,262 km (3,280 miles). If Ganymede orbited the Sun instead of Jupiter it could be classified as a planet.
Damn Rush!!!
*waving wildly to Dawn*
Jen, I feel like bam-bam
Posted by dumpw on April 28, 2006 at 11:21 PM
Yes, but that's an excellent site. If you want some more, when you're ready, I have some. I was devasted and horrified for weeks, honestly, and it was hard to let sink in.
There's a VERY exhaustive, extensive, and amazing timeline of 9/11 that's another good place to start, from Cooperative Research:
http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=complete_911_timeline&theme=oil
And, for a lighter take that'll make you laugh and cry ;/, here's The Penta-Lawn movie, a classic!
drat I'm late
bye Dell and Kristen and anyone else leaving.
Posted by PeppermintLizzy on April 28, 2006 at 11:32 PM
rush the druggie or rush the band or did you just stand up too fast and get a head rush? LOL
hey tonito, i am turning over the bouncer thing to dell and dawn. i need to go moon jupiter back.
VIDEO: Gen. Zinni Calls on Rumsfeld and Others to Resign for ‘Disastrous Mistakes’ in Iraq
I would love to get a head rush, but I cannot get a damn drink. The boys keep stealing them.
Posted by gregg on April 28, 2006 at 11:32 PM
Europa is the hot topic imo. Water water everywhere!!! :-)
Mike malloy is a hoooooooooooot tonight
Can't get a rise out of anyone, huh? Either you agree with me, or are trying to tell me something. Anyway, I know it's late on the east coast, so I'll say "later"
Lizzy - you and me both Sista!
ahem Brah you got something with an umbrella for me?
Yeah, Dawn, the emmy's were quite the show tonight being held in LA at the Kodak instead of NYC.
Plus all the soap hunks looked fabulous in their tuxes....tee hee
RUSH LIMBAUGH SUPPORTS TERRORISM.
Posted by tonitobandito on April 28, 2006 at 11:38 PM
the part I caught was Kelly Delmonico (or something) losing ..... bummed as I think she's the best cry'r on the soaps......... plus a damn good dancer.
Lizzy and Dawn, here ya go and I will personally hand them to you so they "don't get misplaced"...
Aaron, I am with you buddy! I have read and seen it all already...... did you see "Loose Change", the documentary by the NY college students?
gregg, be careful, I am not sure Jupiter could stand to look at your arse.... It's comedy!
DPD -yep, that's how I introduce him - this is Kirk, like Captain Kirk from Star Trek. He hates being called Kurt, so I'm sure to distinguish.
i want drugs legalized and regulated and no more criminalization of drug users.
Well, she lost to Kim Zimmer, Reva on Guiding Light and Luke won and GH won best soap.
Did the Celtic Goddess leave already Tony? I wish you two could carpool up here together! Save gas!
I have a queen size bed and a big couch....... we could figure something out.
Oh Sorry Aaron...did not mean to ignore, it was this damn blog. The posts keep disappearing and then they reappear, honestly.
**smiling at the bartender**
And you know damn well Republican voters like these kinds of work-place conditions and wish we all had to put up with this kind of madness.
Jury Awards $1.7M to Woman Spanked on Job
FRESNO, Calif. -- A jury awarded $1.7 million Friday to a woman who was spanked in front of her colleagues in what her employer called a camaraderie-building exercise.
The jury of six men and six women found that Janet Orlando, 53, was subjected to sexual harassment and sexual battery when she was paddled on the rear end two years ago at Alarm One Inc., a home security company in Fresno.
Sales teams were encouraged to compete, and the losers were made fun of, forced to eat baby food, required to wear diapers and spanked with a rival company's yard signs, according to court documents.
LA Times
Delmonico got shot today. It was meant for um um her BF. Great news that GH won. Kewl! (I blame long boring weekends in Korea for my getting hooked on GH) they were reruns about a month behind the states at that time but there was little else to watch. LOL
Yeah, Andrea stopped by and said it was her bedtime. College kid coming home or something.
I only wish they'd legalize herbs. The rest is crap! But that's just my opinion. I know a lot of people who's lives were ruined by harder stuff and even more who are lost to alcohol actually.
Amen to that, Jen! well, some drugs. i'd like to string up meth lab makers by their balls, pluck their pubes off one by one, and feed them to them. But I am a peace-loving anti-torture person, so I'll just have to dream about that one.
Posted by PeppermintLizzy on April 28, 2006 at 11:45 PM
I bet you are psyc'd about tomorrow!
well maybe not meth.
i did change my opinion on the meth thing, selling the ephedrine otc. i think that it is okay to put cold sufferers out a bit in order to keep the meth heads away.
Domingo - yes, that's an amazing story! WTF were those managers thinking?!
Posted by kjfindlay on April 28, 2006 at 11:49 PM
YIKes!! LOL that sounds mui painful!
Mexico poised to allow small amounts of drugs
Congress decriminalizes possession of cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, pot.
The Bush administration had no immediate reaction.

Oops, I confused Aaron with dumpw.... so sorry.
My aaron comments were meant for dumpw!
Sh*t happens when you drink behind the bar.....
i'd like to string up meth lab makers by their balls, pluck their pubes off one by one, and feed them to them.
LOL, Karen
Excuse me Bartender....could I get some seltzer please. I need to clean Domingo's back, I kind of lost some of my wine when I read Karen.
you know karen, i wrote that before i saw your post. lol. i saw this thing on meth and yeah it's evil
Is anyone listening to WDST, Radio Woodstock?
It's gregg's favorite station, and I must say MINE too!, as well as many of my Midwest friends.
dawn, ditto!!!!! my twin!
LEGALIZE IT.
DON'T CRITICIZE IT.
omg - I hate when they lump herb with those other actual physically addicting drugs!
when my eye was buggin (thyroid disease) my doctor told me the only thing he had heard of that would help was herb. 1997 - w/in about 2 months my eye was back to normal!
not to mention the pain killing elements in it. oh well.......... I should have moved to Denver, Maryland, Calif, Washington or??? I think there's one more state that approves of medical use.
WTF were those managers thinking?! Posted by kjfindlay
They were probably thinking, "Hey! The Republicans are in charge, now we can kick our workers around all we want.
Sorry to make you spit your drink, Lizzy :D Now THAT's alcohol abuse! lol
Damn, two minutes until I turn into a pumpkin. Goodnight, friends. This has been wonderful. And the Amaretto Sours were the bomb, Tonito!! Thanks! I owe you some "eye candy" as my tip - be looking...

OOOOHHHH Jeebus.
Look at the requiem for Flush at REDSTATE RACISTS (the former home of Ben the Box Turtle Boy / Plagairist, racist mysogynist) I like the dig at FDL calling THEM "liberals without a shred of moral decency".
The End Of An Ordeal, indeed. Maybe they can all use some HillBilly Heroin to ease their pain. Flush has cigar boxes FULL of the stuff.
Hey Kids, be back in a few. Just got a phone call from an old friend. May talk a while, dawn, its' my old roommate who moved to florida..... you know how that goes....
The bar is on auto=pilot for the moment....
somebody watch the tip jar...
Damn that Steinbeck, Domingo.
He has actually turned the corner...he hasn't said a kind word about the Donkey Party since Dubya took office.
He wanted to express a forlorn but stubborn hope the Democratic Party might yet reconnect with pragmatic and sensible Americans and reverse the deplorable neo-con-led erosion of the values America once so proudly represented to an awed world.

goodnite jen. think i will wrap it up myself. drove a friend into nyc today for a doctor's visit. it was one of those rare perfect days with solid blue sky, 65 degree temp and we went to fifth avenue and 60th street which is an area about as posh as it gets and the trees were in fairly late bud but still light greens instead of dark...and we out foxed all traffic by arriving at noon and leaving by 3 pm. great visual experience....with that jupiter moon it was a good day to be able to see. must remember to be appreciative. see you in the morning.
Good Night Jen,
I know it has been some week...Peaceful Sleep Jen.
and hugs to Jefro and your mom.

gnite Gregg! I love the Jovian moons! Better than any of the others in our solar system (even our own)
You had a good view if you saw it. Some day tell me what kind of scope you have.
Wow, I'm trying to install stuff on my new 'puter, so I go away for a few and peeps keep vanishing so.....

Sorry for ruining the party.
I've been waiting to say something like that for a very long time.
WOW Gregg you DID luck out! I've never been so lucky.
Yup. I just did "Gogle Earth", I still have a few things to go. I have free Netscape for a while, and then I'm going back to Firefox. I'm trying to dump all the Gates Swiss Cheese I can, so I just dumped Windows Media Player and installed RealPlayer, etc.

Well, I got desktop weather installed.
G'Nite, gregg
Back to making the new thing the same as the old thing.
On one map they labeled Australia "north korea" and on another one they labeled it "Iran" and the dopes were yelling, "Kill 'em! Kill 'em all!" at Australia!

Hi, TracyJoan!! Good peeps here, as you have probably monitored already.
Except for our resident trolls. ;)
Posted by Domingo on April 29, 2006 at 12:51 AM
don't forget the couple that said we should bomb France cuz they didn't support us. That video must have been done right after we invaded or something when people were still numb from the twin towers or something.
it was scary tho.........really
Domingo, which clip was that? There were a gazillion clips on that site, so I didn't watch.

"monitored" makes me feel like I have to call out to trolls not to run in the halls!
There definitely seems to be a solid community of commentators - something I am looking to be a part of. You'll have to forgive me while I find my way around the place...
Posted by TracyJoan on April 29, 2006 at 12:57 AM

PEACE
Okey Dokey, {{DAWN}} I'll watch it.
G'Nite.
Tracy, don't sweat it. gregg is the only one who runs in the halls. He's an old Greaser. ;)
Hi, Tracy - good luck in your new job!!! You are being paid I hope. :)
Politics is tough job whether it's organizing your neighbors and co-workers, working on a campaign, running a blog, or running for office.
Have some fun
Hey.... I just thought of something (TA-DAAAHHH!!), With Tim leaving, we just lost 33% of our CUBS fans! We are being overtaken by Cardinals and Reds fans...
So, Tracy, (ahem) Which is YOUR team?
Posted by DPD on April 29, 2006 at 01:13 AM So, Tracy, (ahem) Which is YOUR team?
Excellent question - trust DPD to cut to the chase.
Posted by dorsano on April 29, 2006 at 01:13 AM
Well I am looking forward to staying in one place for a while - I have been on the campaign trail since the 2004 election and I miss having a home!
I am super excited about starting Monday - a bit nervous even!
Posted by DPD on April 29, 2006 at 01:13 AM
Which is my team? I feel as if this question is going to get me into loads of trouble...
I am thinking that I am going to be adopting the Nationals, now that I am Washington girl.
OK, but what is your REAL team? We all feel sorry for the Expos (I mean Nats) Just getting a feel, ya know.
C'Mon, it's the "Courage of Conviction" and all that.

Posted by DPD on April 29, 2006 at 01:20 AM Hi, DORS!
Hey {{DPD}}
I just stopped by to remind Tracy that the last time the Cubs won a World Series, Social Security didn't exist and women didn't have the right to vote.
But Cub fans have filled the seats in Wrigley Field every year regardless.

Good night Democrats.
God bless you all - and God bless America.

I'm sure someone else has said this as well Tim, but I doubt the blog will be improved with you gone. I have no doubt the new blog captains will be as good as you, but not better. You've done a bang up job and I have no doubt whatever campaign you go to will be better for it.
Can't help but to love Tim & Faith. McGraw seems to have found his message and its still growing.

That is just another example in my mind of how we are surrendering our liberties to terrorists. :)

Hi Gregg, I'm hoping that Tracy will keep the trolls off of the site. This site is an awesome place to get and give information for campaigns. I've also noticed that more than a few people that may have voted pug last time come here to check out the dem stance. If the thread is just the troll crap and reply's to the troll crap then people will tend to go away.
The open thread is an AWESOME dem think tank if we can keep the trolls off.
Hope you have a great day. I'm heading out in a few mins. to a canvassing event. Hope I help a few of my fellow citizens "see the light".
Oops, Morning Deb! Sunny and 30 in upstate. I sure wish it would warm up.
Morning all,
For those canvassing, best of luck...Wish I could do it today, but a previous commitment with my family has prevented it. I have donated to moveon this morning to feel as if I at least did something useful today.
The GOP and Exxon Mobil
I read in the Washington Times that while congressional Republicans and Democrats in both the House and Senate promised to roll back billions of dollars in tax breaks for major oil companies, the House changed their minds on Thursday.
House Republicans refused to go along with a proposal that called on House members to accept a Senate-passed repeal of $5 billion worth of oil industry tax breaks.
A resolution urging House negotiators to accept the Senate tax proposals failed 232-190, with only two Republicans voting for it.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, GOP leaders unveiled a 10-point plan aimed at soothing the growing election-year public anger over high gasoline prices.
It included a $100 fuel-cost rebate for millions of taxpayers and proposals to rescind oil industry tax breaks enacted only eight months ago, and other measures.
But the plan also called for opening an Alaska wildlife refuge to oil drilling - a longtime goal of several large oil companies operating on the Alaska North Slope - to the consternation of many Democrats and moderate GOP senators, who long have opposed such a move. The drilling provision all but assured the package would have a tough time getting approved. (Nice try though)
Democrats, meanwhile, talked of suspending the 18.4-cent federal gasoline tax for two months to ease Americans' pain at the pump.
Cyn,
Let's urge everyone to call senators once again. This ANWR crap is ridiculous. In fact these replublicans are ridiculous! I sure hope that democrats will take a long look at themselves and make sure the majority of them walk a straight and narrow path for us common folk. This could be the beginning of a new era for Americans if the democrats can pull it together! Suddenly, Hillary doesn't seem so far fetched.
Pam:so Tim's coming to work for Ned?!

Feds investigating claims that contractor provided call girls to congressman

Bill Kristol, who is one of the major players in the group called PNAC, joined the set of the "Colbert Report," and I think was taken off guard right at the outset of the show because he had to answer questions that our media never asks. PNAC envisioned America attacking the Middle East since the middle '90's and for some inexplicable reason (that was a joke) the media never questions him or his members which have lined the walls of Bush's cabinet about PNAC and how it influenced our foreign policy, which led us to attack Iraq.
I tried to download the Cobert report interview with Kristol, but it took to long. Did anyone see it? I'll try it again when I get home from Weeki Wachee. My daughter wants to see 'live' mermaids!
morning bb,
Not sure WHO Tim will be working for. Would be sure excited to hear it is for Ned. But any of the other 3 candidates trying to take Repubs spots would be good, or against our Republican Governor, who got her spot by default when they carted off the Republican Rowland for Corruption !

A couple of weeks ago, I got rejected twice trying to use my ATM card and I couldn't take any money out of either savings or checking accounts. The Credit Union said the computer was down, but the guy ahead of me got his withdrawl and so did the person behind me. The thing is, I HAD money in there, certainly enough to withdraw the $20 I needed for an 1/8th of a tank of gas or whatever that woulda bought me back then. Maybe that'll explain what's up, PamB, who knows?
Speaking of flakes, welcome to the DNC blog YumpnYimminy. You're kind of like that dirty old man who grabs all the nurses asses at the nursing home, who all the nurses hate, but they are still nice to him because they have to be.
Brian,
Did you call your bank after it happened?
The article says they reviewed bank records, as well as other records , but did not say they put a hold on any money. I think the numbers are way low for internet spying.

No one ever said it's only terrorists in other countries. There are terrorists here too, and those terrorists are here legally - remember 9/11? It was in all the papers. Many of them are citizens. I am surprised it's only 3501.
They have been monitoring the calls to or from terrorists in ohter countries. Calls between terrorists within this country require court approval.

Do you have any idea what this country could be doing with this money ? No more talk about ending SS nor Medicare, and we could really fund education. Those grants and pells for college students. Health Insurance for all even low income Republicans. Port and Border security.

Good, Yooper. I'm planning a trip to the UP sometime in late Summer. It'll be part of my annual Baseball road trip, so this year I decided to see the Twinkies again. I haven't been in the Twin Cities in about 15 years, so I added a side trip to the UP to it so my friend can see some relatives. One of his cousins is running for Representative. I don't know if he's a Pug or not, but after 30 seconds I'll have him sized up.

Bush Impeachment - The Illinois State Legislature Is Preparing to Drop a Bombshell
The Illinois General Assembly is about to rock the nation. Members of state legislatures are normally not considered as having the ability to decide issues with a massive impact to the nation as a whole. Representative Karen A. Yarbrough of Illinois' 7th District is about to shatter that perception forever. Representative Yarbrough stumbled on a little known and never utlitized rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature. From there, Illinois House Joint Resolution 125 (hereafter to be referred to as HJR0125) was born.
Detailing five specific charges against President Bush including one that is specified to be a felony, the complete text of HJR0125 is copied below at the end of this article. One of the interesting points is that one of the items, the one specified as a felony, that the NSA was directed by the President to spy on American citizens without warrant, is not in dispute. That fact should prove an interesting dilemma for a Republican controlled US House that clearly is not only loathe to initiate impeachment proceedings, but does not even want to thoroughly investigate any of the five items brought up by the Illinois Assembly as high crimes and/or misdemeanors. Should HJR0125 be passed by the Illinois General Assembly, the US House will be forced by House Rules to take up the issue of impeachment as a privileged bill, meaning it will take precedence over other House business.
The Illinois General Assembly joins a growing chorus of voices calling for censure or impeachment of President Bush including Democratic state committees in Vermont, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Nevada and North Carolina as well as the residents themselves of seven towns in Vermont, seventy Vermont state legislators and Congressman John Conyers. The call for impeachment is starting to grow well beyond what could be considered a fringe movement. An ABC News/Washington Post Poll Conducted April 6-9 showed that 33% of Americans currently support Impeaching President Bush, coincidentally, only a similar amount supported impeaching Nixon at the start of the Watergate investigation. If and when Illinois HJR0125 hits the capitol and the individual charges are publicly investigated, that number is likely to grow rapidly. Combined with the very real likelihood that Rove is about to be indicted in the LeakGate investigation, and Bush is in real trouble beyond his plummeting poll numbers. His cronies in the Republican dominated congress will probably save him from the embarassment of an impeachment conviction, for now, but his Presidency will be all but finished.

Maybe you should consider moving to a warmer climate, like Florida?

California Becomes Second State to Introduce Bush Impeachment
Joining Illinois, California has become the second state in which a proposal to impeach President Bush has been introduced in the state legislature. And this one includes Cheney as well.
California Assemblyman Paul Koretz of Los Angeles (where the LA Times has now called for Cheney's resignation) has submitted amendments to Assembly Joint Resolution No. 39, calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. The amendments reference Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature.
The resolution, in the words of Koretz's press release, "bases the call for impeachment upon the Bush Administration intentionally misleading the Congress and the American people regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify an unnecessary war that has cost billions of dollars and thousands of lives and casualties; exceeding constitutional authority to wage war by invading Iraq; exceeding constitutional authority by Federalizing the National Guard; conspiring to torture prisoners in violation of the 'Federal Torture Act' and indicating intent to continue such actions; spying on American citizens in violation of the 1978 Foreign Agency Surveillance Act; leaking and covering up the leak of the identity of Valerie Plame Wilson, and holding American citizens without charge or trial."

Rage against the machine!! Yay BLUE states RULE~~ The people usually get what they want and of course we ARE in the SUPER majority now so we can just start swatting bugs left and right and clean up this place in no time!!
I'm so encouraged!
Hello everyone. Just got back from one of Florida's oldest tourist attractions, Weeki Wachee. My daughter loved watching the mermaid show and was so happy to talk to one. Gregg was right; even with all the idiots out there and with all the issues we are fighting, it's important to appreciate the family.
The California Democratic Party believes that the President and Vice President have committed the following offenses that warrant impeachment proceedings:
1-Intentionally misleading Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war against Iraq, and intentionally
conspiring with others to defraud Congress in this regard.
2-Ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American citizens without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, as required by law, specifically, Title 50 United States Code, Section 1805.
3-Conspiring to commit the torture of prisoners. This crime violates the "Federal Torture Act" Title 18 United States Code, Section 113C. It also violates the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention, which are U.S. law under Article VI of the U.S. Constitution, which makes treaties ratified by the US part of US law.
4-Ordering indefinite detention without access to legal counsel, without charge, and without the opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, all in violation of U.S. law and the Bill of Rights.
On these grounds, the Democratic Party of the Great State of California, calls for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard “Dick” Cheney.

So Domingo I forget, which state are you in??? Ohio?
YOu have some great links today. Thanks :-)
OH I was sent a zogby poll to take today. A few of the questions were interesting....... they are probing our thoughts on if we're willing to vote for a woman and if not this year when might we see a woman as President. Or if we think a woman should be VP before running for Pres.
Also they asked finally about if we thought Hillary stood a good chance, fair chance , etc of becoming president if she has Bill working to help her campaign?
How dumb. zogby is showing his chauvenist side it seems
Dawnie,
SWFMD bought all the land around it from the city of St. Petersburg. It is conservation land for now...unless Charlie Christ becomes governor I'm sure.
How about we migrate to another thread? Like the Dean thread?
Hey William, I got this email from Democrats.com too !
Will Your State Be the First to Send Impeachment Charges to Congress?
Three state legislatures, Illinois, California, and Vermont, have now introduced resolutions to send petitions to the U.S. House of Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against Bush (and, in the case of California, Cheney too). Minnesota, Missouri, and Oklahoma all have legislatures still active in May. Delaware, Louisana, R.I., South Carolina, and Puerto Rico are all up and running through June. New Hampshire is in session through July.
Every state has legislators brave enough to take the lead if we urge them to do so and provide them with the information they need.
Here's a kit to get you started:

Here's a place to get organized with others in your area:

Hey CYN I'm over at the other thread with dpd.
Our station here at Ingles has not changed in a week. Still at $2.87 surprisingly as all others in town have increased. But we have many stations so I don't know?

Dawnie, I think it's the WH correspondents dinner. It's usually entertaining and widely repeated on the news channels.
Afternoon all, It's good to see everyone is hard at it. This will be quick. I really hate to say this, but it's about 90 degrees and I'm due for a swim.
Didn't check all the way back to AM, but did ya'all see the NY Times OP-Ed piece "Trading Frenzy Adding to Rise in Price of Oil"? That's the type of info I was referring to last night on my post. Because they have put the US in such an unfavorable position, there is no way for the admin. to calm investors fears and take the heat out of the oil markets. If, just once, that nit-wit would read something smart, like the piece above, he might be able to actually accomplish something. Enough is enough! Vote Democratic!
Thanks Annilow (ltns) my buddy dpd just told me that on the other thread we've migrated to......... thanks! I don't want to slam him if he's a fine democrat!
Two thoughts: One, starting now, I will end all posts with the slogan. Second: Don't tell me about the price of gas. You have no idea. Paid $3.29.9 yesterday for unleaded regular. Expect it will be more tomorrow. Not doing any driving that I don't absolutly have to.
