The 50-State Canvass

DNC National Organizing Day A Success

May 2, 2006

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement highlighting the DNC’s National Organizing Canvass Day:

“Today Democrats all over the country went out into their neighborhoods and communities and talked about the bold Democratic agenda for change. All across the country, in all 50 states and territories, Democrats showed up and talked about our core values and beliefs. This morning, dedicated volunteers and organizers distributed 1 million door hangers to Americans who are hungry for change and eager for a government who puts the people’s interests first.

“I was pleased to have participated in this widespread unprecedented canvassing event. This morning’s activities helped to invigorate our base and reach out to new voters with a personal touch. The one thing expressed most by people was that they know that our country can do better. And we believe that under Democratic leadership we can. Today’s national canvassing event is just the start of things to come in the next few months. Democrats will continue to reach out and connect with Americans about the Democratic vision on how to change our country together. We believe this same positive Democratic agenda will offer voters a clear choice in 2006 between positive change and Republicans who continue to offer more of the same failed policies.

“As positive stories come in from around the country from organizers and volunteers we know that when Democrats show up and talk about their values and what they believe in they can and will win anywhere in the country.”
