DNC Nominates Philip D. Murphy as National Finance Chair

Today, the Democratic National Committee announced the nomination of Philip D. Murphy as National Finance Chair. Mr. Murphy has had a distinguished career at Goldman Sachs where he most recently was a senior director of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. During his career at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Murphy held a number of other senior positions, including head of the German region, president of Goldman Sachs Asia and global co-head of the Investment Management Division. He also served on the firm's management committee. Mr. Murphy has done fundraising for a number of Democratic campaigns, including former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, Senator Hillary Clinton, former Senator Tom Daschle, among others.

"We are extremely thrilled to have Phil join our team here at the DNC," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "Phil's winning combination of a strong business sense, tremendous energy, and a contagious enthusiasm to help bring much needed change to our country, will be a tremendous asset to our already strong finance team."

Mr. Murphy also holds leadership roles on a number of different civic and educational boards. He is presently chairman of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation Executive Committee, a member of the NAACP Special Contribution Fund Board of Trustees, president of the 180 Turning Lives Around Board, a member of the U.S. Soccer Foundation Board of Directors, and on the University of Pennsylvania's Huntsman Program Advisory Board.

Mr. Murphy's nomination is pending election by the full DNC by a vote-by-mail ballot.
