You probably don't give a shit what happens to me, But I'm the one that fuel prices put out of business. So now there repo'ing my truck this week and today their cutting off my phone. At 61 years old it is hard to find a job no one wants a old man working for them. Just think one day this could happen to YOU

GOOD question Sandy!! Thank Goodness SOME of us can!! I think it may be catching on too!

Greg, I was glad to read that about the Chicks being #1
They deserve it for being HONEST and speaking TRUTH to POWER!!! I hope the redpukes actually LISTEN to the words from their music! And maybe take those damn nasty flags off the backs of their gas hogs & suv windows!

Sorry to hear that and I'm sure it may not matter to you that you are not alone.
if our marines are charged in haditha massacre, charge george bush, dick cheney, and donald rumsfield with war crimes! the buck stops at the top. they obliterated the pottery rule. impeachment is too light a sentence. if america doesn't have the guts to try these 3 whacos occupying the whitehouse, then relinguish them to an international court...and too a trial held in a court in haditha...haditha doesn't have a viable court? no problem, hold the trial in the open street.
"a renegade band of rightwing extremists"
It appears that Sennenbrener agrees with Al Gore for maybe the first time?
I just love this picture of Bob & Friends...this in a paper out of the 18th Congressional District here in OH. HAVA more fun all the time. (pos! ruined democracy!!!)
The 'champion': Ex-aide Volz takes stand at Safavian trial, describes Ney as a lobbyist's best friend
“We had a champion in Congress who had already agreed to attach other provisions to that bill, and it was moving,” Volz said, referring to an election-reform bill that Ney sponsored.
“Who was that champion?” asked federal prosecutor Nathaniel Edmonds.
“Congressman Ney,” Volz responded.
dogbroke,
sorry to hear. and, yes i do care. it hurts reading your post. america should be taking care of its own. americans 1st. my sugggestion would help, but will not happen. leave iraq or sieze the wealthy repubs assets for their debacle, starting with the assets of kingbush, shotgun-dick, and rum-the-lier, and rove-the-spinner...they are the benefactors. the taxpayers are the losers, including the blood and flesh of our finest.

I'll still never forgive Senselessbrenner for turning the mic off (and house lights) on John Conyers!!
He's a hideous man who's as smug as they get over this latest breach of the constitution (all for show no doubt as Cheney is hiding much via his pawn Jefferson)
I can't wait to see if Gonzalez will uncover the truth after he reads all that info on the hard drive of Jefferson's computer. The parts where it says Halliburton got some big contract in Africa thanks to Cheney and Jefferson's help.
Oh wait didn't Cheney make GW halt all that investigation (while they supposedly cool down) or in otherwords while the breach is repaired and the info disappears into some back room in cheney's office? While Jefferson being a pawn goes to jail?
Yea that sounds about right.
I care what happens to a 61-year-old whose business got screwed by the high fuel prices. I'm not far behind you, Fred. I know 30 somethings facing layoff who now say their 5-year career plans now include becoming a greeter at a Walmart someday.
What do we do when bankrupcies gets to be an epidemic? Are they going to throw all the baby boomers in debtors prisons? Send all the younger ones off to Syria or Iran with radiation suits? When do we join the Vietnam vets on skid row?
It's time to Restore America not the Middle East.
Time to bring home the troops and get serious about alternative fuels....make the rich pay for their little experiement in outsourcing American jobs and importing cheap foreign laborers and Asian creditors.
gotta run...while I still can afford using my car.
later.
20 bux and it only gave me 3/4 of a tank!!!
I hear you Sandy and I'm back out myself.
6am was wayyyyy too early for this night owl to open her lids! Maybe a nappy later.

I'll never forgive Ty Cobb for being such a bigoted bastard...but he did his job on the field. We need to preserve this republic until we can get back control of Congress. If we have to rely on the likes of Sennenbrener, well, we have to.
I don't think any of us understand how close we are to the edge of a dictatorship in the country. Domingo said that last night and he's right.
I love Conyers, too. He reminds me on one of my uncles. But he doesn't have the power to stop them right now.

Morning {{Dems}}
Fred, I hate like anything to hear what's going on in your life, man. My better half and I are just now coming out of 3 years of un-/under-employment. Sleeping in a pickup with 3 dogs is not the most pleasant accommodations Ive ever had :(
I'll be 49 in a couple of weeks and know what you mean about nobody wanting mature workers. American companies either want "interns" who will work like dogs for free or to pay you half of what you're worth. I'm making less than half what I was 6 years ago, myself.
Wish we were closer, man. Our hearts ache for your troubles. You've given us one more good reason to kick elephant arse.
dogbroke,
i know that humor will not help. but in the light of your situtation, this is what i posted last night. i coudn't have made this up.
"stopped at my station yesterday to fill up...then only put in $25. i'll drive less. while looking at the pump, someone had written using a permanent marker scrolled on the pump "f...you bush." i mentioned that to the attendant inside and he said, yep, he's been getting a lot of heat and he has nothing to do with it. nor, did he go out and clean off the pump. says something about the person who wrote it and the attendant...tells me they think the same way."
We need to get stickers/banners/flyers at every gas station "thanking King George". The $50 I put in last night will last only a week for me. Get it into the people's heads that when they checked the Bush box on the ballot in 2000 and 2004, they were voting for outrageous gas prices.
America1st, we had a piece on the local news the other night about the flack that station attendents are taking for the high gas prices. One local station started flying the Jolly Rodger in protest of being ripped off by the big oil companies and another station posted on one of their signs

Last summer Shell put the squeeze on one of the local stations because they wanted to force her to break her contract and take over her station so they spread out her fuel deliveries to the point they eventually put her completely out of business.
These are the FOB's (Friend's of Bush) that continue to sky rocket to the top on the backs of those that have fallen under their weight.
Fred,
As a 59 yr old, I understand where you're coming from. My husband was out of work three years ago for 6 months before he found a job. He is making 1/2 of what he was before he lost his other job due to downsizing. I blame all of this on the greed that has taken over this country and the Republicans who control that greed. I live in an area where the median wage is well over $100,000/yr and they ALL vote Republican thus, a very red county.
They have no compassion, they think if you're not rich, you didn't try hard enough. They are the epitome of the Republican State of the Have More's - Bush's base.
I'm sick of it!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki declared Wednesday a month-long state of emergency in Basra, where violence has erupted in recent weeks among rival Shiite factions fighting for control of its rich oil resources, and sectarian tensions remain high.

Blue, it is now close to $75.00 to fill up our large family car, thankfully we drive it only close to home and to run errands that require the kids come with so a tank of gas will last a little over two weeks.
This has definitely stopped many of the things we would have done like trips to see the family in Cd'A and even short day trips to the city. All fun family activities are weighed against the expense of driving and I have actually turned down job interviews because it would require I drive to work rather than having mass transit options.
No wonder Bush refuses to do anything to get ready for nature diasters...it's far more profitable to clean up than protect. While they are busy doling out cash to their no bid contractors they refuse to help those with homes there rebuild.

Kristen,
yes, i'm sure we'll be seeing more of this. i guess i wasn't surprised by the attendant's attitude that someone had scrolled "f... you bush" on his pump. the scary part is if we pasted pictures of bush thanking us on behalf of his oil cronies on pumps, we'd have a consumers clobbering the pictures and the pumps... not good for the stations or the fire depts.
Posted by america1st on May 31, 2006 at 12:05 PM
So few to do the clobbering now, I'm not worried. Even those that claim to support him are pissed.

it is now close to $75.00 to fill up our large family car
kristen,
that's why i only put in $25 and vowed to drive less. it is no concidence that the price of gas has skyrocketed as the oil profits rise while the situation with oil producing countries vs the unted states becomes more strained by kingbush. keep in mind, our kingbush distanced us from cuba also...then china does an oil deal w/cuba. kingbush threatens iran, and iraq meets one-on-one w/iran, then the issue of iraqi oil...paying it's own way? what a sham ... and we taxpayers pay the price for all kingbush's motorcade of gas hogs on their way to another bushphoto op.
america1st, I've decided to fill it up and drive it less, that way I'm only going once every 2 weeks, we haven't found away for my husband to get around driving since he works construction and is constantly changing job sites but we do carpool as much as possible with him even taking me to the morning train on his way to work.
As for Bush's motorcades, the foolish would be King is coming to our state soon to fund raise for Reichert. This absolutely kills me since we pay for these fundraising junkets (heavy on the workd JUNK). It is time the campaign's pick up the tab for these things, but I'm sure they would realize he costs them more than he gives them, but then we already knew that!
kristen.
i'd suspect that if kingbush's motorcades had to pay their own gas, they'd do a squeeze on the independent stations to cut them a deal or else the companies that supply the independents would cut off the supplies or raise the costs on the independents. there is nothing this corrupt adm wouldn't do.
Unraveling ‘Team Abramoff’s’ strategy
The Abramoff team sent Ney partially filled out draft financial disclosure forms for him to use in filing disclosures with Congress that falsely understated the total cost of the trip at $3,200, Volz testified.
“I thought that number passed the smell test,” Volz said, explaining that he hoped that reporters searching public records for travel abuses would pass right over it without asking questions.
In a statement, Ney’s spokesman, Brian J. Walsh, said, “Congressman Ney filed exactly what his office was told to be the cost of the trip ... what every other member who has taken a privately funded trip has done for years.”

Domingo
everything in The Turner Diaries is all the same stuff the "Driftwood boys" keep saying in here.
At first I was going to just ignore your post and chalk it up as misguided. But on second thought, Driftwood and I need to call it what it is.
You Domingo, are a BOLD FACE LIAR. Driftwood nor I have read the Turner Diaries, even though we did hear them discussed in the McVeigh trial. For you to drop this unjustified label on us is not only ignorant, racist, and self serving, but a disgrace to the 1st Amendment, and an attempt to remove pragmatic considerations from the debate on illegal immigration.
Once again I will state, we support legal immigration while opposing illegal immigration. The cost for your agenda will remove badly needed funding for elderly and poor Americans and give it to illegal immigrants. You support amnesty for SS fraud and could seem to care less about whether your agenda is sustainable.
I don’t see any value in you keeping this a “hot button” topic until the US House starts its reconciliation with the Senate bill.
Sorry Momo! I know you like Domingo, but he is more than just wrong here.
Bruce Schneier: We're giving up privacy and getting little in return.Better to put people, not computers, in charge of investigating potential plots.

(snip).......Just in the United States, there are trillions of connections between people and events -- things that the data-mining system will have to "look at" -- and very few plots. This rarity makes even accurate identification systems useless.
Let's look at some numbers. We'll be optimistic -- we'll assume the system has a one in 100 false-positive rate (99 percent accurate), and a one in 1,000 false-negative rate (99.9 percent accurate). Assume 1 trillion possible indicators to sift through: that's about 10 events -- e-mails, phone calls, purchases, Web destinations, whatever -- per person in the United States per day. Also assume that 10 of them actually indicate terrorists plotting.
This unrealistically accurate system will generate 1 billion false alarms for every real terrorist plot it uncovers. Every day, the police will have to investigate 27 million potential plots in order to find the one real terrorist plot per month. Clearly ridiculous

Why do you call Domingo a bald faced liar? I went back to see what post you were refering to and nowhere in the post did Domingo say that you actually read these Turner Diaries, but he simply stated that the diaries were similar to the same thing you and your crew keep repeating. I know that you may feel it was inferred that you had read it, but it doesn't say anything of the sort. Or is it that you are embarrassed that some of your rhetoric is highly revered by hate groups? I am just asking because to call someone a liar for saying something that was true is odd. It would be different if Domingo had actually said that you lifted your views from those documents, but he didn't. He simply stated the fact that the views in those Diaries was similar to those views that you express.
This email is to alert you to a new project: The Alachua Project - which
seeks to bring democracy to the City of Alachua and to expose and remove
the corrupt practices plaguing that city.
There is a website where you can find out what is going on and participate:
Please stop by.
Also of note - the Alachua County Republican Party, with the official
sanction of the Republican Executive Committee, has now launched its own
registraton-based site. It openly admits that it is behind this site and
endorses and sponsors it. This was confirmed this morning by Republican
Chairman Stafford Jones.
This site can be found at http://thetruthabouttheala.blogspot.com
What is clear is who has been authoring the numerous "anonymous" attacks
on other local sites in recent months - as it is the same tone and style
(as well as content) as has been seen there.
Stafford Jones explicitly stated to State Candidate Charlie Grapski this
morning that the Alachua County Republican Party has decided to "draw a
line in the sand" on the issue of the City of Alachua. Alachua, according
to the GOP official, is a "model" city which should be followed throughout
Alachua County. What the ALA and the Alachua Project, as well as Grapski
and others, have challenged as being inappropriate, unethical, and illegal
are instead portrayed by the local Republican Party as "pro-job,
pro-family" governance.
They have drawn the line in the sand - and declared that all should take
sides on that line. Its another "You're either with us or against us"
moment. And they have clearly defined which side of that line the
Republican Party stands on. Where do you stand?

That's what I was looking for...a book that could change all of our lives...even the ones's who think they have all the answers.
I'm tired of re-hashing the past. I want to work toward something again...not just drive out the barbarians.
Bruno,
We have all been stoned from time to time on this blog. I was driven away for making (I can now admit to myself was a pretty unfeeling, smug remark) off-hand comment about Paul Wellstone. I was lynched, burned at the stake...and then I realized I didn't care. And neither should you.
I knew I didn't do anything wrong. You know you are right with yourself. So let it go.
We all come here from different perspectives. That's what I find interesting. I'm surprised every day by how strongly some people feel about some things I take for granted. You can broaden your horizons or limit them.
Here's a secret: I sometimes say things that aren't true. Don't bother to check my facts on purpose. Just want to make my point. I just can't help myself when I'm on a roll. I'm not perfect and I like it that way.

Too wordy IMO. FWIW, I don't believe anyone else on this blog would compare your rants to the Turner Diaries. They would be wrong.
Budget reprise reveals how fiscal times have changed
Democrats have talked for a couple of years about unveiling their own version of the “Contract With America” before Election Day, mimicking the strategy Republicans used in 1994 to capture the House.
But Republicans seem largely to have renounced the Contract. Many conservatives believe the party’s evolution of beliefs has led to the GOP’s political troubles today: low poll numbers and growing fear that Democrats may regain power.
I sometimes say things that aren't true. Don't bother to check my facts on purpose. Just want to make my point. I just can't help myself when I'm on a roll. I'm not perfect and I like it that way.

You mean that you tell stories? ;)
Posted by Bruno on May 31, 2006 at 02:19 PM
That makes a better argument than just saying someone is a bald faced liar, IMO. Saying what the Diaries (which I had never heard of) say and how you do not agree with them makes your argument for you better than just calling someone a liar. I agree that you have not stated the opinions as laid out in the Turner Diaries, and thank you for the clarification. I appreciate that. As you know, I agree with you on many of the issues surrounding Illegal Immigration, I just don't talk about it here so much because it causes such consternation. But that's just me. THANKS.

Monkey Business 2008
On Wednesday we were treated to a jaw-dropping Bill Frist puff piece by Washington Post writer Laura Blumenfield, who followed the politician and heart surgeon into a National Zoo operating room as he performed an operation on a gorilla named Kuja. Her breathless reporting describes the surgeon's "hairy arms" and the odor of gorilla testosterone. She fantasizes about the stanky hormone clinging to the Senate majority leader as he presides over the Senate later in the day as its top "silverback" gorilla.

Do you think he knows that there is a "war" in Iraq? Oh never mind, probably not.
U.S. Sets Conditions for Talks With Iran
hey Esmeralda,
this is the problem...setting conditions before talks. remember recently the iranian leader extended a diplomatic letter and our arrogant hell bent on war kingbush rejected it. that, was an opening, eventhough the letter was critical...diplomatic courtesy, which is lacking with the bush nuthouse in washington, should have accepted the letter as an opening to dialogue. kingbush already, not the iranian leader, overseas is perceived as the boggie man. add to this, the other day iraq met with iran one-on-one to discuss just this issue. the same iraq (mission accomplished) that we are still quagmired in over are heads in blood and money. so, this extension to talk w/conditions is another way for conniving rice to say...see we tried, but they were not interested...another spin, another sham, and another potential war that we can ill afford, nor would the world support. come on folks, we're already isolated no thanks to kingbush and his court of arrogant jesters. i'd sense that real diplomacy and world peace is not in america's immediate future.
Hey Blue, I was just reading that it looks like the 'stolen' VA data encompasses more than was first thought and includes including phone numbers and addresses. What is really strange to me is that while there was a 'burglar' there has been no mention of anything else being taken from his home.

Thomas Paine/Blue,
I like that "rebuilding"/"restoring" language. It's like saying let's create something great again.
I also think reminding people that America was once an Impossible Dream sort-of-place...and could be again...doesn't hurt. It's been a long time since we've had any good news.
The Republicans have mandated that we can only be successful as a country by adopting unrealistic goals and ideals of perfection.
It's a bunch of malarkey. Perfection? No wonder they have fallen on their faces so badly.
Now that their strategy has failed in every conceivable way (domestically and overseas), we're left with a pretty battered and bruised national image that we don't really deserve. People need some encouragement that isn't just another publicity stunt or propaganda.
So let's not do it. Instead, let's ask Americans to start acting like Americans again.
Ask them to quit blaming scapetgoats for all their troubles. Face the future with God at our side not at our back. Start taking those baby steps necessary to solve our problems instead of praying for an answer.
That is what made America great. Not a lot of fictional models of propriety and piety. We work hard and we play hard as a people. We have never been saints.
Let's regain that rough, tough, and tumble attitude toward life. That's the American way...the American spirit. That's where our good ole yankee ingenuity and confederate pride comes from. We can move mountains when we are challenged.
Why have the Republicans tried to make us ashamed of our heritage and culture? It's that unpolished, unappologetic spirit that got our ancesters across the oceans, over the Rockies, and all the way to the moon.
But that national spirit had been muzzled by the Repubicans. They want us to be afraid and divided. There is something really unnatural about it all...sick in some way.
Why would any American political party knowingly cripple their own country? Why have did they make us fail?
So this is our message:
America doesn't wait.
Americans make their own destiny. And that destiny is to achieve everything we set out to do. No more Republican excuses or failures.
Americans aren't waiting for another president in '09 to solve our problems. We begin fixing them now...by electing a Democratic Congress this fall.

Hey Blue, I was just reading that it looks like the 'stolen' VA data encompasses more than was first thought and includes including phone numbers and addresses. What is really strange to me is that while there was a 'burglar' there has been no mention of anything else being taken from his home.
While I'm not a big tin foil hat person, I can't help but wonder if this guy had told the burglar where to look.

"By using Ethanol and Methanol, we can put our farmers to work instead of paying them not to farm and we can spread the wealth by putting Hawaii and Puerto Rico to work growing sugar cane again. We can also put Central America and Mexico to work growing sugar cane instead of Opium and whatever other drugs they produce. It's a win win situation. This could also help the illegal immigration problem we are currently facing."
I understand that sugar cane can also be grown in the southeast.

Brazil's ethanol yields nearly eight times as much energy as corn-based options, according to scientific data.
"Our energy balance is so favorable not just because we have high yields, but also because we don't use any fossil fuels to process the cane, which is not the case with corn."
"In the past, the residue left when cane stalks are compressed to squeeze out juice was discarded. Today, Brazilian sugar mills use that residue to generate the electricity to process cane into ethanol, and use other byproducts to fertilize the fields where cane is planted."

I didn't realize that the whole bush crime family and administrations were involved in raping California. I sensed it at the time when king bush, jr. did nothing for us.
Senator Barbara Boxer Wants Troops Out of Iraq By Year's End . . .
The latest reporting by the pugs on faux, Carter got money from Bin Ladin Group. Therefore why should Bush get slammed from helping the Bin Ladin Group.
Here is why Bush should get slammed for aiding and abeding the Bin Ladin Group.
1) The Bin Ladin Group were associated with the Ford administration, Paul woof, rummy, xheney were all part of Ford Administration. They catered to Bin Ladin to help curb the Islamic fundamentalist in Afganistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran!!
2) During the Carter Administration the Bin Labin Groups relationship and foriegn policy towards keeping an open channel with the people in the region ment keeping a relationship with the Bin Ladin Group. During the Carter adminstration the Osama Bin Ladin was not identified as a terrorist.
3) The Bush administration continue to support he Bin Ladin group when it was known that Osama Bin Ladin was "The Terrorist" responsible for multiple bombings of american installations around the world and was getting support from the Bin Ladin Group.
That's the difference between Bush and Carter. Carter inherited a policy from Ford administration with woof, xheney, rummy. Carter kept a channel open and negotiated some good pieces treaties in the middle east. Bush continue to do business with the Bin Ladin Group even after he knew they funneled money to Osama Bin Ladin and Bush administration knew Osama Bin Ladin bombed US installations around the world but continue to do business with Osama's money source. That is a tresonous act!
That's the difference and the Lie the pugs are attempting to portray!!!
Before I "cared" about politics I can remember coming home from school and my Dad would be sitting in front of the tube watching at least 3 different versions to get what he called "all the views" (cbs, nbc, abc usually, no faux news back then)
All I remember is being so sick of news!! I would turn it off or leave the house and go ride my horse or what ever.
This is what I think a large part of the nation is doing. Turning it off. As long as their lives are some what stable all they've got to complain about is the gas prices. (I remember that from the 70's as well)
That is really bothering me. Thinking about that. How many are only tuning in for a short time to hear something horrible and turning it back off. OR hearing ONLY someone like Chris Matthews tonight again on the HILLARY in 08 band wagon and his "is it for real" marriage.
If this is all the GP is getting then we are totally screwed!
How do you get someone to care about politics? Maybe that's like asking how do you get someone to quit smoking? You DON'T! They've got to come to that realization on their own.
It's a scary thought. Just sharing. I know most of you have been avid lovers of the game of politics for eons. I was not. Not that I shouldn't have been. I'm honest though and admit to missing a LOT of the strife.

...Bush flew several miles from the island, where he and one other crew member on the TBM Avenger bailed out of the aircraft. However, the other man's parachute did not open, and he fell to his death. It was never determined which man bailed out with Bush. Both Delaney and White were killed in action. While Bush waited four hours in his inflated raft, several fighters circled protectively overhead until he was rescued by the lifeguard submarine U.S.S. Finback. For this action Bush received the Distinguished Flying Cross. During the month he remained on Finback, Bush helped rescue other pilots.
However, some people have expressed skepticism of the official story, asking if Bush bailed-out unnecessarily, causing the needless deaths of his crewmates. The primary witness against the official story are Charles Bynum and Chester Mierzejewski.[1][2]

And some speculate that GHW shot the guy on the way down, in order to cover up for his personal cowardice.

It was pretty bad during the Vietnam War. The military draft made everyone get involved in politics.
I think the bleak jobs picture in the U.S. could be just as galvanizing. As middle class Americans start realizing their standard of living is dropping (or their children or grandchildren's) and is not going to recover, things could get pretty dicey.
I think a lot of the anger generated around illegal immigration is really middle class frustration with corporate America and the Republicans who have been allowing them to outsource and insource cheap labor at their expense. Those that voted for these bums can't yet admit they made a mistake.
But when they started going after Social Security you saw what happened. The middle class baby boomers drew a line. The Republicans are going to be forced to go after it again. By outsoucing good paying jobs, the fund is shrinking.
They young and old will come together like they did with Vietnam. Something ugly is developing. I wouldn't want to be an affluent American when it surfaces.
I guess it all comes down to shame. Some people just have NO shame!
Nothing bothers them. They never feel embarrassed by their actions. Some of it is generational I am aware of that. (like cussing)
But to not feel guilty for cheating on either a mate or a test or the extra 25 cents the clerk gave you that was too much...... and have no shame?
They are souL- Less. Plain as that I guess.

I was stationed in Kassel in the British zone as part of an Army Security Agency unit. We were fairly close to the East German border and were ordered to be ready to head west if the Russians crossed the border since we were a non-combat battalion and right in the path of historical invasion route through Kassel.
I didn't think to much about the wall going up to tell you the truth. I am a history buff and have been reading the history of WWI and WWII including the events leading up to the wars. I didn't really get interested in the history until the late 1960's.
One night when I was on shift at our work center we received reports that the Russians lined up their tanks in a long line right at the border facing west with their lights on. We were, to say the least, a little alarmed.
I think at about the same time, Kennedy became President and extended everyone's enlistment several months. The draftees were very upset about being extended especially the lifers as we called them. At the time, they weren't allowed to bring their families over because of the crisis with Russia.
I just loved Germany, of course I found out the reason in 1989, most of my mother's family came from Germany.

Restore America!
In America we truly believe that each day brings us a new opportunity to do better than we did the day before. We threw off tyranny in our own land, halted a worldwide threat of oppression, misery and death and saw daybreak over the long, cold war.
We have seen political scoundrels in our midst cause great damage to our treasury, institutions and even global standing in times past and even today. They campaign on hate and fear to shout down the better angels of the American ideal, where all men are created equal and fear is moderated with prudence and wisdom.
The spell of these prejudice peddlers and false prophet trampy little Jesus pimps, who get fat from the carrion of their deceit, is a short lived spell, save for only a few. The newly awakened realize they have been duped and are of little humor. America is the strongest nation on the face of the earth. She gets her power from the people who vote.

Hoover surely sounded like a wacco repug didn't he. I remember my father talking about working for WPA in San Francisco, probably in 1934. He couldn't find work so WPA gave him the job of drilling holes in Eucalyptus acorns. I think at the time people used hanging beads or acorns for room dividers in doorways. Things were really bad. He finally got a job as a postman in 1937.
When Roosevelt took office he started all kinds of recovery programs such as the Conservation Corp where young men worked in the National Forests and Parks thinning trees, building trails and fighting fires. An interesting note. A large number of these kids made their careers with the Forest Service and were retiring in the 70's. They made a great backbone for the Service. Roosevelt also electrified (Rural Electrification Administration) the mid-west. Prior to his administration much of the midwest did not have electricity. Part of their work included the dams in the Tennessee Valley and Grand Coulee Dam in Washington.
During the 30's some very large skyscrapers were built including the Empire State Building. All these projects provided jobs for the everyday American. The repukes couldn't care less. They were afraid that the average American would be come dependent on government and that would be a sin.
The repugs did not believe in helping anyone and they still don't. They thought big business would help but they were too cheap to open their moth-eaten purese.

I don't think the American people will stand for it. I have already told my Congresspersons and Senators that this is exactly what I think chimp is planning and he should be stopped.
Our "strategery" should be to just flat out tell them that if they ever shoot a rocket with an atomic warhead at any nation other than their own they will immediately, and without fail, be returned to the stone age and no human habitation will be possible throughout Iran for 1,000 years. I think that would be a clear statement. I think Clinton gave them a similar ultimatum after they were behind the blowing up of an embassy in Africa. They immediately classified his ultimatum. I like to think that it was similar to my suggested ultimatum because we did not have another peep out of them until chimp started calling them the axis of evil.
aw geez benji, you're going to be called back into the principal's office, again.
why are you shouting, honey? are you upset?

Get to your state's employment and training center, ASAP! Keep your head up, buddy. Maybe you can get some help. At the very least, go find out if there is any available through WIA. Also, try indeed.com to see what kind of jobs are around. You type in your zip code.
My heart goes out to you, Fred. Don't give up!!
THE REPUBLICANS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR SUPPORTING SUCH AN IDIOTIC GROUP OF CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS AND PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATIONS.
THIS REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED GOVERNMENT IS A SHAMBLES.
THE REPUBLICANS SPEND SO MUCH TIME TRYING TO MANIPULATE THE MARKET FORCES FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL GAIN...
THEY NEVER SPEND ANY TIME UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF GOVERNANCE.
Someone please tell me. Was it EVER EVER EVER this BAD???? (if so then I'm glad I missed it)

NO, NOT IN MY LIFETIME------>It was NEVER this bad!
BUSH IS AN ARROGANT, BIG MOUTH, WANNA BE TOUGH GUY, WITH A SILVER SPOON IN HIS MOUTH, BOOB.
WHY IS CONDOLEEZA RICE TELLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS GOING TO DO ABOUT IRAN?
THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION HAS A HISTORY OF DOING WHAT EVER IT WANTS, EVEN IF IT MAKES EVERYTHING WORSE THAN IT WAS IF THEY HADN'T DONE ANYTHING AT ALL.
IS CONDALEEZA RICE ASKING FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OR IS SHE JUST TRYING TO TELL US HOW THINGS ARE GOING TO BE LIKE IT OR NOT?
Hey Benji, DumpW,dk2, Dawnie, all good Dems,
You know Benji, i heard he was born with a silver foot in his mouth....just like his "read my lips" dad....
SINCE THE FIRST DAY CONDALEEZA RICE WAS IN OFFICE...
SHE HAS NOT SAID ONE THING ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST THAT EVER TURNED OUT RIGHT.
EVERYTHING SHE HAS SUPPORTED ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST HAS BEEN A DISASTER.
They say music can soothe the savage soul. With Republicans a brick upside the head is much quicker.
I think I'm just kidding. :)
And Condi with her team of "Vulcans" taught w foreign policy....
IT WILL TAKE GENERATIONS OF AMERICANS FOR THE REPUBLICANS TO EVER LIVE DOWN THE IDIOTIC DECISIONS THIS REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION AND ITS REPUBLICAN CONGRESS WITH ITS REPUBLICAN SUPREME COURT HAS MADE IN THE PAST SIX YEARS.
FWIW, I don't believe anyone else on this blog would compare your rants to the Turner Diaries. They would be wrong. Posted by BlueinIdaho on May 31, 2006 at 03:01 PM
Sometime back "Driftwood" stated "Down here in Texas we kicked the Mexican's ass's once, and we'll do it again!" I took that as a subtle call for an "Ethnic cleansing war" just like the one advocated in the Turner Diaries" Now in addition to that, we got these guys talking about "A coming 'showdown' between Christianity and Islam". I call 'em as I see 'em.
ANYONE EITHER BRAVE ENOUGH OR STUPID ENOUGH TO CALL HIMSELF/HERSELF A REPUBLICAN IS A...

Good Evening Friends and Neighbors,
What is more damaging to the security of Americans, American Veterans and families?
1) Bush administration telling US the people at the VA lost almost 30 million personal information and will not do anything to secure the welfare of these people. The policy is to have American that became victims of identity thieft check their own accounts for improper use and report it to the Bush administration. Basically the bush administration is going to victimize the American Veterans for the secound time.
2) Bush administrations boarder security policy or lack of.
3) Whore and hookers at Defense department and CIA contract negotiations.
4) Bush administrations National Pandemic Flu policy, "America you are screwed and on your own!"
5) Bush administrations coordinated lie about shortage of gas and oil supply is causing price hikes at the pump the same week the government released data to show there is excess gas in inventory.
6) Republican support to cut spending on security this week at the same time this administration support tax cut to the top 5% of americans and a bridge to no where.
7) FEMA mobile home was a $280 million dollar junk yard. These will go on fire sale for those religious nut cases who claimed it was promised to them by bush and not for victims of Katrina and Rita.
8) FEMA driving around with ice on the highway to no where. This used up the inventory of truck drivers and supplies of ice in the country and cost the American public $200 million.
9) $46 trillion dollar debt
Trillions dollar debt in social security up 20-30% since bush is in office, increase in Medicare deficit spending and unfunded mandates, foriegn debt. All of these are up 20-30-40% since bush got into office.
10) Export of jobs out of this country by the bush administration and pug congress.
So, how do these issue compare with lying about President Carter and Clinton? Is this the national agenda for the republican party to slam former presidents and not do the work the public is demanding?
Is this the national agenda for the republican party to slam former presidents and not do the work the public is demanding?

uhhh, yes?
I love Conyers, too. He reminds me on one of my uncles. But he doesn't have the power to stop them right now.

Senselessbrainer has not permitted the minority caucus of the Senate Judiciary committee to bring one thing to the floor. He just unplugs the mike and turns out the lights. FYI, putting ANY faith in that fat pig is worse than trusting Hastart.
The librarians spoke out. That is how we knew what they were doing in the first place. NO ONE paid a bit of attention to the story last night. I made that point once and I'll make it again. We lost our freedom a long time ago, Sandy.
As for when the sh*t comes down, which it probably will, who do you think the POLICE will protect? The poor?
This election is critical. I will wait until November to unravel. I will hope and continue to work my tail off to GOTV and organize. We have another club and another fundraiser coming up.
If they vote for reThugs again, I don't know what I'll do.
Domingo
Try seeing with your eyes open. Texas did defeat the Mexican army (Gen. Santa Anna) at San Jacinto in 1835. After the outright murder of civilians, Santa Anna, in exchange for his life, signed over Texas and it became a republic.
The quote you reference was if the La Reconquista movement moved ahead with their agenda of repatriating Texas, NM, Arizona, California, Nevada, and Colorado back into the country of Mexico. After all, if such a large percentage of Mexican nationals are coming here because of repression by the government then why would we wish to become part of Mexico?
Once again I will state, we support legal immigration while opposing illegal immigration. The cost for your agenda will remove badly needed funding for elderly and poor Americans and give it to illegal immigrants. You support amnesty for SS fraud and could seem to care less about whether your agenda is sustainable.
It was not Driftwood or the gang who started the talk about "A coming 'showdown' between Christianity and Islam"
It was Osmama bin Laden, Al-Queeda, and the religious right who proclaimed the coming show down.
And quite frankly, I could care less whether you like my opinion or not. At least I look at the issue from a pragmatic viewpoint while you choose blind emotion void of reality.
THE REPUBLICANS THINK THEY CAN GET AMERICA TO FORGET ABOUT HOW PHUCKED UP THE MIDDLE EAST BY SELLING THE IMMIGRATION CARD.
THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION TRIED TO REFOCUS AMERICA ON THE GAY MARRIAGE ISSUE.
ANYONE WHO CARES ABOUT THE GAY MARRIAGE ISSUE IN A TIME OF WAR MUST BE RETARDED.
WHO CARES WHO GETS MARRIED TO WHO WHEN THERE IS A WAR THAT THE REPUBLICANS STARTED IN IRAQ AND THERE ARE DAILY OCCURENCES OF TERRORIST KILLINGS.
THE REASON WHY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS AGREEING TO TALKS WITH IRAN IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CHOICE.
THEY PUT AMERICA IN THIS POSITION AND AMERICA'S CHILDREN ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
o for the love of Pete...Bruno and Domingo
give your freakin' ragin' hormones a rest and fight the other guys and not each other! this is a very unpleasant and pointless exercise.
we lost the A-team a long time ago because of the crapfest such as this developing here tonight.
this looks more like Freeper village than our beloved blog.
take a moment, a deep breath and redirect, please.
you are all much too intelligent...
I saw DeeDee on with Chris M.. I think it was wrong for Chris to express his opinion the democrats do not have a policy on Iraq.
Chris,
Do you remember who you voted into office?
Do you know who is running the white house?
Do you know who is running the senate?
Do you know who is running the house?
Do you know who is running the justice?
And you say Democrat have no effective policy?
The most rediculus argument by the republican is to suggest the democrats do not have a plan.
That's like suggesting the pedestrians on the side walk two blocks away had anything to do with a drunk on the freeway speeding and causing an accident.
Well, mister pedestrian, you have no idea on how to stop the car from getting into an accident!
No kidding, dumb idiot, we were two blocks away and not driving the car!!!

alright no more caps.
Benji,
Just so you know--I have never complained to the moderator and I've been here a long time. Not from the beginning, but almost as long as Jen.
I'm going to give it a few, and then I'm going to email Tracy. Stop the shouting. Take your meds. Whatever.
Thank you, Benji. I appreciate it.
We have a purpose here. I like it when you focus on that--very much!
Hi, everyone.
Dawn,
I've been thinking about your earlier question. I think it couldn't get any worse than the civil war.
We visited the Lincoln Library and Museum last week. There was this map that showed the progress of the war and the number of dead mounting. It went on and on; battle after battle. One side would gain ground and then lose it. It was horrible to see graphicly the futility of all that killing...the numbers growing into the hundreds of thousands.
Sherman's push to the sea almost made me cry. The Confedertes didn't have a chance as you saw the South cut in half. You could almost feel their heart break.
I come from a border state, Missouri. We had a few battles but nothing like what went on over and over again along that dividing line. No wonder there is still resentment in some places....and pride. The South didn't lose; they just couldn't take it any longer. It could have just as easily been the North that surrendered. No wonder Lincoln almost went mad.
We all lost something when that war ended. You'd think after such a brutal lesson in man's inhumanity towards man, all future American presidents would have more respect for the lives and fortunes of their troops.
To start a war knowing full well that it is for some other reason than abject survival after an attack by a distinct agressor is a sin that no god will easily forgive. Bush could have at least attacked the right country and spared the civilians this continuing occupation.
Why can't we let this thing go and let those people decide their own fate? Just to save face after being proven wrong about the WMD, we continue to make a bad situation worse?
Einstein said it best: Stupidity is making the same mistake over and over again and expecting a different outcome.
Elective wars? What next? Elective suicide in Iran? We already did that once...on our own soil.
About that post of the anti-Bush writing on a gas pump and that post by dogbroke this morning, here's an article I read in the paper yesterday. The part that made me hesitate was were it said San Diego had the Highest Gas Prices in the country. I'm going down there in a few weeks. BTW, Bush is causing these high gas prices with all this sabre rattling against Iran. He freaking out the oil traders, and I think he knows it.
As gas prices rise, so do tempers.
Gas station clerks may be bearing the brunt of drivers' frustrations.
LOS ANGELES – Tempers are rising along with gas prices. Gas stations across the country report that drivers are taking out their gas rage against big oil by yelling at clerks and cashiers and sometimes driving off without paying.
"Everyone is suffering at the same time," said Sam Shirazie, a clerk at a Chevron station east of downtown Los Angeles.
Steve Grosse is trying humor to defuse tempers. At his Shell station in Manhattan Beach, he replaced the price of gas with the words "arm," "leg" and "first born."
In Los Angeles, Chevron station co-owner Anthony Sinai has started giving free sodas to customers who pump $20 worth of gas. He wants to avoid a repeat of an incident last year when an upset customer threw a cup of coffee at a female clerk and knocked over display items.
Police in Los Angeles and San Diego - the city with the highest gas prices in the nation - haven't noticed any violent trends toward gas station workers.

Who cares who marries who anyway?
the republicans have no policy on iraq.
the republicans are incompetent about the middle east in general, with the least amount of competence regarding iraq.
Hey Ya'll,
I'm sorry you may have missed Larry King earlier. The Dixie Chicks were on! They said it was a live show but I'm not sure if it was a rerun of a LIVE show or not. It was Grrrrrreat!
It must have been new cuz they were talking about their latest album being number ONE!! And aside from the BOOB Toby (wussy) Keith and Reba Macncheese the rest of the country is behind the Chicks in a big old way!!!
It almost had me in tears with all the positive call ins. My MOM even stayed up and watched it. I had to give her a quick run down of what exactly happened with Natalie but I couldn't pull myself away to alert you all to watch it. I'm really sorry! Maybe it will be on a rerun later?
Anyway it was really inspiring! I love the CHICKS!! I'm gonna buy the CD! And I haven't bought a CD in a decade!! (or close) I usually do MP3s or radio. That's got to mean something!
:-D
Righteous Dudettes!
I think it was wrong for Chris to express his opinion the democrats do not have a policy on Iraq.
Posted by HybridFuel on May 31, 2006 at 10:28 PM
I'm pretty sure most of us think it's wrong for Chris Matthews to express any opinion whatsoever, given his penchant for being a hardballless wonder.
Okay, now I have a proposal for the creative among us. The reThugs have been sending bricks to their congressional representatives to let them know they want border security.
Anyone want to brainstorm on what we could do to make a statement? Do you remember when MyDD asked people to send Helen Thomas roses? or when we sent roses to Barbara Boxer?
Just something to consider, as a way to show unity. There's a concept for Democrats, huh--UNITY! Only not roses...something else. Something, something....
any ideas?
Yeah, Dawnie...saw the Chicks. Speaking of marriage....can I please marry them? Pretty please? I really mean all three of them. :D
the republicans are complete losers when it comes to iraq.
they are just too proud and arrogant to admit to their mistakes.
now that they have completely lost all crediblity throughout the planet...
the republicans are saying they will talk with iran because they have used up all of their political clout...
and the swagger never lived up to the hype.
So chris,
You are telling me the rich educated republicans are in trouble because they are incompetent in running the nation and you want to ask a bunch of blue collar labor working democrats how to solve the nations problems because the republicans are bankrupt of ideas? Is this effectively what you are asking of the democrats?
The richest, most well educated, previlaged republicans are bankrupt of ideas and chris wants ideas from blue collar democrats on how to solve the international crisis, Iraq, Mexico, Iran, North Korea, etc..
Chris Mathews, please vote "Democrat" if you want blue collar workers ideas on how to fix these issues. We are the true americans and will always put the nation before private interest.
i can't believe how many stupid republicans there really are.
republicans can't figure it out.
they need a texas snake oil salesman with a bible in one hand and an m-16 in the other to convince them that voting republican is in some way not synonomous with ignorant and brainwashed.
Posted by SandyH on May 31, 2006 at 10:30 PM
Sandy,
Good post. What we have effectively done is to create a civil war in Iraq. I remember telling my brother and my dad that it was inevitable. Now Afghanistan is headed for the same thing. The Taliban is back and mad as hell. Jihad is something we cannot comprehend. Our culture, our lifestyle make us totally unprepared to face the consequences and meet their level of commitment.
And you're right. I lived in the deep south for over twenty years. It is not forgiven.
Posted by fade2bluz on May 31, 2006 at 10:22 PM
I can't argue with you on that one. I'd take Conyers any day over Sennenbrener. Let's make sure he gets control of that committee when we take back Congress.
fade, I've come to the conclusion that life is just a battle for most men. They don't even care who wins. Better a war of words than the actual deed?
Snap out of it, guys. Give it a rest. I'm sick of thinking about war and rumors of war and talking about war. Make peace and be done with it.
Good night.
Righteous Dudettes!

Indeed. They played a Vote for Change concert at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis with James Taylor. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Have you seen the Time magazine piece on them. He writes that Natalie was born with her middle finger up--@sshole! I am so glad they're number one!!

Sorry fade2bluz, a fellow's got to answer the lies.
The cost for your agenda will remove badly needed funding for elderly and poor Americans and give it to illegal immigrants. You support amnesty for SS fraud and could seem to care less about whether your agenda is sustainable. Posted by Bruno
Want to explain to me how you "know" so much about what "my agenda" is and what "I support". You some kind of a mind reader or something?
Speaking of unity, fade...does this look like a list of issues you think we should be more concerned with than gun control, gay marriage, etc.?
In our opinion, Crucial Issues include: Global terrorism, our national debt, our dependence on foreign oil, the emergence of India and China as strategic competitors and/or allies, nuclear proliferation, global climate change, the corruption of Washington’s lobbying system, the education of our young, the health care of all, and the disappearance of the American Dream for so many of our people.

agree
Sandy - I thought for quite a while that this country might split down the middle over this RED BLUE thing. Soooo glad it's finally changing!
Benji - I SCREAM SOMETIMES TOO!!!!! :-]
Domingo - I understand what you are talking about. I appreciate your posts. Regardless of what others may say. I LIKE a passionate believer in all things. Even though I guess you can get rough. Bruno calls you names. That always infuriates me. It's childish. You may infer something but so freaking what????
at least you don't go grab some FAKE name and come back here to badger and harass! (like some do) and you don't act all prissy either. Which I personally appreciate.
I don't always agree with you but I don't have to. And you've never asked me to. Thanks.
Everyone,
I think it is time to turn that statement into an asset,
When republicans ask democrats for ideas on how to solve the Iraq or National Security issue;
Ask them if this is an admission the weathest, most well educated, privilaged religious right is completely bankrupt of ideas and need the blue collar democrats to solve the problems.
Just ask them to vote "Democrat", we have historically solve all the problems and we will solve them again. Our ideas are our ideas, vote us into office and we will fix it.
It's nice of the republicans to admit they cannot met the expectations of their bragging; as a blue collar democrat, we are not as well educated, we are not as wealthy; but we solve problems. It's very comforting the republicans admitting to over bragging and is bankrupt of ideas and incompetent to run the government.
Thank you for your admission and vote of confidence, VOTE DEMOCRAT"!
Posted by Domingo on May 31, 2006 at 10:30 PM
Thanx, Domingo. Amazing that there will be a new category of "gas price rage" and what is very scary--people don't realize who gets rich off these prices.
I'm an old woman and I've always preferred non-fiction, did without television most of my life. My choice. Therefore, I am never fully prepared to accept how little folks know about the things that really matter.
We had discussions about politics at the dinner table when I was a kid. I never knew how fortunate I was. I do, now.
evenin' all...was busy readin' the "Dear Mr President" thread and postin'
great to be here in the blog of the free...hey fade, ya sound up beat! yahooooooo.

LMAO
Okay, now I have a proposal for the creative among us. The reThugs have been sending bricks to their congressional representatives to let them know they want border security.
Anyone want to brainstorm on what we could do to make a statement?
Maybe Pork Barrels or send them birth certificates with a bill attached. Write on the Bill (indicating the massive debts they rang up) STOP THE INSANITY
My advice to anyone who encounter a pug question on how to solve....
Just tell them, "Thank you for admitting the wealthest, well educated, religious right republicans are bankrupt of ideas and are incompetent in running the government. Thank you for your confidence in me to ask for a solution. Please vote Democrat and we will solve the problem."
As the pugs will tell you time and again,"The president do not have to explain his decisions. He is the "Decider."
Stop asking for the blue collared democrat's answers to your problem. Crying on our shoulders is not a leadership skill.
Posted by fade2bluz on May 31, 2006 at 10:42 PM
I saw them on MTV I think with James Taylor.
They have a haunting harmony together. I've always felt that way but now that they are standing up politically, can't help but love them more.
the republicans are saying they will talk with iran because they have used up all of their political clout...
Benji,
they'll need a credit card. and, conniving condi is a real fraud too. she knew that an offer to iran with conditions would be rejected. there was no diplomacy there. this is a diversion to keep the crap from iraq from spilling from the front pages onto the back pages, including the editorials. and overseas, the iranian leader is not the perceived boogie man...you get one guess who it is.
Dawnie, to tell you the truth, I really don't give a rat's @$$ what names he calls me, I don't like him passing himself off as an expert on what "my agenda" is and what "I support" and all the while everything he accuses me of is lies he just made up out of thin air. And you know, I remember when Sally/Steve under one of his names told you to "go spread your legs and screw some wetback like your mother did nine months before you were born", and people bitched because I stuck up for you and exchanged words with him over that. I think a few folks around here have their priorities mixed up.
Everyone should review what the president "The Apologizer" was apologizing about.
1) as bush, “I should not have used words like “Wanted Dead or Alive!” and “Mission Accomplished”
That’s not an apology! That an admission of using the wrong propaganda message and it was a bragging rights that you could not live up to.
So what does everyone think of this Bobby Kennedy article that will be in Rolling Stone tomorrow?

as soon as I get me one of those internet diplomas that lets me marry folks, I'll call em up and see if they wanna get hitched (wait they're already married) oops!
seriously? The M word scares me S&^tless.
The people they call ministers these days is really sad. Internet notaries, Internet Preachers, Diplomas from the Internet College of what EVER!!!
I worked for a few Priests in my day. They got their collars the hard way. Years of seminary and building up their "flock" so to speak.
Of which I was never one. Only worked for them. Learned a lot though.
sorry ramblin here........ lateeee!
Dawn,
James Taylor invited them to tour with him after they said the bad thing. It was very political and has been going on for about four years now, I think. Maybe more.
I loved it when Taylor said, "I'm voting for the smart one."
Just something to consider, as a way to show unity.
Curious thing to read, Unity. You looking for unity here at the DNC blog. Are you suggesting that we unite? In what regard?
Murtha speaks from the heart and I certainly did not see any unity from the Democratic Leadership. They left him alone. They fled for the hills, guarding their precious elections.
Hi A1
How are you doin'? I'm about to cash in, but it's always nice to see you.

Yes, let's tell Iran "Hey, we'll negotiate, just as soon as you give us everything we want...What do you mean there would be nothing left to negotiate about then? There's still which shades of red, white and blue to use to redo your flag!"
Posted by PeppermintLizzy on May 31, 2006 at 11:06 PM
very true!!! They don't seem to want to support X service men or women when push comes to shove.
Lizzy,
I should think you know full well that the roots grow in the ground. Under the ground. I don't need any leader to tell me what's important to me. They have their priorities and I understand why they are reluctant to speak out. I don't agree, but nothing I say here will change that.
Are you saying the war is the issue that is most important to you? For Fred, it was the price of gas. Survival, now. The immigration bricks can certainly be trumped by the creative Democratic underground of the blogosphere.
Then again, maybe not. Maybe I'll just do another freeway blogger sign.
Bruno has left the building for tonight. That leaves just little ole me to defend the integrity of the Driftwood gang (I like that title).
Dawnie – Bruno has the right to set the record straight. Domingo has called us many names (racist, bigot, etc.) yet you critize Bruno and pretend Domingo did nothing to provoke. Where’s the justice in that?
I would like to change the course for now.
Pledge to Resist
fade,
cashing out while you're upbeat...sounds like sum winnin' hand... ok, well let me ante up to this blog...what'cha all playing? 21? 21 more wars before kingbush is impeached? 5 card stud (bush, cheney, rum, rove, and wanna be condi)...
Posted by fade2bluz on May 31, 2006 at 11:12 PM
I agree there's nothing you personally can probably do about it but the way you just give IN TO THEM sounds dreadfully like you are pandering
please tell me you are not?
there's not any excuse for not being TRUE to your beliefs! Which is probably why W won twice. Cuz at the very very least he stuck up for himself.
AS evil as he is. HE wasn't afraid to say - touch chit!
too bad his agenda and intelligence was OFF the mark (way off)
They don't seem to want to support X service men or women when push comes to shove.

The Veterans Report from Bureau of Labor Statistics came out today, detailing employment statistics on vets. Interestingly, all vets except 18-24 year olds have lower unemployment rates than the population at large. It's an intersting report. I read it for work, but I'll link it if you're interested.
Dawn,
W did not get "elected" because he was honest, true or noble. He is a puppet with words piped in through a wire into his ear. He is an idiot.
While we would love to see our Democrats kick ass (and mine--Durbin and Obama do!) it is sheer foolhardiness to think that there is anything more important than getting our majority in the Congress.
Then, we fight. Then, we clean house and get the DINOs outta there. But there has never been a time in my over fifty years when we needed party unity the way we do now. Never.

but the way he presented himself to the public was (of course a lie) but he was ....... ok call it stubborn then........ it just appeared that he was positive in what he SAID he felt.
I never bought it but the GP did. That's all I was saying. THE DLC panders and coddles......... that's my impression of them. ONly my impression. I think they are all rich power junkies playing some big old game of chance and not often concerned with us little guys.
but of course they do care 100 times more than ANY pug. Still I'm not giving them any awards. They don't KNOW how to defend their OWN like they should.

FOR CALIFORNIA, POETIC JUSTICE
POWER FAILURE:
Enron bosses convicted but still off the hook for fleecing state.
Enron's well-documented rigging of California electricity prices during the worst of the energy crisis was never a factor during Lay's and Skilling's trial, which resulted Thursday in a raft of convictions on fraud and conspiracy charges.
Instead, prosecutors focused exclusively on the financial misdeeds -- the offshore accounts and cooked books -- that caused the collapse of what was once the nation's seventh-largest company. Thousands of employees lost their life's savings and creditors were left scrambling to collect pennies for every dollar owed.
"I would vastly prefer that they were convicted for their crimes in California," said former Gov. Gray Davis, who was handed his hat by California voters in the 2003 recall election largely because of the energy crisis. "But I take solace that they'll be going to jail for a long time."
Remember "Death Star"? That was Enron's name for a program in which the company billed Californians to relieve congestion on the power grid during threats of blackouts. In reality, there wasn't any congestion, and Enron wasn't providing any relief.
Another memo outlined Enron's "Fat Boy" strategy, by which the company's traders bought electricity in California during the worst of the state's shortages and sold it elsewhere for more than they could have under California's price caps.
And who could forget "Ricochet"? That was the name Enron gave to its system of buying juice in California, selling it outside the state, buying it back and then reselling it to California at huge markups to the original price.

Are you saying the war is the issue that is most important to you?
YES!
We got boys dying over their and for what? Lies and oil.
We got boys shooting innocent civilians and why? Because they are doing 2 or 3 tours and they have seen their buddies killed by IED's.
DawnieI am not at all used to conversations that are held in TRIO! Are your ideas so weak that you need constant back up? I think that's (forget it I won't call names) When you come here to be a speaker for you SELF w/out needing company .. we'll talk.
I'm not sure what you mean. Wouldn't you consider your defense of Domingo (right or wrong) a "conversation held in trio?" As for "weak" I will respectfully disagree.
I guess you didn't like the Pledge to Resist as a way to move past this.
The Veterans Report from Bureau of Labor Statistics came out today, detailing employment statistics on vets. Interestingly, all vets except 18-24 year olds have lower unemployment rates than the population at large. It's an intersting report. I read it for work, but I'll link it if you're interested.

Please not cash based accounting is illegal for corporation in USA that issue bonds or purchase bonds and securities.

Dawnie,
I couldn't agree with you more! The DLC is not what I embrace about the party. The party is the people, and that is what matters to me. We have a lot more power than we exercise.
YOU will be great on the phones. And don't think you need money to make those calls, because you have a sponsor. It's some of the most rewarding work you'll ever do. I talked to some of the most astounding human beings, well into their eighties, using walkers to get to the polls on foot.
They've been Democrats all their lives. So have I. And one minute before I die, I want to switch parties so there will be one less reThuglican left.
Dawnie – Bruno has the right to set the record straight. Domingo has called us many names (racist, bigot, etc.) yet you critize Bruno and pretend Domingo did nothing to provoke. Where’s the justice in that? Posted by ---------------------- on May 31, 2006 at 11:14 PM

I meannnnnnnnnn Domingo and I don't call each other ahead of time and go over what people say and make plans to continue the "agenda" later. I will defend him and vice versa when / if we choose for no other reasons.
I think YOU 2/3 or maybe only ONE in the end have a REAL agenda. Perhaps not. Regardless I'm only stating my point that I don't do a TAG TEAM routine! It's WEAK!
FADE - I meant they don't support X vets running for or standing UP for our side.
It seems to me HOWARD and his crew are the only ones doing that.
I don't get into the money thing. That's always changing.
there has never been a time in my over fifty years when we needed party unity the way we do now. Never.
I absolutely and entirely agree. We must work together or there may be no viable future.
Have you contacted your represenatives to let them know your views?
You bet I have. And Fade, I don't pose the question as an attack on YOU. I just ask it to the blog. Over the weekend there was a great post about what the best strategy would be for the Democrats. I cannot find it right now, but I will and post it.
It stated that the Democrats, mean Senatorial and Congressional needed to focus strictly on the failures both in Iraq and now in Afghanistan.

Go back and search you own posts. For starters, attempting to link us to the dogma of the Turner Diaries. During the debates on amnesty you more than once called Driftwood and Tom racist. The list goes on.
I guess when you are void of substance it's hard to remember what you post. But don't worry, everyday Driftwood prints out this blog for a book he's writing to go with a documentary we'll shoot when the election gets closer. You can read and see your own words then.

I love to debate here. I love to read the news here. I have a differing opinion about intrusive calls to people. Same with door knocking.
I would stand up at some demonstration or meeting and talk for hours about a specific democrat or issue I have no fear of public speaking but I don't do intrusive things at doors or on phones and i hate when it happens to me. That's probably why I don't do it to others.

tylinCA,
Well, if this does not work politically, I've been told by many friends that US dollar goes a long way in Mexico. I noticed couple of people I knew make the trip to sunny Mexico. The bought a 2600-2800 square ft home made of reinforced adobe for $150,000.00, with 10 ft ceilings, tiled floor, iron gates, modern kitchen and bathroom all custom fitted with ornate tiles. They tell me a $1000.00 for all expenses a month can get you two maids to help with cleaning and cooking around the house, plus everything you ever needed or could eat!
If things gets worse here politically than it might be better to move south onto a gated estate for much less cost of living!
People struggle to live on $1000.00 per month in cities of USA. In Mexico you can live like a king.
I had an engineer who was sent $500.00 to $600.00 a month to Columbian in-laws. They needed the money to build a house needed living expenses some 15 years ago. When he went visited, his in-laws had built two houses, 2500 and 3000 sq ft fully furnished with tiled court yard, fountains and a completely enclosed adobe fenced compound!!!
I'm truly trying to figure out what is it that we are fighting for? The American Way has turned into a bastardized version of "Rip Off American Middle Class!" It a free-for-all!
They may not have the best medical care; but for the kind of money that barely scrape by in the cities for a living can get you people employed to help one around the house, cook, clean, do yard work and remodel around the house. The internet and TV can keep one posted on the bad news. It might be a better way to live and die. Among friends, family and people who truly adores ones presence.
I am tempted!
I'll give you the last word tonight Domingo. Whatever makes you fell good doesn't cause me to feel bad.
Dawnie
We are doing the same on the Repub blog. Three of our staff were hard core Repugs who are seriously disenchanted with the Bush doctrine of promoting global insanity. As Repugs, they too are attacked by their own party for taking Bush to task.
As for work. Production is what we do. Sometimes the ground work is slow and tedious and challenges our own perspectives. The fun part comes when it all starts to come together for the finished product.
We don't bait bloggers for the sake of argument but to to understand how well a position is thoughtout. Having said that, I think I can speak for the Driftwood gang that we appreciate bloggers fighting relentlessly to improve the world for all of us.

This business of claiming that "colored people" are stealing all the Whites folks tax money is a lie started by Ronald Reagan in the early sixties when JFK and LBJ passed the voting rights act and the civil rights act. That's when the Republican backlash started with Goldwater's run in 1964 and Reagan's campaigning on his behalf. Man, they just hated seeing Blacks be given any rights so ever. They've been repeating that line for over forty years now. The truth is Blacks, Hispanics and whatever other group they want to accuse of this are paying their damn money into the system. They're not taking any White folks money, no matter how much they squak about it. They say Hispanics don't pay any taxes (a lie) and cost the govenment a fortune. The fact is, the government takes in 100 times more from them than it spends on them. Do you know what the government do when it gets money that doesn't match up with a valid ID? It keeps it. They say the government took in six billion that way last year. How much do "the Driftwood boys" keep saying they cost in unpaid medical bills? 300 million? They may tell you how they're costing, but they'll never tell you how much they're paying in.
You're right but don't bring it out in the open. They'll call you a racist for calling them racists.LOL
Yep, that's what they're trained to do. When they get called racist, they yell, "No! you're the racist! You are! It's you who's the racist! Not me!", ten times louder. Here an article about how the minute men operate.
For two consecutive Fridays in March, Burciaga says the Minutemen picketed her business, carrying signs calling her a "racist" and "Nazi," shouting at clients, and harassing people by shining flashlights in their faces.
"We're not going to tolerate racists running for political office without them accounting for their racism," says Gilchrist. "More than that, it was her stand against the rule of law. Who wants an anarchist running for City Council where laws are neither respected nor encouraged?"

Dixie Chicks Back At Number 1 On Charts(May 31, 2006)--The Dixie Chicks appear to be more popular than the president these days.
President Bush's approval rating has plummeted, but the Chicks are on top of the pop and country charts with their first album since publicly criticizing Bush three years ago.
They did it without the support of country radio, which largely ignored the Dixie Chicks after lead singer Natalie Maines told a London audience in 2003 that the group was ashamed Mr. Bush was from their home state of Texas.
The new album, "Taking the Long Way," took the Number One spot Wednesday on the country albums chart and the Billboard 200 overall chart, which are based on sales rather than radio airplay.
There were 526,000 units sold in its first week.
The new album hit stores May 23. Keith Olbermann found out that O'Reilly sucked up to the Dixie Chicks after he trashed them previously.http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/05/24.html#a8411 In Defense Of The Dixie Chicks - And Responses

I have lived in the South all my life (49 years) and I have never been ashamed of southern folks as I am today. What happened to freedom of speech? How come some people can say whatever they want, but if someone else speaks the truth or what is in their heart they get blacklisted and their life threatened?
So, my solution is to buy CDs and not listen to the one-sided radio stations, which means I won't buy products advertised by their sponsors". When Ronald Reagan signed the amnesty bill in 1987, there were over 30 some previsions in the bill, one of which was “employer sanctions”. None of the previsions other than the amnesty was ever put into place. So now, when Junior got up on TV last week he says, “You can’t blame the employers, the immigrants have too good of fake IDs”. He just won’t touch the “poor” employers. “Driftwood” calls the immigrants “dirty, un-educated, and dumb. Now how do people so damn “dumb” fool the greatest technology on earth? The answer is “they don’t”. So now Junior says we need bio-metric IDs to foil the crafty wetbacks, but you know in the end, it’s “really” for us, and the Repug trolls know it. Divide and conquer, that’s how they work. One group at a time. Some years back in California they passed a smog test law, but only for the big city areas of over a certain population size. The small towns and the rural areas have always been jealous of the big cities and were more than happy to “stick it to them”. A year later the “govmit” decided the small towns needed to have smog tests too, and the rural people said “Sure, get those guys too. What do I care? It don’t affect me.” And the big cities said, “Hey! You made us go through this crap, let’s see how you like it”. Then a year later the “govmit” said “OK, time to spread it to the rest of the state”, and the big cities and the small towns said, “Sure, why should it just be us?” See how they played “two against one” each time until they got ‘em all? That’s just what they’re doing now.
BTW, FOS, did you figure out how to do the "hot links" yet? I can try to explain it for you if not. I try to make the explaination shorter than that smog law post. :D

IMO,
Employers know what they are doing and they know they have a friend in the Whitehouse, who is aiding and abetting the illegal employers!I think there would be very few illegal workers with illegal employers in jail... We don't need to build a wall to stop illegal immigration. Just enforce the law.
"The illegals are here for the jobs. Make it a felony to hire an illegal and start throwing employers behind bars for 5 or 10 years and the practice will stop immediately. The illegal worker can't get hired, they'll go back home.
Once the government starts enforcing the law against illegal employing, the practice will stop. Illegal Immigrants are here for the jobs. Once that practice stops, and they can't get jobs, the illegals will go home"

Past Due Medical Bills from American Citizens will file them as Illegals to get reimbursed. The high cost of Heath Care makes people lie.I'm origionally from Southern California and I know this for a fact.Seriously, I could get a lot of people in trouble too.
If this is true why do allow cheats to steal your tax money? You have a moral obligation to be a whistleblower. Besides, the government will pay you a percentage of what they collect from cheats. And you are protected from retaliation by federal law.

Just a quick drive by. Those Hospitals are actually MAKING money off that so called "free" care.
Chicago area not-for-profit hospitals get three times as much money in tax breaks compared with what they dole out in free health care to poor and uninsured people, an analysis to be unveiled today shows.
As a nationwide debate rages over whether nonprofit hospitals do enough to justify their tax-exempt status, the study by the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability quantifies for the first time what most Cook County hospitals would pay if they were on the tax rolls.
Their finding -- an estimated $326 million in tax breaks -- is too out of whack with the $105 million in free or deeply discounted "charity care" provided by the 21 hospital networks studied, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said.

diana, it's already a felony to hire an illegal but they won't do anything to the companies that do. diana, Mexican President Vicente Fox says "walls" will never work. At the rate we're building one, it'll take a hundred years to finish it anyway. Cheap-labor Republicans don't really want it completed anyhow.
SACRAMENTO — Mexican President Vicente Fox said Thursday that border walls and aggressive policing by themselves won't stop illegal immigration, while pledging that his government would create enough jobs that people won't want to flee to the United States.
Speaking at a joint session of the California Legislature at a time when immigration issues have riveted much of the U.S., Fox said the two nations need to enact "comprehensive reform" and work cooperatively to gain better control of the border.

See, one thing the guy with all these "Driftwood" related names does not understand is, if you take away all "The Brown people's" rights away, all that does is make the employers want to hire them all the more. It makes the problem worse, not better, because believe me, those employers will get 'em, by hook or by crook, even if they have to ship 'em all the way from China. Take the profit motive away by not letting the employers exploit them, threaten them with fines (and jail time if they keep doing it) and that and ONLY that will end it.
FOS, I saw this show on PBS called American Experience about "the Freedmen" after the civil war, and what they said was the free non-slave owning Irish and Scottish didn't like the idea of these new workers competing with them in the work place and "taking away their jobs". See, a lot of the slaves had skills, like barber, tailor, butcher, cooks and so on and when they were freed they went out and got jobs "in the real world". Well these white trash didn't like that at all and they were the main ones who joined the Klu Klux Klan. They went through a lot of work to "terrorize" the "freedmen" back to the plantation.
Domingo I see you haven't bothered to review the links to actual costs I posted a few minutes ago. I don't fully understand your reluctance to be objective, but I guess you have your reasons.
Yeah, I got my reasons. Every link you (or you guys) put up comes from a Right Wing site. Now why is that "Democrat since 1972"?
The Seminoles didn’t start out as an original tribe. It was created by Indian renegades from various tribes and runaway slaves who hid out in the Florida swamps.

Woke up with a nasty headache but glad to catch you online. Are you familiar with the Melungeons? I've been doing some genealogy the last few years and have made some wonderful discoveries. (We might be distant cousins, you and me ;-)
There are many of us who's ancestors were made citizens of this nation "BEFORE" the racist English drafted the 14th Ammendment.
And then you've got suckers like this San Alito who's parents only got here 70 - 80 years ago wanting to jump in front of people like you, (who's people have been here two, three, as many as four hundred years) joining outfits like CAP, Concerned Alumni of Princeton, to "keep out Woman and Blacks". Ain't that a bitch?
Morning RedLetter_Rev. Never heard of the Melungeons before myself. I know about Western tribes the most.
That's almost as bad as the "life long" democrat who kept telling everyone to listen to Lou Dobbs, a "stauch" Republican.
And "They" keep saying they go over to RNC blog "for trolling". I think here is where they're doing the trolling.
Another show I saw on PBS one time was how slavery got started in the English colonies, they didn't have it at first, well they got ahold of some blacks from Spanish and Portugese ships they raided, and when they got back with them they put into "indentured servitude" just like a lot of the poor Whites had to sign themselves up for to work off their debts. It was usually for seven years. One day, two white guys together with one black, they were all friends who worked at the same place, decided to run away. Well, they got caught, and when they went before the judge, the judge gave the two white guys another seven years apiece, and then he gave the black dude "servitude for life". True story. It's the first know case of slavery in the English colonies. A brother couldn't catch a break even then.
Hey William, LTNS,
I'm just finding out about them, myself. The Melungeons are a group of people, now largely Appalachian, that were brought to America by Spain before the English got here. Spain went around gathering up "undesirables" like Jews, Africans, non-Catholics and put them in boats bound for the new world to establish colonies to get the jump on the British. This would have been the early 1500's.
In short, Spain plunked these people in the new world with short supplies and said, "Live, damn you, somehow. We don't much care; you're not among us now."
They intermarried with the Natives some and have passed down a list of common traits... like I've got the big front teeth, head-bump and a rather olive complexion for someone whose ancestry is largely Dutch/German/Scot/Irish. (I'm a tapestry of Americana LOL). The terms "Black Irish" and "Black Cherokee" were used to describe these people when they may not have had a whole lot of either black, Cherokee, or Irish in them.
I think if more folks studied their genealogy, they'd find out that they (and most Americans) aren't as "white" as they'd like to think they are. Me, I prefer to think that I contain a rainbow :-)
Alright, I’m going to make like geese and get the flock outta here. I made the trolls “work for it” to put their hate on the blog tonight.

It actually goes back to a single Dutch judge who had the option of declaring that the people aboard ship in a particular case were to be considered indentured (path to freedom) or slaves (no hope). One incorrect or imprudent decision and here we are still discussing and living with the ripples.
That's what scares me about the current crop in Congress. With all the hype and distraction, few people are discussing the ramifications. Now, there's a group in Congress who want to abrogate the XIV Amendment. The implications are that anyone could be declared a non-citizen at any point in time for any or no reason. Once the corporate elite have divided everyone else out of citizenship, they'll be the only citizens left.
Just look at the last 3 Congress' legislation. It all points that direction.
I think,we should secure the borders, shut down the companies that hire illegals, provide the illegals that are already here with a path to citizenship, and deport any illegals that sneaks into the country after the date that borders are were secure.
Posted by FreedomOfSpeechForProgressiveDemocraticMajority on June 1, 2006 at 04:00 AM I agree! In other words inforce the laws that were already on the books. This issue is getting way out of hand, they are talking about making babies born HERE illegal, that would change the Constitution. This issue has turned into discrimination and it is getting very hurtful to some very decent people who want to live in a country that stands for freedom and is meant to be fair and decent. My family came to this country as immigrants and so did most of the rest of us,so why not treat the Illegal Immigrants with decency and respect "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free," reads the inscription on New York's Statue of Liberty. We should demand that other countries follow similar ethics. Our anger should not be at the poor immigrants, but the countries that neglected them and the employers that exploit foreign workers at the expense of paying fair wages.Immigrant workers should be paid the same as comparable American workers or the "prevailing wage" for that job, whichever is higher. Everyone should stop making Immigrants the scapegoats of GWB's failed policies. We only have an immigration problem because of GWB's buddies demand for cheap labor. IMO, GWBs idea of supply and demand,is whatever his corporate buddies both domestic and foreign' demand!
I think if more folks studied their genealogy, they'd find out that they (and most Americans) aren't as "white" as they'd like to think they are. Me, I prefer to think that I contain a rainbow :-)

Thank You, HeeHee, I really like that thought.
Diana,
Not to forget that Congress wants to remove 31 laws that currently make it a crime for corporations to hire illegals. That's how they operate -- hold the super-citizen corporations blameless and put all the pain on the most defenseless. It's not just racist; it's arrogant and unAmerican. They've made it quite clear that whatever citizenship ANY of us thought we had is tenuous at best.
It is so sad! I hope we can change things, by electing someone who is fair, righteous and peace loving. What a difference that would make!
a very funny and true concept from internet weekly report. and good morning neighbors.
monkey buisness
Good morning, y'all. Today Robert Kennedy's article in Rolling Stone should be available. Have fun and maybe give the FCC a jingle, to let them know we think this is a bad idea, again:
FCC plans relaxation of media ownership rules, watchdogs say
John Byrne
Move to allow more consolidation could come as soon as June 15
[Now they have their majority on the FCC.] Keep on truckin', except for our friend who lost his truck. (You're on my mind, buddy.)
G'morning, everyone.

(that's what I get for going out of town)
I have exciting news I want to share with everyone, but I don't want to put it up on this old thread.
I'll share this instead:
Go speed racer!
Good morning.
My computer is acting strange. It's either a new thread or an earthquake. Catch you all later.
