The Democratic Reunion: Our Next Big Step
Posted by on June 29, 2006 at 11:16 AM
Mark your calendars: July 29th we all take a huge leap forward.
Last year we took the first step. On November 15th we held The National Organizing Kick-off. Across the country Democrats gathered together and starting putting the pieces together to organize in every state, district and precinct.
Then in April we held The Neighbor-to-Neighbor National Organizing Day. It was an unprecedented effort. Six months before an election, holding a 50-State Canvass, and together we talked to over a million voters.
July 29th is going to be bigger and better. July 29th Democrats across the country will once again gather together for The Democratic Reunion.
Governor Dean described The Democratic Reunion in an e-mail he sent today:
The Democratic Reunion will be a series of events across the country, in every single state, that will bring people back into the political process and remind everyone who wants change that we're all in this fight together for the last 100 days.
Your local Democratic Reunion can be a social event like a picnic, a voter contact event like a canvass, or a campaign event with local candidates. The only requirement is that you come together with your neighbors on July 29th and kick off 100 days of work to build your local network and win this November.
It's that simple. We get together and make a commitment to ourselves, to each other and to our Party. With 100 Days left until the election, we will each contact 100 voters. We will take 100 actions to move our country forward. That's what the 50-State Strategy looks like in action.
You can host an event yourself, or you can hook into one already being planned by your state party.
You can invite your friends and family, your neighbors or your co-workers. You can tailor it to sync into your local candidates campaign plan or you can strike out on your own and be the representative for change in your community.
It's up to you.
We've done some of the work to get you started. We have a resource center available and we will be updating and adding to it as we get closer to July 29th.
But the real work is yet to be done and the power to do it lies in precincts across the nation, where ordinary Americans like you and me take on the extraordinary task of building up our Party, leveraging our power to win in November and changing the direction of our country.

Yes!!! This is what we need, something to give us purpose! We are Dem warriors, give us a battle to fight!
IMPEACH CHENEY FIRST!!!
IMPEACH IDIOT-IN-CHIEF NEXT!!
The Democrats have so many people working to put Democrats in the majority. We have people in wheelchairs working the phones and people walking from door to door to get aquainted with the voters so they can push the Democratic Party.
We have even those that have a full time job that have committed themselves to work at least four hours a day to push the Democrats. How can we but win? Republicans don't believe in hard work, they spend their time thinking how they can cheat the system. One person told me, they could cheat enough to beat the hard work of The Grassroots Democrats. I don't believe it. We have so many working that when we put their name in the paper, we are afraid the local press will refuse that much space to us. It seems every Democrat in the district are working hard. We have won the vote of many Republican leaning folks. If you haven't joined the fight it isn't too late. Call your local Party Headquarters. or the local democratic Party.
To MOMOaizo, We, the Democrats are in the minority. We have no power to impeach. The Democrats don't head any of the Chairmanships. so how do you propose we impeach anyone? Majority means that party is in charge. You sound much like a Republican when you want us to try to impeach anyone while we(Democrats) are in the minority. Get your head straight and go to work to change peoples mind to vote Democratic. This will get your name in the paper.
I have great disrespect for the Ct. State Dem Party. They are stubbornly sticking with Lieberman, without even reprimanding him and his War stance. I am working hard for Lamont, and am hosting a house party for him, and have invited a bunch of State Dems to it. Let's see if they even have the curiousity and the gonads to show up.
I do not think I shall join them in this endeavor.
Pam -
So host your own!
That's what great about people-powered politics!
Free,
It is an "unspoken rule" that the first one on a thread puts up the
IMPEACH CHENEY FIRST
IMPEACH MONKEY BOY NEXT
lines....i appreciate your efforts to get dems elected as i am doing what i can locally too. please don't instantly come in to a blog and assume you understand what's going on...OR chase other dems or potential dems away with supercilious talk!
Let's get our digs in and call this 50-state strategy:
"No State Left Behind"
freeforall,
I have no doubt that the democrats will pick up some seats, however it isn't certain they will pick up the house. Any Democratic candidate needs a coherent strategy for national security, in particular Iraq. What is also needed is a strategy that can resist the Republican attacks of being soft on defense and in the case of Iraq, the "cut and run " attack. With this one the Democrats are going to have to fight like hell.I'm not saying the Democrats can take back the house, but seeing as that national security is a major issue to many voters that seem to agree with the adminstration, I don't think they're guaranteed to win back the house.
We here in New Hanover County, NC, are going to use this opportunity for a local precinct organization drive, to really rally local grassroots efforts and push home the 100 day deadline. Proud to be part of it!!

Democrats WILL take back our government if there is any way to acertain there is no Republican FRAUD in the voting.
Democrats ARE strong on defense of the United States. Democrats don't attack countries who have not attacked the United States. Iraq did not attack the United States. Afghanistan did not attack the United States. It was Arabs that attacked the United States and the U.S Republican Government was complicit in that attack: Thoroughly investigate the facts and information on the following site before you arrive at the conclusion that Republicans are strong on defense:
http://septembereleventh.org/
Assuming Republicans are stong on defense is a mistake. Republicans are warring, which is not equivalent to being strong on defense. I can't see how you could possibly come to that conclusion the Republicans are strong on defense when the Republicans are selling our ports to foreign countries.
Democrats defend our country. Republicans start wars to fool people like you into thinking it is for defense. Republicans are for control of the world, not defense of the United States. There IS an exception, the warring "New Conservative DLC Democrats" of the "Republican Light Type" that infiltrated the Democratic Party and cooperate with the Republican RIGHT RED EXTREME to try and accomplish the warring Republican "Project for the New American Century":
http://www.newamericancentury.org/
Republicans only say their strong on defense and undoubtedly you believe them, but REPUBLICANS ARE NOT STRONG ON DEFENSE. Republicans are only strong on war. The Republicans want to keep war going and Republican wars are never based on defense. Republican Wars are all based on making money for the Elite Capitalists at the expense of all who are not Elite Capitalists.

Just in case you may not investigate that 9/11 site, here is one of the parts of the site that is very significant beside the World Trade Center Bldg that wasn't hit by any plane, but was flattened by demolitions anyway:

Pam B:
Good for you. Lamont is who must take Lieberman's place. Apparently there are a lot of Republican Light Democrats in control of the Democratic Party in Connecticut; but if we the people can keep the Republican Light Democrats from controlling the vote their way, Lamont will succeed in spite of them, because the majority of the people know Lieberman doesn't represent them. Lieberman has elected to hold up the RIGHT at the expense of the LEFT and the Republicans through the Republican DLC Lights will do all possible to get Lieberman back into power. Lamont represents democracy whereas Lieberman represents business as usual the Republican Way.
Pam B:
Them's strong words Pilgrim.
Sounds like you are out of cooperation mode.
I haven't had much respect for your positions in the past, but I support you on your bad opinion of Joe Lieberman and your support of Lamont.
Pam B:
Being out of cooperation mode with the Right-Wing Republican EXTREMISTS is a good thing, if indeed you are.
It is not enough, however, to just be out of cooperation mode with the Right-Wing Republican EXTREMISTS to make a proper DFA Democrat that can make a worth while contribution to the DFA Movement, you must also be done with all of the rest of the "bobble headed DLC duopolists" that, as Republicans wearing Democrat suits, have supported the Right-Wing Republican EXTREMIST agenda as DLC duopolists since the time of Nixon, Goldwater and Reagan, from comfortable positions in the Democratic Party disguised as Democrats in name only: because of their democratic cloak have done all that they can do to lead the Democratic Party away from its base, the 70% Majority Population of the Working and Poor Class and Culture, and make the Democratic Party a club for the Professional Class duopolists, and consign the Working and Poor Class and Culture to a limited political role as swing voters without a political party, capable only of voting as swing voters in support of either the agenda of the Professional Class as Democrats, or the agenda of the Elite Capitalist Class as Republicans.
In truth, I expect you, as we get closer and closer to November, to break out into your old tune of supporting the DLC duopolist of the moment, because you and your ilk perceive whoever it is as a winner, rather than someone who supports the interests of the Working and Poor Class and Culture. Do you remember Gore the Winner and Kerry the Winner?
