Resolution honoring boycott of Krug-Mondavi wineries
WHEREAS, the Democratic Party continues its long-standing leadership for civil rights and economic justice and encourages broad advocacy for fair labor standards; and
WHEREAS, the Democratic Party stands in solidarity with farm workers and other laborers who continue to seek just working conditions in the face of oppression; and
WHEREAS, the Krug-Mondavi wineries of Napa, California recently fired hundreds of workers in violation of fair and respectful labor practices, instigating a nationwide boycott of their wines by the United Farm Workers,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) urges Democrats and people of goodwill everywhere to honor the United Farm Workers nationwide boycott of Charles Krug- and C.K. Mondavi-label wines; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the DNC calls upon the Krug-Mondavi leadership to resolve this dispute rapidly and to launch a renewed relationship of mutual respect with farm workers, so laborers who want to work in good faith again can create products all consumers can trust.
