You guys, please let me know about the Great Northeastern Meet-up. I've been quite busy this spring and summer but expect to have more time once my next book project is finished and the kids are off at school in the fall.

Rose, you're right about being sad for months-- years even! But finally the dark clouds seem to be parting.

Esmeralda dear, let's spell it out for the benefit of the city boys et. al.,

NIBBY = nosey, a prurient but not necessarily malicious interest in somebody elses business.
Not to be confused with CRIMINAL, which is always malicious and illegal-- like Bush wiretapping without due process.

That's VERY interesting, seeing as how "Pajamas Media" was one of the biggest right wing MEGA sites in the "innernetz" (which consists of a series of tubes).

They had some "issues" and needed a MAJOR re-organization including dropping some sites.

Atrios and others are all over this. There seems to be a connection with the "Leaker" of the Monica phone calls involved (hint, IT'S HIS MOTHER!!)

So, Tweety using PJ's to smear intelligent people would be like ME calling Tweety "informed"

The irony is, (for lack of a better word),

IRONIC (or a DROIDIAN SLIP).

The key issue for Stover — the war in Iraq. Lamont wants to bring the troops home — so does Stover.

Peter Crane, 36, of New Hartford, said he supports Lamont because the Greenwich businessman proves that "liberal" is not a bad word.

"He is a guy who is not afraid to call himself liberal. The reason this country is so great is because of liberals like FDR and JFK, who wanted to make a better future for our kids."

Toad (that is what I have always called the bitch) can't run due to sore loser law. If Ney withdrawls within a certain 3 day time frame, it will allow the repugs to appoint, therefore not forcing a primary election, which Toad isn't allowed to run in.

Joe's solution is to bring the Young Rethugs in to campaign for him. What a total loser! I hope that the Dems kick him off of the committees he is on now that he is filing as an Independent.
I will urge my two Senators to psh for that.

What nerve Joementum has to call himself an independent democrat.

The Clintons will not support Joe if he runs as an independent. Hillary didn't endorse in the primary. Unless Bill wants to repudiate the party, he cannot endorse an independent.

The Republicans are more likely to give Joe their support, which will create an interesting situation since they already have a candidate on the ballot.

If you see this, I want to thank you for telling me about Ned Lamont.

Tonight has been worth it.

Election officials predicted 40 to 50 percent voter turnout in the primary – a figure considered high for a primary. At 6 p.m. West Hartford recorded 59 percent voter turnout.

GOTV: We've got an election in November!

Lamont says: It is time to fix Bush failed policy. Time to bring our troops home to a hero's welcome.

Congrats to all the hard workers, campaign staff, volunteers and bloggers who have made this victory for the Progressives possibly.

This is big guys. It really is.

Nevermind,

Whether lieberman runs as an Independent.

lieberman would be better off running as a republican.

As an Independent, lieberman will never be a Democrat or a Liberal.

lieberman has said he was a Liberal. He said he was a Democrat.

If lieberman leaves the Democratic Party he will only be saying that he is a...

POLITICAL OPPORTUNIST AND A HYPOCRITE

lieberman can't have it both ways

The Democrats should celebrate.

If there is one thing that we should all learn from this election is that...

Ordinary Americans have a political voice on the Blogosphere!

Fox doesn't understand that bloggers are citizens, and for each blogger supporting Lamont, there were THOuSANDS of citizens who also supported Lamont. The people on the blags are only saying what a lot of people are thinking. I need a Fox Blocker!

Whatever it is, I'm sure it will rhyme. BTW, did you know I HATE Jesse's camera hogging?

This is NED'S night, not just another Jesse Camera "face time" crapola-fest. I wish he would just retire and be done with his 15 minutes.

Who died and made HIM the "voice"?

(And I KNOW who died, but Ralph Abernathy, Coleman Young, Andrew Young and a LOT of others did more for the cause than that media whore / extortionist(!)

In the imortal words of that Great Philosopher, the distinguished B. Bunny:

Joe Lieberman's speech was infuriating. He has done so much to hurt this Party and this Country. If he were truly not satisfied with "the way things were going in this country," he would step aside and allow a new voice to be heard on the floor of the United States Senate. We can conclude that he's happy with the way things are going.

After all, he has no coherent idea as to how to approach Iraq. It seems he supports the President's approach. He suggests that he does not support a blank check for Iraq, and yet he says, "we can't leave too soon." He has yet to offer an approach that is different from Bush's. With the top generals suggesting Iraq is on the brink of civil war, it seems a different approach might prove useful. Perhaps temporarily redeploying our troops (while keeping them nearby) to give the Iraqis a chance to fix their problems? Perhaps they could do a better job than we are currently doing. After all, they better understand their own culture, history, and needs than we do. If things started to deteriorate rapidly, we could always go back. If Joe doesn't like this idea, he should have offered a new idea of his own. After all, the Iraq war has been going on for three years. The United States has been paying him to solve our problems, but he has done nothing to solve them.

Joe has had 18 years to control pork barrel spending. This he has failed to do. He has failed to challenge our trade policies with China. He could suggest we pressure the Chinese to sever the tie between the yuan and the dollar.

He could have pressured the president to close existing loopholes within the Internal Revenue code sections pertaining to the international corporate tax structure, but instead Joe has done nothing about it.

He could have pressured the United States government to increase the student loan cap for graduate students. The cap has been constant for the last 5-6 years. He didn't do this, or if he did, he certainly didn't get results. I believe he just gave a speech about compromising to get results.

Well, Joe compromised and we have a record budget deficit, a record trade deficit, record corruption in congress, a President that has repeatedly usurped legislative powers, a bloody insurgency in Iraq ("low grade civil war" -- whatever the hell "low grade" means), a war in the Middle East, record oil prices...

Joe, I think you've compromised the future of this country enough.

The fist rule of ethics is that people/groups/systems are re-spon-sible for their own actions. E.g., if someone hits you, threatened or not they can make a decision to hit back and how they hit back. With knowledge comes an obligation to fix that that was broken among the innocents. Looking at the current situation in the Mid-east, Hezbollah would be responsible for the damage it has caused by terrorizing Isearal by bombing. Israel would be responsible for the damage it has caused by bombing innocents and infrastructure of the Lebanese.

Now getting to the current fighting. Israel intimates that it values human like and abhors collective punishment. Given the ethical basics, Israel must see that 1,000,000 Lebanese citizens whose life has been hurt and may be ruined it must help make these lives whole. A look at the horrific history of the Jews, the Western world has tried to insure that Israel has not been destroyed. And by and large the West has made this happen. This history in a strange sort of way has helped shape the ethical standards for conflicts.

That said, the fighting wing of Hezbollah has become a terrorist by definition. And by definition, Israel has become a terrorist group by its actions against Lebanese.

So, what am I saying? I'm saying that everyone’s re-sponsible for their own actions. That's the definition of re-spon-sible. Responding when faced w/ something. That means that both Israel and Hezbollah have a lot of fixing to do. It just happens that Israel has done a lot more damage during its response to actions against it.

I am troubled that we have not had a more forceful and simple response to the recent London plot. I suggest:

"This administration has failed to catch Bin Laden and defeat Al Qaeda despite five years, the best military, and one-half trillion dollars."
