Last evening Illinois Governor Blagojevich took a minute to welcome Democrats to the state of Illinois and the City of Chicago as the DNC meeting kicked off.

Watch the video here.

O yeah! Democrats are all about helping people, and they view government as a force for good.

We believe in helping kids get health care.

We believe in helping kids get an education.

We support raising the minimum wage, draft laws that help working people--we're all about helping working people.

That's my governor! His actions support every one of these words. Welcome to the Land of Lincoln, Democrats! Welcome to Chicago!!

The National Democratic Party should remind Mayor Daley that if he wants to still call himself a Democrat he needs to support traditional Democratic ideas like working to improve quaility of life issues for the voting public instead of fighting the efforts of other Democrats to improve quailtiy of life issues.

Mayor Daley needs to focus on the NET EFFECT on jobs that will result from his decision on the "Big Box Bill" on his desk not just on only the "Total Number of New Jobs" his veto could get the city of Chicago! After all, what good can say 2,000 "New Jobs" do if they replace 1,100 better jobs that pay twice as much in total compensation? In this calculation the "New Jobs" result in a technical loss in economic benefit equivalent to 200 of those "New Jobs!"

This is because each one of those 1,100 people that lost a better paying job must now go out and get 2 of those "New Jobs" to replace the one they lost! I ask, is that a "net gain or a net loss?" My answer is that it is a net loss equal to more than 200 jobs. But the social costs are much more as the people that are now working 2 jobs will have less time to spend watching and raising their children! Less time to spend keeping their children out of gangs and other forms of trouble causing activites.

Daley also needs to realize that their are people that work for "quaility retailers" that have not had a net increase in their "real spendable incomes" in over 20 years as those retailers "compete with these big box" retailers.

Amen, Tongueman;
That's just the point. What good is it to have jobe available, if they don't pay at least a poverty-level wage.
I know someone who works for the Department of Health and Human Services here. She tells me that there are families who come in for assistance who are working 2 & 3 jobs, which pay so little that the rise in gas prices, or heating bills, a minor medical emergency, or auto repairs, or needing new tires, puts them into a crisis situation.
A friend who works at a chain was telling me, some of the big box businesses refuse to post hours for their workers, but keep them on a shifting schedule, which causes problems in scheduling who's going to be home with the kids, or what hours the parents can work a second job. She's a single mom, and needs to know when she can be home.
The big boxes don't care, since there enough people who are needing jobs they can just let one person go and hire someone else.
We need more jobs in Montana, but we need more jobs that pay decent wages, not keep people in permanent financial crises. I imagine that it's that way all over the country.

There is a big issue about closing the border now, but closing the border is not the plan. The BUSH ADMINISTRATION is quietly planning the NAFTA SuperHighway. The plan is to build a huge super-highway between Canada and Mexico and open up the border, and even U.S. truck drivers will have to compete with truck drivers from Mexico.

Just type in a Google Search "Canada Mexico SuperHighway" and you will find out all about it. Here are a couple of links:

Here is a picture of the CONSERVATIVE RIGHT-WING SUPER-HIGHWAY PLAN that is expected to start construction in 2007:

http://www.nascocorridor.com/

All the immigration border closing talk is just a farse to distract WE THE PEOPLE from what the RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVES are really doing to destroy WE THE PEOPLE'S llivelihood. I couldn't figure out what, but I have known for a while that the RIGHT was up to something because everytime I would call the telephone company for the past few years, I would always have to press 1 since I don't speak Spanish.

The SBC telephone company is owned by the CONSERVATIVE RIGHT, and it didn't make sense that the CONSERVATIVE RIGHT REPUBLICANS would be closing the borders if Americans had to press 1 to keep from speaking Spanish, instead of the Mexicans having to press 1, if they didn't speak English. Now, with the new information about the corporations SUPER-HIGHWAY, it is perfectly clear.

Between North American Super Corridor, Inc. and the Project for the New American Century, this CONSERVATIVE RIGHT-WING REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION has pretty much destroyed any hope of a middle class. If WE THE PEOPLE DON'T GO TO THE POLLS IN MASSES there is going to only be the Wealthy, and the rest of America, Mexico and Canada. If you are not WEALTHY, you had better realize you are the Political LEFT. It is easy to imagine, but WE THE PEOPLE had better start looking at reality while we still have some reality to look at. There should not be any REPUBLICANS other than the 10% FASCIST CAPITALIST CLASS.

WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES had better quit fighting and trying to claim rights to being the MIDDLE CLASS, because while the UPPER MIDDLE CLASS, who think their better off and are snobbing the rest of the people, and are going along with the RIGHT, without knowing that THEY WILL LOSE ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE POLITICAL LEFT, because there is really NO PROFESSIONAL CLASS. YOU IN THE PROFESSIONAL CLASS have been duped into dividing your 20% out of the Political LEFT, leaving you with NO POWER,/strong> if the Political LEFT loses. 20% is NO POWER. 20% doesn't constitute the Political LEFT. The POWER is ONLY in our great numbers and WE THE COMPLETE POLITICAL LEFT need to all work together, because, if not, there will be no winners, except the ELITE CAPITALIST CONSERVATIVE RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS, who have gained power only by deception and fooling many of WE THE PEOPLE of the Political LEFT into giving up our political power and becoming REPUBLICANS with no political power. What has been pulled off against the Political LEFT of the United States is the political dupe of the Century. It is an EVIL PLAN of the God of this world, not the God of Heaven and the universe.
