(Governor Dean sent the following email to Democrats across the country today)
Dear Fellow Democrat,
You can't trust Republicans on national security -- and two things proved it yesterday:
1) In a powerful interview that aired yesterday, President Bill Clinton took on the extremist Republican propaganda about 9/11 -- and Fox News tried to cover up the fact that the Bush administration downgraded terrorism as a priority before September 11th and has failed to eliminate Osama bin Laden since the attacks.
2) An explosive report on the still-classified National Intelligence Estimate states that the "invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks" -- and Republicans have been trying to cover it up.
This is what we're fighting against every day -- an administration covering up of the Bush failure of 9/11 and covering up an honest look at the war in Iraq and the war on terror.
You know that Democrats have a real plan for destroying Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, fixing the mess in Iraq, and really securing us at home.
But we've always had those things -- the problem until now has been our willingness to stand up and fight for them in the face of fear mongering, bullying and intimidation from the other side.
That's why we're going on the offense on national security. The future of our party, and of our country, depends on the ability of Democrats to get a strong national security message out in all 50 states this year. Donate to make it happen and watch President Clinton fight back now:
http://www.democrats.org/playmoreoffense
Here's the meat of the Fox News interview with President Clinton, where he's had enough of the right-wing revisionist history from the propaganda machine:
CLINTON: I'm being asked this on the Fox network. ABC just had a right-wing conservative run in their little Pathway to 9/11, falsely claiming it was based on the 9/11 Commission report, with three things asserted against me directly contradicted by the 9/11 Commission report. ...
And I think it's very interesting that all the conservative Republicans, who now say I didn't do enough, claimed that I was too obsessed with bin Laden. All of President Bush's neo-cons thought I was too obsessed with bin Laden. They had no meetings on bin Laden for nine months after I left office. All the right-wingers who now say I didn't do enough said I did too much -- same people.
Over a quarter million Americans stood up to ABC and beat back the right-wing Republican 9/11 propaganda that tries to cover up the Bush administration's huge failures to protect America before and after the attacks.
Yesterday Bill Clinton did exactly what Democrats need to do in this election -- to stand up to the right-wing and tell the truth. We will not let the Republicans twist history and distort reality.
We're sick of playing defense against a Republican leadership that uses national security to scare people to win elections. We're not going to be pushed around, spun, and defamed by right-wing extremists and those whom they use to disseminate their propaganda.
Our plan for this election is to go on the offense -- to talk straight about the Republican failures and lay out a clear Democratic plan to take American foreign policy and national security in a better direction.
Watch President Clinton and donate now to Democrats who will fight back:
http://www.democrats.org/playmoreoffense
We have a fundamentally different vision for our security than the Party of Bush. We want a new direction in Iraq, more competent security at home, and the restoration of America's moral leadership in the world.
They failed to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, and five years after September 11th he still lives to taunt Americans.
They squandered America's moral authority and global leadership by launching a war of choice in Iraq instead of fighting the war on al Qaeda.
The calls of the 9/11 Commission Report and Hurricane Katrina simply did not awaken Republican leaders to our continuing vulnerabilities at home.
We've had enough, and we're going to run an honest campaign about the security of our country. People are smart and ready for real leadership -- will you make a donation right now to help get the message out?
http://www.democrats.org/playmoreoffense
Republicans have won two elections since 9/11 by instilling fear in people, and they're trying to do it again this year.
But it's not going to work. The Bush policies have failed. Iraq is sliding into civil war. Iran and North Korea are more dangerous than they were five and a half years ago. And the Taliban resurgence poses new threats in Afghanistan.
As President Clinton said on Fox News that we have a government "that thinks Afghanistan is only one-seventh as important as Iraq."
People have had enough. This administration cannot be trusted with our security.
Democrats are going to reclaim American leadership with a tough, smart plan to transform failed policies in Iraq, the Middle East and around the world.
We will increase the size of Special Forces to destroy Osama Bin Laden and terrorist networks like al Qaeda. We will implement the bipartisan 9/11 Commission proposal to secure America's borders and ports and screen every container. And we will fully man, train, and equip our National Guard and our police, firefighters and other first responders.
Let's get this message out to Americans who need to hear it:
http://www.democrats.org/playmoreoffense
When it comes to national security, the Republicans have not led.
We will.
Thank you,
Gov. Howard Dean, M.D.

Excerpts from President Bill Clinton's interview on Fox News:
"I'm being asked this on the Fox network. ABC just had a right-wing conservative run in their little Pathway to 9/11, falsely claiming it was based on the 9/11 Commission report, with three things asserted against me directly contradicted by the 9/11 Commission report. ...

All of President Bush's neo-cons thought I was too obsessed with bin Laden. They had no meetings on bin Laden for nine months after I left office. All the right-wingers who now say I didn't do enough said I did too much -- same people. ...
"...I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since. And if I were still president, we'd have more than 20,000 troops there trying to kill him. ...
"Now, I've never criticized President Bush, and I don't think this is useful. But you know we do have a government that thinks Afghanistan is only one-seventh as important as Iraq. ...
"And you ask me about terror and al Qaeda with that sort of dismissive thing? When all you have to do is read Richard Clarke's book to look at what we did in a comprehensive, systematic way to try to protect the country against terror. ...
"And you've got that little smirk on your face and you think you're so clever. But I had responsibility for trying to protect this country. I tried and I failed to get bin Laden. I regret it. But I did try. And I did everything I thought I responsibly could. ...
"The entire military was against sending Special Forces in to Afghanistan and refueling by helicopter. And no one thought we could do it otherwise, because we could not get the CIA and the FBI to certify that al Qaeda was responsible while I was President. ...
"They had three times as much time to deal with it, and nobody ever asks them about it. I think that's strange."

I really hope that the democratic party comes out and sets the record straight. I'm tired of the Republicans being allowed to say whatever they want. I hope that I start to see campaigns based on candidates stating what they have done and will do, not attack adds. I hope we also start to see candidates responding to those adds put out by people who claim not to be affiliated with either party-those ones like "swift-boat veterans for truth," who mis-represented John Kerry's heroism. Until we stop the extremists, we won't be able to discuss issues.
I am grateful to President Clinton for stepping up and speaking out.

Please tell Fox News to stop winning. Boo Hoo. Big Mr. Clinton was mad at me Boo Hoo. Good for President Clinton. It's about time people stand up to these people. I wish more people would stand up to these attacks. I'm sick and tired of all this garbage that the Repubs are putting out.I still feel we are being lied to. All of a sudden gas prices are falling, why? There are so many issues the party needs to address to stop attacks like this Fox news garbage. I hope many more people will stand up and fight for what is right.

Now that a real democrat is fighting back, I hope this will encourage the rest of our weak spined Demo senators and reps to take the fight to the right wing pundits.

Finally! It's about time we Dems go on the offensive and let people know that the person talking louder than everybody else is not necessarily right, but likely right-wing.

Bravo President Clinton! It is time the Democrats begin taking the offense and getting our message into the public arena. We have been nice and willing to see others views too long. Stand up and let America hear what we stand for.

It is my impression that President Clinton did not in the final months of his presidency want to attack Bin Ladden So the new administration wouldn't inherit a war. But he did leave a plan and people in place all trying to warn the Bush administration. It is also my understanding that they were ignored. I don't think Clinton should stop with these comments. He needs to go much further.
We have a President who obviously knowingly lied us into this war that will cost more American lives than 9/11. Not to mention the lives of tens of thousands of Iraqis. It is obvious this President doesn't know who the terroist are but he has made good use of using terrorist tatics to win elections. Needless to say I can't believe noone has called him on using terror/ fear tactics and a national tragedy to his own political benefit.
Bill Clinton was investigated daily for one thing or another and was finally impeached for a personal indescetion. All the while you could hear the washington Republicans saying he should resign. Why is this President not being investigated and why is noone talking resignation and impeachment for Bush. Tony Blair is paying the price but somehow Predident Bush is actually gaining popularity.

I was taken aback by a wonderful speech on energy conservation by Senator Barack Obama ,whose speech I heard first on Air America and then again today again on Al Franken's show. Admittedly I was shocked that our national news networks didn't carry it or any part of it let alone our newspapers. I would hope that this speech would be the rallying cry for every candidate who either wants a seat in Congress or wishes to keep their seats! For every republican who asks the question what are democrat doing about terrorism we can say with a real commitment to this senators ideas that we intend to take the money out of the terrorists mouths! I am angry every time I see pictures of our president embracing Arab leaders who drain our pockets while we pay farmers who could be growing a crop that provides fuel to instead not produce anything! Each politician loves to say we are the greatest country on earth and yet we cant have hundreds of wind farms and cash crops that produce fuels while still being able to save our air and our pocket books? we cant produce low fuel engines while apparently in Europe they can?Having visited Europe for the first time I saw Sicily and London both loaded with low energy use cars while the lines for gas were extremely low.
This new energy policy which frankly could be the democrats battle cry against terrorists and terrorism ( to say nothing of our political battles) and bring these terrorist countries to their knees if they don't listen to US!
Its no wonder that our VP no mater how badly they have managed a war on a euphemism such as terrorism instead of the Taliban who attacked us ,still keeps secret who he met with and what was decided by energy companies!
I believe if in the democrats platform that we demand that any oil company and car company that brings new fuels and better engines and ARE AMERICAN TAX PAYERS should be helped out by our government to develop these alternatives to fueling the terrorist pockets!
Let this be the rallying cry by every democrat politician ,and ask them ask why Republicans think we cant do better ,why Republicans think its ok to deal with nations who pay terrorists for killing our kids ?!
It appears that our president has no vision like John Kennedy's did by calling us to go to the moon and instead thinks its ok to let the wealthy benefit via tax cuts while we are at the mercy of oil companies and oil countries!
Its time for democrats to say here is just one of our reasons for putting us in power and why we hate the terrorists enough to take the money right out of their hands and mouths!
Thank you Air America for airing Senator Barack Obama a man with vision that our president and vice president seem to be in short supply of and let this be the theme of every politician who wants and then would deserve our vote.
Lets starve the terrorists by using America know how and we will and we can demand that George Bush enacts this with a democrat Congress while protecting our ports and borders by using just a weeks worth of money from his Iraq war

I am so proud of President Clinton. It's about time someone in our party stood up to those right-wingers who think they rule the world. Where on earth are we going to find someone who can fire up our party? You know, I am the only Democrat in a family of 6 - I take a beating at every gathering...give me some ammo
Posted by Stargazer on September 25, 2006 at 01:54 PM
I am shocked and amazed and want to jump for joy that finally there is the beginning of a "fight back". I've never felt so proud of Clinton as I did yesterday when he came out swinging! And more Democrats need to do the same. Stop with the politically correct middle rubbish and stand up with facts and solid Democratic values! It's time we stop apologizing for wanting to be a fair minded society who wants to take care of it's citizens. It's time to have the courage it will probably take to talk about how fascist we really have become! John Dean, take Clinton's lead and come out swinging with the facts of this past 6 years! We don't even need political double talk against this current administration! Just the facts alone, which must include all of the government contract deals, put up on a time line visual can be enough to help people remember what has really happened versus the popular myth making(recreated on a monthly basis) from this administration.
Maybe we really do need to go buy Gary Hart's book just to be reminded of what Democratic values are any more?

"You know that Democrats have a real plan for destroying Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, fixing the mess in Iraq, and really securing us at home"
Actually, that's the problem, no we don't. Dems keep saying they will do better, without saying how. When asked about the war...they say, we'll do better...How is that any better than stay the course? It is an empty non-answer.
And yes, wasn't Clinton a breath of fresh air? It makes me sad though, why is it that only democrats who aren't in office have impact? How sad is it that we are getting more progress and results from two EX-politicians? What good are the Dems in office right now if it takes Gore and Clinton to stand up for American rights?
So yes, good for Clinton, but frankly, a powerful reminder of how pathetic Dems have been during the Bush years. I want to support the Dems, but I feel like it is still the lesser of two evils. With the laundry list of wrongs this man has comitted, and it has taken this long to get any kind of strong reaction from the Dems. My frustrations with the Dems stand. My respect for Gore and Clinton stands as well.
If only more of our Dems would get organized, get the facts and use them to smack down all the liars. There seems to be a lack of unification that frustrates me beyond belief. The NIE report that has finally come to light...after it was released in April...where are the Dems voices? Republicans have been in cover up mode since April!!!!! If you can't figure out how to run on this, this coupled with the lack of funding for our troops, the halliburton war profitting, the lack of benefits waiting for troops when they return...
I really, really want to support the dems, but i need some kind of action. so the msm won't cover you - guess what - there are blogs that attract 1-3 million readers a day that will give you an outlet. use what you have, as it is, there is simply a void and a promise of better...it's kind of like bush saying...just trust me...i need a plan, i need timelines, i need problem, solution, i need to see panels, i need to see dems meeting together with experts to give solutions, not promises.
Posted by dd on September 25, 2006 at 03:18 PM
sorry, i should clarify, the NIE has not been released to the public at this point. net movements are encouraging all to contact your representative and ask to release to the public BEFORE the elections. We need to know what kind of a mess this administration has gotten us into, as well as all the lies they have told us about iraq, and we need to know the truth before the November election.
Americans deserve the truth.
Iraqis deserve the truth.

He could have had Bin Laden from Sudan and he turned them down. He became unhinged when reminded of his failure as a President. His record is all there, he failed. Sandy Burglar trying to remove papers from the National Archives to try and fix his so called "Legacy".

What kind of an idiot are you? When people like you have nothing better to say, I can understand that lowlifes like you voted for the jerk who has taken this country to rock bottom.
Just remember - George W. Bush will go down in history as the worse President - ever. I'd rather see a President screw an intern then a President screw his country.
Bring on the Democrats so we can impeach the SOB.

I think that Bill Clinton should have stood up to the ultra-conservatives. I live in South Carolina, and some of the people here don't have a problem with hardly anything that this ultra-conservative administration and this ultra-conservative Congress has done. Of course, there are also some reasonable people here who realize that this administration and Congress has made a lot of mistakes and hope for more Democrats to get elected this year and in 2008.

I heard that President Clinton yelled at his staff after the Wallace interview. He obviously felt that he was set-up, and rightly so. However, he needs to do MORE, not less, of those types of interviews. Conservative viewers watch conservative news shows and as long as the "journalists" on those shows feel they can speak with impunity, their viewers will continue to get biased, erroneous information. Preaching to the choir doesn't help spread the truth. I already know the George W. lied to the American public. However, the facts need to reach those people who only watch FoxNews or listen to Rush Limbaugh. President Clinton, Howard Dean and other members of the Democratic Party need to go on conservative talk shows and do exactly what happened on Sunday's interview - AGGRESSIVELY set the record straight. Remind people what Clinton's Administration tried to do after the USS Cole, remind people of the recommendations General Shinseki made with regards to invading Iraq (before he was fired for them), remind people of Richard Clark's record (under 4 presidents), remind people of the Bush's failure to implement the 911 Commissions recommendations, etc., etc., etc. There will always be those die-hards who could see George W. Bush standing over a dead body with a smoking gun in his hand, and view it as an ad for the NRA. However, I believe, and I hope, that not all conservatives are stupid.

GO CLINTON!!!
If Clinton had done even 1/3 of what this president the right wing would have dusted off their henchman Ken Star and began impeachment hearings Bush id far worse than Nixon ever was!
LET'S KICK THEM ALL TO THE CURB IN THIS UPCOMING ELECTION AND IN 2008.

Did you listen to President Clinton. Did you really listen. He said he had to wait for the CIA and the FBI to certify that al Qaeda was responsible. A true leader would have kicked some butt to get the needed CIA and FBI certification. Here you have the Trade center bombings, the cole bombing, the '83 bombing and several U.S. embassy's bombed and Pres. Clinton waiting for the CIA and FBI. We can't aford to wait. And Howard Dean must be blind to come away with any positive feelings about this interview. I'm seeing what the Repubs are saying. Democrats feel good for trying even though they fail. I want a leader who succeeds. Trying and failing is not an option but Bill Clinton thinks thats good enough.
"...I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since. And if I were still president, we'd have more than 20,000 troops there trying to kill him. ...
Close only counts in horse shoes and handgrenades Mr. Clinton. Your efforts were a waste of time and so was your Presidency.

I would like to thank President Clinton for standing up for what many of us feel. His compassion, conviction, and directness is something we have been sorely missing. I think we need a new theme song. "We're not going to take it!"
Posted by brownclan on September 25, 2006 at 06:54 PM
Hooray for President Clinton. It's about time that a real Democrat stood up to the conservatives for attempting to duck responsibilty for the middle east mess. Now, maybe more of our gutless Democrats will grow some backbone and start going after this illegal administration. Only wish that President Clinton didn't really say why those 2 faced Republicans wouldn't back him - that they were too busy attempting to conjer up impeachment charges rather than tending to the important affairs of the country and accussing him of attempting to "divert" the attention of the country. GO GET THE BASTARDS BILL!!!
Posted by RDB on September 25, 2006 at 06:56 PM
I really don't understand why the democrats allow themselves to be bulldozed by republicans, especially in interviews. We all know the republicans have a stronghold on the so-called "liberal" media so we have to fight back strong even at the risk of "loosing our cool." Finally, Bill Clinton went on the attack--with anger! This is what's missing--anger. We should be mad---not "cool", but pissed off. I see democrats in interview who, in the interest of public image and "looking cool" allow themselves to be verbally run over. Say what you mean, dammit!!! And don't hold back--we've got nothing to loose. This administration is a complete F-up and the whole world knows it. They know it too that's why they keep reaching back into the Bill Clinton presidency. Someone needs to tell them that "BILL CLINTON IS NOT THE PRESIDENT, HASN'T BEEN THE PRESIDENT IN SIX YEARS, AND WILL NEVER BE THE PRESIDENT SO STOP USING HIM TO COVER YOUR SCREWUPS!"

Fellow Democrats,
It is about time the Democrats speak with one voice and tell the American people the truth about President Bush, Mr. Cheney and the GOP.
It is very good that President Clinton finally answered them with regards their lies.
President Clinton's answers should be repeated by all Democrats including the candidates from time to time and using his (President Clinton) answers as commercials will be very powerful.

It is good to see a Democrat fight back. But, is President Clinton performance too little, too late? This country faces serious problems, none of which are being adequately addressed. As I see it, if Democrats took control of Congress there wouldn’t be any significant chance other than more hearings and maybe an impeachment. Because the Democrats don’t have sellable ideas they are not likely to succeed. I get a sense that because of these problems, Democrats don't want control. They'll just let matters get worse and hope for a sweep in '08. Well in two years problems may be irreversible. If Democrats need some ideas on solving our problems, check out: http://www.rt88.com/covenant.htm

I am so happy that someone finally took on the neo-cons and took them on hard. There needs to be so much more than that. Clinton is my idol, and I think that every word he said was true. These "people" in the right wing media, in particular Fox News, all need to be called on their extreme bias and they need to be called on how much they lie. One of their own is the Press Secretary; that's assinine. Perhaps now that Clinton has started on the offensive as our QB, maybe we can complete a pass and go all of the way for a touch down in November.

I am so grateful for Clinton's statements in that interview. My spouse and I have had many conversations beginning with, "I can't believe there has been no Democratic response to fill-in-the-blank innane comment by the neo-cons." Please, please, please let Clinton's tirade give other Dems in a position to be heard the courage to begin fighting back. Thank you, Mr. Clinton. Now I remember why I voted for you twice.

Fox News reported ON AIR Monday afternoon that you could see the entire interview video on their website. I have been trying to find a way to see the entire interview now for a couple of hours on the FoxNews website. All I can find right now (8:32 PM 9/25/06) are strategically edited video clips with titles that are obviously geared toward just getting the "Clinton rant" out there into cyberspace. If not this is serious evidence of Fox News slant and predisposition (as if we need more).

I was very proud of former President Clinton regarding his interview on Fox. Had I been him, I may have not done the interview, knowing it would have tried to make a jerk out of him. But, in his infinite wisdom, he made sure, by being on Fox, that Cheney & Bush would see what he had to say.
Showing that he was certainly not afraid to discuss his presidency on Fox, lets all of us know that Democrats should stand up and fight for this election (06) and even more so for (08).
It was really comforting to see him spar with Chris Wallace and Wallace did, indeed, have a smurk on his face.

I think that President Clinton has just set the rallying cry for Democrats. To those who say he lost his cool, SO WHAT! All Democrats should be tired of being battered and insulted by republicans. Who do we have in the party that can speak with conviction and not be afraid of being labled? We need a REAL LEADER to bring us out of this mess that we are in.
Bush is trying to rewrite history to suit his agenda and there is some polling data to suggest that he is having some success. Why are we allowing the republicans to control the media and dictate the agenda? The media hype today was about President Clinton losing his cool, not so much about the NIE report. Such timing!
Finally, someone has had the courage to say what democrats have been too cowardly to express before. What has Bush done about Bin Laden? Didn't he at one time in a press conference say he was not concerned about Bin Laden? The question to ask is who is driving this "Blame Clinton" now movement? I think we can guess.
I am so glad that the former president spoke out and put Cris Wallace in his place. Thank you Mr. Clinton for finally giving us some courage to say with passion, "We are mad and we are not going to take this any more"!

War started. Our president Bill Clinton has fired not only first shot but left all those right wing yahoos in shock and awe -Democrats style. Not only that gloves are off...but volcano just exploded. We have to ride this tide,it is a winner definitely.
The fascists are trying desperately to grab last straw of hope,to tell last lie,but fight is on and fight we must!!!! Civil debate is over! Nor our opposition was ever civil to us nor we'll give them that courtesy. I can not compere these guys who run the show to anything else but fascist, getting bolder and bolder with every ground they lose.We must fight them! For United State Of America, for all ideals that it stood for.We must fight them with our bible being constitution of United States. To preserve the greates document ever writen-The Bill of Rights in it's entirety. We'll fight for those who are currently on the other side, but we'll forgive them for they do not know. We'll fight for the rest of the world supporting us as its last hope, they do know if America goes down-all world's hope will go down with it. And we will not go down quietly,we will not go in the darkness without fight,we will not vanish in the air,we shall fight as it will be the last thing what we'll ever gonna do ...we will fight and fight we must!
We lost two elections, all we ever knew past 12 years is losing, but this time around carried with God's blessing for we are righteous,we are doing God's work,we helping those thirsty, hungry and helpless....We shall emerged victorious and put to end this darkest times in American history and to this dictatorship...I knew one when I see one,because-I have lived in one...

It's high time for Democratic polititions to get a clue.Stop walking around like nuetered dogs and start fighting.I'm not sure what message they are trying to convey by backing down when Republicans strike, but whatever it is, (Pelosi, Boxer, Reid and Clinton specifically)it's coming off the wrong way.Whatever you're doing is making the entire Party look weak, intimidated and cowardly, so please take a cue from President Clinton,John Edwards,Al Gore,Russ Feingold and Jack Murtha; FIND YOUR SPINE AND GROW A PAIR, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!
Reagards.

Finally a Democrat I can be proud of! Maybe this will be a turning point for the Democratic party. It is about time someone stood up to the Republican Party and their mouthpiece Fox News. The republicans have tortured, broken international treaties, started wars, spied on us, are bankrupting us, have lied to us and are killing our soldiers. It is time to stand up to them. It is time to call them out and fight them. I don't care if the democrats lose every election for the next twenty years because of it.
There comes a time to stand up for what's right and decent in this world. It is time to take back this country and regain the freedom's set forth in the constitution that have been trampled by this administration. It is time to fight! It is time to Impeach! The time has come. Now stand up and Fight!

Keith Olbermann, for those who haven't noticed, is rising to greatness.
His latest tour-de-force, the defense of former President Bill Clinton and the slapdown of George Bush and his lackeys really must be heard.
Here is the link to the Olbermann commentary from the http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15004160/"Countdown" website. There won't be 5 minutes better spent than hearing Mr. Olbermann deliver his stinging rebuke of the impostor-in-chief. You have an option to read the transcript or see Keith deliver it himself. I recommend the latter. This is one vital message that should not be missed.
Political commentary doesn't get any better than this.

President Clinton kicked that Republican wussie, Chris Wallace's, ass big time. And I loved it. Bill had a right to be angry and so do we. Democrats could well learn from other persecuted groups, such as the Jews who founded the state of Isreal. "Never again," is their noble motto. And I repect it. Likewise, 'never again' can we Democrats afford to let ourselves be bullied or intimidated by those who seek our political extinction -- namely the Republican Right. Or I should say Reich. So let's learn from Bill Clinton. Never take crap from a Republican. Talk back, shove back, punch back. Fight. In election terms that translates into; contribute, right letters, get on the phones, get out the vote, recruit, spread our message, organize, organize, organize. Never again can we let the corrupt and dangerous anti-American forces of the Republican Right dictate the law of this land at the expense of our constitution and freedom. Let's become Tough Dems. When Republicans attack us --we hitt'em back -- hard and in bunches!

Too bad John Kerry didn't decide to take this approach against Bush in 04, when the swift boat captians spread their lies. For some reason Dems have decided to allow Republicans to make outlandish claims, while taking a stance of being above dirty politics. Unfortunately uninformed voters will only listen to 30 second sound bites and not go and research for themselves. Confront the lies and the liars and fight for the congress and White House. Bravo President Clinton and thank you for leading the way again.

Not only is the NIE and the Clinton inrerview a new foundation for rallying cry, but don't forget the OTHER two major developments that happened lately that causes the Bush arguments to collapse like a house of cards.
Remember that the presidents of Pakistan AND Afghanistan have both made recent public statements that starkly contradicts the Bush rhetoric. Afghanistan president stated in no uncertain terms that even if only a portion of the resources that were devoted to Iraq were instead directed toward his country that Afghanistan would be "heaven now."
Plus, the Pakistan president stated that his aliance with the US was initially based on a direct threat from Armatige to bomb them "back to the stone age." Then he went on to explain how his recent peacemaking with the tribes of Pakistan were based in large part by his isolation, that American resources were spread so thin now in Iraq and Afghanistan that we would lack the resources to back him up if a confrontation developed.
What's really ironic in all of this is something I saw at the daily kos. A chart was drawn illustrating the reasons we went to Iraq, and how other countries compared in the mix. If I recall it correctly, it went something like this:
Country WMD's Dictatorship Terrorists Al Quida
Iraq no yes no no
Korea yes yes no no
Iran no no yes no
Pakistan yes yes yes yes
When I saw this, I was struck by the notion that of the four reasons given for making war in Iraq, only one actually applied, yet the one country who completely fit the bill for our justifications for war, the Bushies forced an alliance with. And THEY are the better choice to "protect" us. Go figure...
A more enegrgized democrat now...

Oops...
Please don't take the chart I tried to post above as my saying we should have went to war with Pakistan. The point I was making was the ridiculousness of the argument made to justify war with Iraq. I feel very strongly that we need to support the Pakistan government in every way we can. Too bad we're so tied up in the unnecessary war we actually started.

Thank GOD and a Very Presidential Clinton. That fantasy movie "Road to 9/11" needed a proper response, and President Clinton unloaded on Wallace with both barrels, doing a FAR BETTER JOB than Vice President Cheney did bird dogging his friends.
Vice President Gore has turned up the heat nicely, too, so there isn't the dearth of role models for Independents, or independently thinking Republicans to choose from. Why aren't we hearing from John Conyers as we are from Barack Obama?
But mostly, why are democrats not describing the God Loving Republicans as nothing but a bunch of Ultra-Charamistic (not Evangelical) Terror Baiting Neo-cons? Instead of following the teaching of Jesus (The weak shall inherit the Earth), they follow Tammy Faye, (Rev) Jimmy Swaggart & (Rev) Jerry Falwell (god does not want you to be poor - send us money)
GOD wants Democrats to Win in November!

The Republicans are running scared in Ohio. Now is the time to take back Ohio from the fear inflictors. Since Bush was elected in 2000(?), close to 200,000 jobs have vanished from Ohio. We are seeing our best and brightest move to other states for employment. We must take the governors race and the Senate seat and protect what few jobs we have left. Most of our manufacturing jobs have left and gone other places or to other countries and our elected officials( mostly republican) say that it is a world economy and all they ever preach is tax cuts for the wealthy. DO NOT EASE UP, TELL THE TRUTH,,,,SPREAD THE WORD. It would be welcome.

It's about time the Ds showed some life, but I'd like to see more than just the whiny feedback that I get on the dscc.org mailing list. It's as if the Democrats intended to stay in the permanent opposition, and let the Republicans set the agenda so the Dems can simply react.
The candidate that putsforth a realistic, coherent comprehensive plan for getting us out of the puerile mess made the past few years gets my vote. No matter that this plan might change once elected -- full knowledge of all the hidden facts is not possible. But I'd also need to be convinced of a high degree of transparency -- no more of this slipping through of legislative bombshells without warning. In the past elections, the Republicans have done the best job at this (which is admittedly not saying much), whereas the Ds have shown the appalling lack of originality to put forth either throwaway or 'default' candidates.
Show some innovation for a change. It's a bit embarrassing that I find myself regretting the 22nd amendment . . .

I was impressed by Clinton's defense during his interview with Fox. I wish more Democrats would fight back. And, I wish leading Democrats would have had ready a 'scorecard' detailing the security measures they supported and had not be passed or had been watered down by the Bush administration. This would help demonstrate in a tangible way how Democrats have worked to make us more secure only to have the Bushies ignore or push it aside. What about Sen. Gary Hart's book where he's detailed many measures yet untaken that would really help increase our security? GET ON THE STICK DEMOS!!!

I think Clinton was great!I'd like to see other democrats come out & speak. It would be great if they'd ban together and call a news conference. They need to show unity.
This is the chance. If they don't do it now,I don't have alot of hope or respect for them.
I also see the media throwing up other useless stories. This was also their chance to reflect on all the lies Bush's gang has told over and over and over....
