DNC Podcast: One Year after Katrina, Bush Administration Still Not Capable of Protecting Americans
This week, the DNC's Podcast hosted Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio's 11th District. In her interview, Congresswoman Tubbs Jones discussed her recent tour of the Gulf Coast region and criticized President Bush for failing to do more for the victims of Hurricane Katrina a full year after the storm devastated the Gulf Coast.
"I was just stunned that here we are one year later and not more has been done on behalf of the people in the area."
"Clearly [the Administration] is not capable of responding to [disasters], and if they're capable, then they're not putting their best foot forward," added Tubbs Jones.
Tubbs Jones also criticized President Bush for squandering an opportunity to finally display real leadership to the American people in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
"In my mind, since Katrina, [President Bush] had an opportunity to show real leadership and he has not shown real leadership and the people of America know that he hasn't shown the kind of leadership he should be showing in this instance," said Tubbs Jones.
