Keep Up the Pressure Open Thread
A lot of people have put loads of energy into making sure ABC keeps its propaganda off the air. 9/11 was a horiffic day. A day that deserves to be remembered forever, honestly, solemnly, and respectfully. Thousands of people died. Thousands more risked their lives. And countless people will be changed, always and forever, by that day, by those events. ABC owes it to them, to us, to keep their fictional account off the air. America deserves nothing less.
This is an open thread...

did some work for my congressional candidate tonight. phone calling and putting up signs. there were alot of young people working away like bees. the candidate is a long shot as this is one of the few republican dominated districts in ny but it just might surprise some people.
Rather's documents were forgeries, that was proven. That and the fact that he wouldn't admit it are why he is working at a network that no one ever heard of and even less can get.
I think Bush set him up - probably provided the forged documents - but Rather was so eager to believe it and get it on the air that the big dope fell for it.
To use the deaths of 3000 people, to distort history and use for political purpose is about as low as this party could ever go! You don't see any Republicans out there condemning this lying piece of trash ! They WANT this lie to be told, in hopes of saving the Republican majority, no matter what!
Funny, but we still have:
Katrina failure,
Illegal Iraqi invasion and failure
Afghanistan Taliban stronger than ever, another failure
Terri Schiavo proving government wants to control your life and death choices
Gasoline Prices. Anybody really fooled why they have asked their buddies the Oil companies to give up a few cents? Still $3.04 here in CT. Good to use against Lieberman, who voted for Energy bill.
Medicare plan disaster. People here hitting their donut hole, paying full price for drugs.
Immigration. Bush still ranting for Amnesty,
The Deficit! what more do we need to say about that??? Came into a surplus, built it into one of the largest deficits, because of his tax cuts.
Jobs hemorraged and sent overseas!
Republican Culture of Corruption!
We can go on and on and on ! Bring it on, you Right Wing Wackos! We can more than make up for any Lies you want to tell! We aren't going to take it anymore!
loggin off till tomorrow. nite good Dems.
bush was insubordinate at a time of war. we should look up the consequence and administer it.
All bent out of shape over a movie that shows the Clinton administration as it was - useless, corrupt, decadent and cowardly.
We probably won't see any decadent and corrupt in that movie though. I think they will just be covering useless and cowardly.
Gas is $2.49/gal here if you need another reason why CT sux.
I recommend all amoung us who are parents and grandparents contact Disney store customer support and ask where can return our thousands of dollars worth of products. I look around my living room and see Baby Einstein, Muppets, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and many toys. Thousands of dollars in Disney products. I say we try to return them all.
http://disneyshopping.go.com/Images/I-Catalog/DS/Misc/GuestServices/ContactUs/Body.html
Also please contact Disneyland customer service. If you have a pass, or plans to visit with your kids in the near future; let them know you'll be changing your itternary.
https://secure.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/help/contactUs?name=ContactUsPage
Disney gets it from all sides, from straight people when they are having homo day at Disneyland and from the left when they try to present an honest movie about Clinton.
I hear Rosie O'Donnel is going to play Monica.
Question: has anyone been asked, when signing onto the blog, to enter a 4 digit number which would be sent to the e-mail address of the person signed on in order to get on? Earlier today that happened to me...but not just now when I signed on. The number was never sent to my eddy.
Never happened to me, LHD, but they have been tinkering with this site for the past few weeks, adding new features, and such.
Have you tried the "contact" button and asked the site administrator?
I did contact the admin. No reply. I think that would be ok to do if it would keep the site clear of the undesierables. Or at least give them a good, traceable track on who is here.
Is it the 10th and 11th that the 9/11 cartoon is to be shown? Wouldn't you know the Redskins play Monday night.
Well, the 10th is the 18th Season Premier of the Simpsons!! So, I know what I'll be watching.
Come on! Somehow Homer becomes the head of the Mob, and the whole family goes on a crime spree.
(Sort of like the Pug Party).
They could call it the Republican Family Values show
Did anyone see the Dick Morris remarks about the Clinton letter to ABC? He is a real hair ball.
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/7/203153.shtml?s=al&promo_code=2543-1
This is one of the more repugnant sites I visit to check the ops.
Since Dick Morris was given the heave ho he's been an opportunistic media whore.
Here's something from 1999 that pretty much sums up his state of "mind" going back 7 years.
...Morris's finger-in-the-eye approach is that of a political operative, not a journalist, since he often hurls charges without proof....
Have you see the 9/11 Press for Truth vids on You Tube? They should show that if they are going to show the ABC Disney one. Or better yet, replace ABC's docudrama with the Press for Truth one. On You Tube do a search for Halifaxion's videos. More than a little disturbing yet should be heard.
Why don't we spend this much energy on figuring out how WTC Building collapsed at free fall speed into its own footprint late in the afternoon on Nine Eleven or as Bush calls it
The September The Eleventh Attacks
He is a douchebag.
Watch the documentary by the BBC called "The Power of Nightmares" that should help you understand it.
Google it and watch it on Google Video. Free :)
Good Evening,
Anyone still up?
GO OBAMA!! Good news:
CQ: Senate Passes Pork Database Bill
By Justin Rood - September 7, 2006, 10:54 PM
Congressional Quarterly's Martin Kady II reports:
The Senate passed legislation Thursday night that would create a massive, Google-like searchable database to track federal spending.
The legislation (S 2590), which aims to create more transparency in exactly who gets how much federal money, passed by a voice vote after both Republican and Democratic senators dropped their objections to it.
The bill had widespread support in the Senate and became something of a cause célèbre in the “blogosphere,” where liberal and conservative bloggers united in trying to figure out which senator had placed an anonymous “hold” blocking the legislation for the past month.
In my opinion 911 was an inside job and the neo-cons with their relationships to al queda terrorists from the Soviet Union fights in the 1980's, set the whole thing up to further their policies and plans to take over the Middle East. Why else would they forget about Osama and why else would the detail this in their PNAC document "Rebuilding America's Defenses"
We need to wake up and use our critical thinking skills to wade our way through this very reliable and overwhelming information and facts.
We can do it. All together now...
PNAC etc.
All of sudden when the Repub’s want to air propaganda they want everyone to have an open mind and debate the issue. But when it comes to everyday matters they want Dems to shut up and sit down. Look there is no way you can blame Clinton for all of King George’s screw ups. Clinton hasn’t been in office for almost six years. And GW hasn’t caught Binny either. This president is truly the great divider.
P.S. Clinton caught and prosecuted the perpetrators of the first Tower attacks. Bush invaded two countries and still hasn’t caught anyone yet.

Binny is hiding now - he wasn't when Clinton was running things.
Hasn't caught anyone yet? Do you ever read the papers? 75% of Al Qaed leadership at the time of 9/11 is dead or in jail.
People think 911 was an inside job, yet noone seems to see the obvious........Everytime the Republicans are low in the polls and there's an election close,BOOM! there just "happens" to be a tape or terror threat or some shet like that.BTW,I though George Bush wasn't up for re-election.So why is he out there campaigning?
Tape said to show Qaeda leaders planning 9/11 attacks

FrostyPumpkin why do you hate so much.
300,000 + innocent Iraq's are also dead. Also we don't know who is being held in camp gitmo because it's a secret.
WHO'S AT FAULT ?
Two little children, same age, are playing on the playground at daycare. The blond headed one walks up to the red headed one and slaps the shet out of him causing him to bleed. The next day,the red headed kid walks up to a brunette kid and cracks his little scull with a toy fire truck. As the brunette boy is crying, the red headed boy says,"That's for yesterday!" The brunette headed boy sobbs." but, I'm not the one who hit you" and the redheaded boy, instead of saying sorry says,"Well, you were playing with him" Meanwhile, the blond haired boy is sitting in the corner lauging.
Your the teacher. What do you do?

LOL. Do you think our little trolls got my "parable"?
So is it true about Mr Berger taking documents? that sounds serious.
I know osama tried to blow it up in 93 and we didn't get him then - he was pretty sneaky. I think ABC is a good company shouldn't we allow free speech?
Free Speech is great, but if I made a movie titled " A Psycho is Born " that showed little George Bush drowning puppies, having a Confederate Flag Bible Cover , raping Frat BOYS in college , Getting drunk with his Pastor, sleeping in a cofin with dead animals and walking around the White House mumbling to himself, I don't think conservatives would allow that on the air.Despite the fact that half of what I just wrote is true.
No, it is NOT true about Berger. Just another RepubliNazi LIE.
If it were true, don't you think there would at least be a trial by now?
It's more likely that Bush uses classified memos to snort his 8 balls than someone stuffing things in their socks.
At least we KNOW that Bush is a uncontrolled blow monkey.
FOS, I STILL wonder if little Georgie killed his sister. We all know about his fascination with killing family pets and wild animals when he was a kid. Now, ask yourself this, if your daughter died, would YOU go golfing the next day, as Babs and Geo Senior did?
And why was the kid's body exhumed and moved to the Bush Presidential Library (which means that W can block ANYTHING contained in it from ANY scrutiny) right after the Chimp was selected by Uncle Thomas?
There's sumptin ain't right with that Klan.
From the global security newswire Missile Defense, Not Terror, Was Bush's "Most Urgent Threat" Before 9/11
From its earliest days until the attacks, the Bush administration appeared to treat the missile threat as its top national security priority by aggressively lobbying for the hastened development and deployment of a controversial antiballistic missile defense system, according to a review by Global Security Newswire of administration statements and official documents.
....
Critics from the scientific community charged that the technological challenge was so great the system would never work effectively. Arms control critics, meanwhile, charged that abandoning the treaty restrictions could undermine global stability and that the defenses would address an improbable threat, while drawing money from the most probable danger to the United States: terrorism.
Senator Joe Biden (D-Del.) made that case in a Sept. 10, 2001, speech at the National Press Club, saying "real threats come into this country in the hold of ship, or the belly of a plane or are smuggled into a city in the middle of the night in a vial in a backpack."

How about blowing up frogs by shoving fire-crackers up their butts, does that count?

A Blast From the Past: September 9, 2001 - CNN LATE EDITION WITH WOLF BLITZER
Rumsfeld and Biden
SEN. JOSEPH BIDEN (D), RHODE ISLAND: Missle defense would protect us from virtually nothing. It will not protect us from cruise missiles. It will not protect us from something being smuggled in. It will not protect us from an atom bomb in the rusty hull of a ship coming into a harbor. It will not protect us from anthrax. Will not protect -- all of which the Defense Department says are much more likely, much more likely threats than somebody sending an ICBM with a return address it on, saying, we just struck you, knowing that'll result in immediate annihilation.
RUMSFELD: Senator Biden is against missile defense.

It sounds to me like Senator Biden is against moonbats running the Department of Defense.

Here's what I don't get about this whole thing. Those who favor the ABC Docu-less Drama, are citing Fahrenheight 911 as some sort of example of Free Speech and how it's only allowed when Liberals do it.First of all,it's noting like that.Micheal Moore used actual people and actual events.Noone acted out George Bush sitting on his azz reading to the kids when he was told twice about the planes hitting the towers. It was not an actor who portrayed George Bush on vacation. It was the president himself. It was the President who made those speeches. It was the president and his men on tape cozying up with Saudi Arabian Royals.None of that was made up.I have also seen, and rightfully so,comparisnon between this ABC (aka) "A Bashing of Clinton", show to the one CBS did about President Reagan and that one was pulled of the air and put on HBO as should this one.

Moore's piece WAS an oped, but people had to pay to see it either in a theatre or on DVD.
The Disney piece is propoganda and violates the terms and conditions on which ABC's use of public airways and existence as a broadcasting company is predicated.
That's the real argument.
Good evening, all.
I was at a "free speech zone" tonight with 25,000 other war protesters. Boy, did it feel good. CSNY performed outside under the stars and made us all feel like we were free again...that we can still make a difference.
We don't need what they are selling. And we don't like what they are selling. And we won't buy what they are selling.
Interesting crowd. Mostly 40's and 50's but a lot of 20 somethings, too. I guess all the 30 somethings are Republicans or else they are too broke trying to raise a family with this Republican economic miracle eating away at their disposable incomes.
And there were vets there. Korean, Vietnam, and Dessert Storm...and yes, even a few Iraqi Freedom soldiers. I know because I overhead a few older vets offering to buy them a drink.
It was a good night. The harvest moon rose over the stage and everybody let go of a lot of bad vibes and let the music take us to a better place.
They are killing this country. Even their supporters know it's a joke...what's the White House and Republican Congress is passing off as government and a war effort. They constantly switch agendas because they can't do anything right. And the worse part is that they are doing it on purpose just to confuse voters.
Shame on them. Sending off good soldiers to a badly planned, needless occupation and acting like they appreciate what they are doing. These brave men and women deserve so much more.
It's a lie. All lies. And they just can't seem to quit doing it. We have to stop them. Thank God there are still people who care.
Posted by SandyH on September 8, 2006 at 01:53 AM It was a good night. The harvest moon rose over the stage and everybody let go of a lot of bad vibes and let the music take us to a better place.
Glad to hear all that, Sandy.
No good news tonight for Disney or ABC.
Missteps mar ambitious Path to 9/11
Path has enough trouble just following history. Rewriting history is an ambition it should have left at the door.
Fabricating history
ABC docudrama on 9/11 jettisons accuracy in favor of fictional sensationalism
...
It's unfortunate that ABC would trust the depiction of a still painful and politically volatile subject such as 9/11 to a writer best known for fantastical storytelling. The least ABC officials can do is remove segments found to be fictitious before distributing the movie to impressionable schoolchildren and a national audience.
Mickey Mouse Blasts Democrats
Mickey is a long time supporter of the Bush administration and strident pro war advocate. The Disney Corporation said it will stand behind statements of Mickey Mouse. According to Disney insiders, Mickey Mouse himself has taken control of The Path to 9/11 project. Apparently, Mickey Mouse is personally overseeing the final editing and post production.
The word in Hollywood is that Mickey Mouse has been interested in revising the history of 9/11 for several years. Disney admits "the script includes numerous and serious inaccuracies that will undoubtedly serve to misinform the American people about the tragic events surrounding the terrible attacks of that day."
I guess all the 30 somethings are Republicans or else they are too broke trying to raise a family with this Republican economic miracle eating away at their disposable incomes
Neither,we're getting married much later and we still look 20 something.I just turned 32 and was told I look 23.
:)
All you need to do is send an email to Robert Iger telling him that you are boycotting ABC News if ABC airs the "Path to 9/11" propaganda show. No more Charlie Gibson, etc. If ABC is becoming another Fox, why watch?
Posted by TheLaz on September 8, 2006 at 02:22 AM

One problem. Most of us opposed to it have cable and we don't really watch anything on ABC.(LOL)We are raising concern because we know how ignorant and uninformed the people are who usually watch ABC and we don't need them believing in a lie that they base their votes on in the upcoming elections.......at least that's my reason for opposing it.
Posted by TheLaz on September 8, 2006 at 02:22 AM
I pretty sure everyone here is active in some way, Laz. That's partly how we've gotten this far.
Scholastic squashes 'The Path to 9/11' guide
The children's publishing company says will create (instead) a discussion guide focusing on media literacy, critical thinking and historical background.
That, and the fact that elected Democrats showed leadership.
Yeah, what he (dorsano) said.

PURE GENIOUS!
"Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red." --George W. See, if you're a small business owner or a large business owner and you're thinking about investing, you've got to be optimistic when you invest. My decision on Iraq, this kind of march to war, affected the economy." --George W. Bush, Meet the Press, Feb. 8, 2004

Bush & Co.: The Gang that Can't Shoot Straight
First our government ignores our allies' concerns regarding military detention and our Govt's stance toward use of touture.
Bush claims we don't use torture and never would - but then fights all efforts by Republican senators to pass legislation that clearly specifies that torture will not be used.
Then the Supreme Court rules Bush's tribunals un-constitutional.
Now Bush rushes out legislation to support his approach to prosecuting "enemy combatants" which military lawyers (that's correct) and key Republican Senators state are simply dead wrong. Bush's proposal to deny the accused the right to see classified evidence shown to the jury doesn't sit well with many, especially since the U.S. is suppose to have higher standards than this - and out of concern for how our soldiers will be treated by other countries if captured.
“It would be unacceptable, legally, in my opinion, to give someone the death penalty in a trial where they never heard the evidence against them,” said Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who has played a key role in the drafting of legislation as a member of the Armed Services Committee and a military judge. “ ‘Trust us, You’re guilty, We’re going to execute you, but we can’t tell you why’? That’s not going to pass muster, that’s not necessary.”
Bush can't get anything right. As one commentator described him recently: "He's like Deputy Barney Fife who runs around arresting the whole town."
There's much tough talk from Bush/Cheney, but when all is said and done Osama bin Laden is still free and plotting against America.
This is the gang that just can't shoot straight.

Body Count in Baghdad Nearly Triples
Morgue's Revised Toll for August Undermines Claims by Leaders of Steep Drop in Violence
By Ellen Knickmeyer
Washington Post Foreign Service
Friday, September 8, 2006; Page A12
BAGHDAD, Sept. 7 -- Baghdad's morgue almost tripled its count for violent deaths in Iraq's capital during August from 550 to 1,536, authorities said Thursday, appearing to erase most of what U.S. generals and Iraqi leaders had touted as evidence of progress in a major security operation to restore order in the capital.
Separately, the Health Ministry confirmed Thursday that it planned to construct two new branch morgues in Baghdad and add doctors and refrigerator units to raise capacity to as many as 250 corpses a day.
The morgue expansion plans and the final body count for August show the dramatic surge in violence in Baghdad since U.S.-led foreign troops entered Iraq in 2003. Baghdad's morgue chiefly handles unidentified gunshot victims, now predominantly shot execution-style and often found with hands bound and showing signs of torture.
Since the spring, as sectarian violence has mounted, monthly counts of civilian casualties have reached the highest levels of the war, topping 1,800 at the Baghdad morgue in July. At least 3,438 Iraqis were killed across the country that month, according to Iraqi government figures, nearing the total of roughly 5,000 for the entire first year of the war.
In 2002, before U.S.-led forces entered Iraq, the Baghdad morgue averaged 15 shooting victims a month, morgue officials have said.

Democrats Force a Debate, but Can’t Get a Vote on Rumsfeld
Senate Democrats failed Wednesday to force a vote on a resolution calling for the dismissal of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld after an extended debate that served as a proxy for a partisan clash over the war in Iraq.

New York CityWhitman: 9/11 health woes are city's fault
BY GRAHAM RAYMAN AND GLENN THRUSH
Newsday Staff Writers
September 8, 2006
Former EPA administrator Christine Todd Whitman is blaming the city for not forcing Ground Zero workers to wear respirators, prompting a fiery response from the city's top lawyer.
In a "60 Minutes" interview to air Sunday, Whitman maintains that the nation's leading environmental agency did not have authority to enforce rules at the site, though the agency did warn the city about dangers in the air at Ground Zero.
"We didn't have the authority to do that enforcement, but we communicated to the people who did," Whitman says in the interview with Katie Couric.
"EPA was very firm in what it communicated and it did communicate up and down the line [to city officials]," Whitman says, referring to the city as the "primary responder."
"In no uncertain terms?" Couric asks.
"Uh-huh, in no uncertain terms," Whitman replies.
Michael Cardozo, the city's corporation counsel, responded sternly and unequivocally.
"Ms. Whitman's latest comments do not reflect what happened in the days and weeks after this attack," Cardozo said in a statement Thursday night. "The city obtained respirators for employees and workers and stressed every day repeatedly that their use was required while working on the pile or performing certain tasks."
"When New York City was attacked on Sept. 11, all of America was attacked -- and the City of New York did everything within its power to protect those who participated in the recovery effort," he said.
Rudolph Giuliani, who was mayor at the time, also said repeatedly that the air was safe.
Former deputy mayor Joe Lhota, in a response to questions posed to a spokeswoman for Giuliani, said, "The EPA publicly reported that the general air quality was safe and the city repeatedly instructed workers on the pile to use their respirators."
Five years later, early statements by public officials about air quality have butted up against the reality of thousands of people sickened as a result of working or living near the disaster site. That reality was underscored earlier this week by a Mount Sinai Medical Center study of first responders' health, showing that 7 out of 10 of them suffer chronic long ailments.

Busy weekend/next week for me. Our county fair starts Mon. I'm (yeah, just me) the decorating committee for the Dems fair tent. The lady Dems are meeting Mon. to generate some marketing for advertising for our Fall Banquet program, so I will be helping them with that. I'll work the Dem fair tent Tues. night. Wed is precinct manager pickup of supplies, Thurs. is the special repug primary election to determine Z's opponent. Sat. I will be attending the Ohio Democratic Party state convention as a delegate for my county.
I'll stop by later to read what today's action is.
Enjoy the day, everyone.

intelligent piece from the bbc:
'War on terror' loses clear direction
By Paul Reynolds
World affairs correspondent, BBC News website
In the five years since 9/11, a clear-cut and well-supported "war on terror" declared by President Bush has become confused and divisive.
Whereas Le Monde declared the day after 9/11: "We are all Americans now", a placard at a demonstration in London recently read: "We are all Hezbollah now".
American policy has had successes. The quick war in Afghanistan after 9/11 (now flaring up again in the south) toppled the Taleban and has denied al-Qaeda its training bases, which were important to it (base is what the word Qaeda means).
Al-Qaeda has lost much of its leadership. It has not toppled governments as it had hoped. Western forces have not left the Middle East, and in particular the government of Saudi Arabia, guardian of Mecca, which is probably Osama Bin Laden's ultimate target, stands.
Yet Western and other publics are left in fear, and rightly so. Al-Qaeda is no invention. Its impact - or that of its sympathisers - was seen not only in New York and Washington but in Bali, Madrid, London, Morocco, Istanbul and elsewhere.

Rassmussen poll shows Harold ford tied with republican in fight over open senate seat
Right now this might be the most intense, and closest, senate race in the country. Since people started to pay attention to the candidates Ford closed a 12 point gap in just four weeks. Looks like the Bush visit to Nashville last week had no effect, other than a million dollar check to Bob Corker.
Deadliest blast since Taliban fall causes carnage

# More troops needed to beat Taliban, warns Nato chief
A massive suicide car bomb has killed at least 18 people, including two American soldiers, in the Afghan capital Kabul.
(US Military convoy were targeted outside the embassy...)
The only candidate for senate to decline, some say duck, a debate on MTP is none other than republican Bobbie Corker. They might have to give Ed Bryant a call and see if they can get that guy in the chicken suit to stalk Corker again.
It will be more than "nice" if this turns out to be the "sixth seat". It will effectively put an end to Bush, and thats very nice.
