100 Hours with a Democratic Congress
Posted by on October 6, 2006 at 01:20 PM
If Democrats win a majority in the House of Representatives, the first 100 hours under would-be Speaker Pelosi would look like this:
Day One: Put new rules in place to "break the link between lobbyists and legislation."
Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Time remaining until 100 hours: Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step. Cut the interest rate on student loans in half. Allow the government to negotiate directly with the pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare patients.
Broaden the types of stem cell research allowed with federal funds _ "I hope with a veto-proof majority," she added in an Associated Press interview Thursday.
All the days after that: "Pay as you go," meaning no increasing the deficit, whether the issue is middle class tax relief, health care or some other priority.
There are 32 days to turn this from a dream into a reality. Make it happen, one seat at a time, by getting out the vote where you live.
A formula for success:
100actions.com + 50-State Turnout = A Democratic Victory
But that formula only works when you multiply it by thousands of individuals, each doing their part to spread the word to their friends, family and neighbors.

Nothing about Iraq? I hope Nancy fixes that oversight toute de suite.

No Brother Left Behind: Neil Bush gets $5 million from NCLB

Would you expect anything less? We already know how brother Jeb tried to ram Neil Bush's education software through the Florida schools under NCLB last year. And just two weeks ago, a scathing report by the Inspector General blasted the Department of Education for breaking the law in favoring inferior products from Bush administration supporters as well as not following a number of laws regarding NCLB.
And now, we find out that Neil Bush's educational software company, Ignite! Inc. will receive around $5,000,000 in 2006 ALONE. And how good is his software at providing students with the essential skills to actually learn and be competitive with other countries?
The President's younger brother Neil takes a different tack: He's selling to the test. The No Child Left Behind Act compels schools to prove students' mastery of certain facts by means of standardized exams.
forty-percent
Your personal beliefs are all that matter, other people with beliefs modeled after religions five times older than that of Christianity, or simply beliefs of their own are all fools. You will sell your vote to anybody that says they will impose your personal beliefs on all of us as a whole, here and around the world. Turning a blind eye when your chosen officials show weakness and stupidity by taking the fight where the real enemy was not and letting the ones who sucker punched all of us as a whole run and hide. The mountains in Afghanistan should have been turned into an 18 hole golf course with ponds and sand traps, most importantly a big American flag right in the middle of it on top of Osamas grave. For the victims of Sept 11, families to go and feel a little better! But instead we marched on a nation that had not attacked us but most of it's inhabitants we knew hated us. We were gonna force them to be free like us in the name of freedom. You don't even notice that Democracy was already in place all around, Hammas in Palestine, Hezbollah in Lebanon, both democratically elected, both at war with our ally Israel. Dangling the best people our nation has to offer in hostile territory like bait to enforce our version of freedom. Arms, legs, livers, intestines, and brain matter scattered everywhere and you say it wont stop until "victory" (everybody agrees to be free as you want them to be). Move our troops to Afghanistan, the people who we should be killing will follow, that is for sure! No attacks for five years? How absurd! I beg to differ, now we are being attacked every fifteen minutes, boom, another leg, boom, another daddy, boom, another mommy gone!
If you are the forty percent, you have been sold out for your vote by people that care nothing for your values, just your vote. The only freedom getting pushed around here is freedom for big business to cut and run on American labor by outsourcing. We are literally putting America in a Chinese pawn shop to fund all these futile efforts.
You are the new republican party, the religious republican liberals. That's right liberal! Liberal with money. Liberal with blood!
We need a new democratic Conservative, pro-gun (to protect our personal freedom from the forty percent), pro-choice (let everybodys god judge people for their choices, not our government!), pro-America (it's time to take our flag away from the forty percent). The hypocrites have got it dirty enough! We need to learn from our mistakes I.E.: If your not gonna kill em all, you can't kill them at all! Hello! Vietnam! This must be our democratic theme song!!!!!!!!

Day One and Two sound great!
How 'bout throwing in a little "Reform DHS and FEMA" for Day 3?
At one time the Republicans could attack her plan. After 14 years of mismanagement and no oversight under Republican rule, this plan looks like much need relief...by the middle class as well as the working poor.
Here is a scary thought Pelosi would be third in line for the presidency. God help us.
In a debate on October 3, Massachusetts Lt. Governor and candidate for Governor, Republican, Kerry Healey warned Massachusetts voters about going back to a time when "the people's business was done behind closed doors by just one party, and with special interests coming before the interests of the taxpayers". I think she makes a great case for why we should be electing Democrats to the U.S. Congress in November. Isn't she describing exactly what we have going on in Washington right now?
