Dean On Bush's Latest Failing Grades On Iraq

October 24, 2006

Today, the Center for American Progress Action Fund released its latest report card on the Bush Administration's failed Iraq policies. The report gave failing grades, two D's and three F's, to the White House's policies on Iraqi security and stability, governance and democracy, economic reconstruction and their impact on U.S. national security. The report notes that, "Iraq is on the brink of collapse, with growing violence, increased sectarian tensions and divisions in the Iraqi national government, and few significant advances in Iraq's economic reconstruction. All indicators point to the utter failure of President Bush's strategy for Iraq." [Center for American Progress Action Fund, 10/24/06]

"We need a change of course in Iraq, not just a change in rhetoric and more spin from the Bush Administration,” said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. “Two weeks from election day, the Bush White House is simply trying to change their tune on their failed ‘stay the course’ Iraq policy rather then recognizing the need to change the policy itself. Democrats are offering a new direction in Iraq that includes a phased redeployment of our troops."
