Governer Dean Does Connecticut
Because CT Bloggers are so awesome, you can check out Governor Dean campaigning with CT Dems, like Congressional candidates Chris Murphy, Joe Courtney and Diane Farrell and Democratic Senate nominee, Ned Lamont.
Thanks, Spazeboy, for the video!

Diary at Daily Kos about Howard Dean being right about Iraq again last December.
Hey, did Howard Dean forget about the 19th District in New York???
It is all of 45 minutes. The Hall Campaign would love to see him and we are a true grassroots...he would have been proud to see democracy in action.
To Tracy Russo and all the other contributors to this site, thank you for allowing me to express my opinions...
If the polls hold true on Election Day, and there isn’t a surprise turnout of stalwart Republicans, the Democrats can expect to take the House and possibly even the Senate. If they are fortunate enough to take back Congress, they will have managed it without the benefit of a strong national platform or an agreed upon compact promising reform, like the Republicans’ contract of 12 years ago.
Which is why after the election would be the perfect time for the Democrats to deliver a promise to Americans reassuring them that they made the right choice. When the new Congress enters office in 2007 it will be the perfect time for the Democrats to announce their promise to “Return the Country to an Era of Good Governance.”
Coming after the election, it will not look contrived, like the Republican’s “Contract with America.” It would be a promise made at the beginning, not the end of the term, to return the nation to an era of honest government when political leaders put the concerns of their country ahead of concerns for their own careers.
They can start with the number one concern on every voters mind, the conflict in Iraq. One truism seems to have escaped most people: we won the war, but we lost the peace. We overthrew their government and deposed their dictator. By any historical measure, we won the war. But what came afterward has been nothing but short-sighted planning with disastrous results. We need to get out of Iraq immediately. Our troops have become nothing more than helpless bystanders at someone else’s civil war. It is time for other concerned nations in the region to take our place as peacekeepers. Countries such as Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan should step up and replace American soldiers as the peacekeepers in Iraq. Stability in the region has greater meaning for them than it does for us and Muslim soldiers will earn a deeper respect and trust among the mostly Muslim populace of Iraq.
The next major concern for most Americans is the economy. It is simply unbelievable that as the nation’s gross domestic product rises, the real value of the average American’s income is falling. Never has a rising tide lifted so few boats. The policies of the Bush administration and the GOP dominated Congress have led to a circumstance where the rich are getting richer and the rest of us are paying for it. Tax cuts for the wealthy are not working. We need breaks for the poor and middle class and a stiffer tax obligation on our wealthiest earners. They have reaped enough over the last six years, it is time they started paying some of that money back to the people who are doing the real work.
Another damaging effect of the Republican economic policies has been the tremendous rise in the national debt, which has doubled under this administration to an all-time high of $9 trillion. It takes an awful lot of gall to come into office with the highest surplus ever, turn it into a record deficit and then watch the President pat himself on the back when he reduces his own deficit to a still outrageous sum of $250 billion. We need real fiscal responsibility. Americans are prepared to do whatever it takes to get our country back into fiscal sanity and solvency. But our leaders need to make a commitment to balancing the budget. That means building revenue as well as restraining programs. Too much of our government is being paid for by other countries.
We can also reduce our debt by changing the nature of our defense policy. It is time that we stop being the beat cop for the rest of the world and work more with our allies. We can let other countries take a lead role in peacekeeping operations in parts of the world that are far away from the U.S.
It is time to remake our military. Instead of building an expensive arsenal designed to take out the Soviet Army, we need to invest more money in our soldiers, and teach them more about the language, culture and values of the people we are sending them to protect.
Now would be a good time for Democrats to remind the country, that we were the original party of strong values. The party needs to reach out to members of all faiths and remind them that the Republicans have shown to all that they have no monopoly on values -- they certainly don’t have a monopoly on faith. I am hoping that this mid-term election will conclude with a great number of Democratic victories in predominately red states. The party needs new leadership that understands the faith and values of citizens in the interior states. For the last 30 or so years, religious people have felt excluded from the Democratic Party. This would be an ideal time to welcome them back to the party and remind them of how they were taken for granted by the Republicans. It would also be a good time to let citizens know that all religions must be protected and not to let just one faith have control over the politics of the nation as Republican Party did.
We need to bring back real values, like honesty, competence and a commitment to work for what’s best for the country, not what’s best for the party. The Republicans had their chance and all they did was line their pockets and overstep their boundaries. If America puts the Democrats in power it will be because they are looking for a change in direction that will make this country great again. The party leaders should take that cue and deliver a commitment to “Return the Country to an Era of Good Governance.”
For those out of staters who have seen the polls here in CT, and who realize the importance of this nationally watched race for the Senate here, I plead with you. This race is a forum on YES to an Illegal Invasion where our boys are getting killed in large numbers (what, 70 so far this month) or NO, start some plans for withdrawal!!
Seems that this Vision has been lost. And I know that so many of you have been working in your own states, but if any of you can come and spend even one day on phones or knocking doors, it makes a big impression that you are from another state and find it so important that Ned wins this thing! WE NEED YOUR ENERGY .
If you have not done the Family & Friends postcards available on Ned's site, please do so today. If you know ANYBODY in this state, have a post card sent to them asking for a vote for Ned. You can even customize your own card via the site.
Remember the feeling of Triumph on Primary night when Ned won, and you had helped in that? Well, we need it again. The Vision of Lieberman in a Victory Pose on Election night should motivate all of you to help get rid of him!
Thanks
well at least it wasn't Bill Clinton DOING CT, I know he was OK as a Prez. But he is such an embarssment to the party. Can't he just fade away?
And sad to say perhaps, but ned is a washed up has been, before he got started.
even the party faithful aren't going to buy that crap about just stand up and walk out from Iraq. Leaving all of the Iraqis to fend off the Jihadii cretins intent on intituting sharia law on every man woman and child in a country who has had a taste of what it means to be free- sort of, is, or would be criminal.
If the Democratic Party were serious about taking back the Senate, as opposed to simply punishing progressives who stand up to the DSCC/DLC, they'd step up and do as much to get Ned elected as the Republican Party is doing to get LIEberman elected.
It appears there has been little support for Ned Lamont. This is shameful. Lieberman is a Bush lapdog and deserved to lose the primary. "Turncoat Joe" has too much loyalty on the DSCC. Senator Pryor, of Arkansas is one who unabashedly supported Lieberman over the duly selected Democrat, Net Lamont. Come on Senator, Pryor, your job is to elect Democrats, not turncoats.
I think our positions are right on, EXCEPT for our position on illegal
immigration. The house Republicans are right, secure the borders first, then worry about the more contentious issues.
"Securing the borders" is as viable a statement as "staying the course".
The Republicans are not really interested in securing anything except a supply of cheap exploitable labor for their corporate cronies.
All they are doing is putting up a big show and jeopardizing peoples' lives in order to have a campaign issue.
If we want to stem the flow of illegal immigration, we must first crack down hard on the employers who are unwilling to pay even the less than poverty level minimum wage, and give their employees decent working conditions. They don't want to use US workers in these jobs, because Americans will go elsewhere, or blow the whistle on them. Illegal immigrants, who are depending on these jobs for money for their families at home, won't complain, because they are told up-front that they will be deported if the do.
Then we must re-negotiate NAFTA, CAFTA, and the other not-so-free very expensive "free" trade agreements to stop dumping of cheap subsidized agricultural and other products on our neighbors to the south, which has done so much to destroy their economies, particularly their farm economies and created economic refugees who are willing to risk their lives to come here. These people aren't coming here because they are being treated well, they are coming here because they and their families can't live on what little they make at home.
Until we correct these conditions, all the fancy "surveillance" techniques and Berlin Wall approaches are just so much very expensive window dressing, which only benefits the government contractors who are also Republican cronies.
Joe L put me 'in mind' of Benedict Arnold from the Revolutionary War. He also helped, then
crossed over to the 'enemy', and might have caused the capture and hanging of a young Connecticut schoolteacher/spy in the process.
Where as 'good Old Joe' has't actually done that yet, think of the effect he is, and will have on the Democratic Party in Connecticut!!?!
Sad to say, things did NOT turn out well for Benedict Arnold, and i hope the same goes for Good Old Joe!!!!!!
I can't get it off my mind the thought that the Democratic Party is always saying that they are pro gay and pro abortion. If you were to drop that from the normal view points of democrates, you would probably be undefeatable. I have been a Democrate all my life, but I am continually disappointed at the thought that Democrates are always behind these completely immoral things. We should be telling the american public that it's not that we are for abortion, because we have not individually taken part in an abortion, it's just that we feel that we should be showing love and concern to those who have decided to have an abortion, not hate or condem them. We should also be telling them that we don't necessarily believe in homosexuality, but we believe that we should show love to all and let God do the judging and let us be there to show them love, and should they want counseling or have questions, we would simply tell them that we don't look at it the way do and believe that it is not right. Whether you're intelligent or not, we all know what is right and what is wrong, it's wrong to kill innocent babies, it's wrong to have sex with the the same sex. The rear end, or the mouth were not made as sex organs, my Lord think about. Where gays are concerned no one is telling them the truth, and the whole world knows it but the democrates.
Like, yeah, BSer, the Republican cover up of a congressman who can't keep his hands off the page boys, and the fact that the K-street lobbyists regularly hire hookers for Republican legislators, and the fact that the Bush administration lied to start a war which has killed thousands, 3000 of whom are our own, the fact that they constantly turn their backs on the teachings of Christ and pander to the rich while denying the working people assistance when they are having hard times. Or didn't you read that part in the Bible about "What you do to the least of these you do to me"?
Oh yeah, that makes the Republicans such fine upstanding examples of morality. Yeah, right, sure it does.
Or didn't you read all those passages in the Gospels about how Jesus REALLY felt about hypocrites? Something about sounding brass and tinkling cymbals comes to mind as does the piece about "whited sepulchers and the part about driving the money lenders out of the Temple.
Oh, yeah, the Republicans are so freaking moral. NOT!
The End: Cutting Down the Middle Class or the Davis/Carnarvon Conspiracy nearly realized.
Before you (the Middle Class) slip into a state of unconsciousness, read this. This November elections are rigged. Time is running out for the Middle Class and it will hang, reduced to nothing by a renewed aristocracy that nearly succeeded in the American Civil War.
Wake up! The tarnished American image in the world, the loss of habeas corpus, secret spying on Americans, changes in credit laws, reduction of jobs, low wages and medical benefits, foreigners running our seaports, all part of the plan. The Radical Right is in position to strike the fatal blow to the Middle Class. Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld are heirs political and otherwise of the old aristocracy of Jefferson Davis and Lord Herbert 4th Earl Carnarvon of Great Britain. The radical right politic arm in Maine is the Republican leader Paul Davis who is doing his best to subdue the people of Maine. All of these politicians have direct ties to the world that Ike warned us about in his address to the nation.
Strange days have found us! President Bush family is right out of the military complex of the World War I (Black Jack Pershing’s time). Cheney has ties with the world of Republican Senator Wollop of Wyoming whose sister married 7th Lord Carnarvon after WWII.(Note: Lord Carnarvon and Jefferson Davis designed the invasion of the Union from Canada to crush the North. Canarvon move troops and made ships and arms to add the South. William T. Sherman said that Jefferson Davis planned to take over the entire United States, not just succeed form the Union. After the Civil War, Jefferson Davis returned to Great Britain. Lord Carnarvon created the nation of Canada, all with the future in mind). Today, in Maine, the Republican Party Leader Davis’s kin, and families descendent from the leading generals of the Confederacy wait for the tide in American politics to change in their favor and enjoy the spoils of the Radical Right movement. Over in Great Britain, the present day Lord Carnarvon and Queen Elizabeth II wait for a win for the old aristocracy on both sides of the Atlantic. ( All guns are being collected i.e. Australia and camera spying all over Great Britain. Gold is being removed from the common man.)
Yeah common! The Middle Class MUST STOP the unaccountable and unverifiable electronic voting that will be held in several states. THE VOTE IS RIGGED TO FAVOR THE RADICAL RIGHT IN ITS FINAL POLITICAL BATTLES! There will be no tomorrows for the liberal republican moderate Middle Class.
RISE UP NOW AND DEMAND A FAIR ELECTION - PROTECT IT WITH TROOPS AND POLICE.
DEMAND VARIFIABLE PAPER TRAIL.
VOTE FOR MODERATES, REJECT THE FAR RIGHT, NOW!
SAVE THE MIDDLE CLASS, NOW!

There are 2 major issues that our Democratic candidate's are not using effectively, they are.
The National debt. Our children should be screaming at their parents to vote away the Republicans who have landed our kids in so much debt, they and our grandchildren will be paying off for this generations national debt for many, many years to come. This is an effective response to the better economy argument.
Communications. Why won't the administration talk to the Iranians and the North Koreans. It's just common sense that most of the problems in this world are the result of bad or no communications. Lets talk to all of our adversaries and keep talking and negotiating. Talk is a lot cheaper than all of the other options.
Toetoe, you've got some good points.
Why aren't the Democrats screaming about the national debt, and the unfair, unequal taxation of the poor and middle class while pandering to the rich? Framed correctly, this issue could be the straw that breaks a lot of camels' backs.
As for communications, I think that the public needs more education than what they've been getting through the national media before they can really understand how the drugstore (as in wannabe) cowboy tactics of the Bushie administration have destroyed our credibility, and caused us more problems than they've solved throughout the world. Most people don't read foreign papers, or go to foreign media on the web. I think that it would be an education for them if they did.
