Employee Free Choice Battle Heats Up

Posted by on February 14, 2007 at 02:27 PM

Last week, the Employee Free Choice Act was introduced in the House. The bill would make it less difficult for workers to unionize. Democrats support the legislation, but Republicans don't like it one bit. Why?

MSNBC.com's First Read gives us a big hint:

"Deep-pocketed corporate lobbying groups have joined together to defeat the proposal, today announcing the launch of a new coalition to coordinate their activities...

To counter, the AFL-CIO will be holding over 60 events next week in Congressional districts nationwide to highlight the importance of passing this bill.

For more on why the Employee Free Choice Act is urgently needed in this day and age, read my last post on it.

Unfortunately there are Republi-lites who will help them.
They are already talking about selling out the American workers on Fast Track.
I guess the DNC/DLC didn't listen to the message the American people sent in 2006.
We'll have to send another one in 2008.
We need to fire more phony "centrist" Republi-lites and Republicans in 2008!

When I was 20 years old, I tried to unionize the employees in the plant I worked at but, the union vote fell short. Some of the dummies were bought off by the company for a ten cents/hr. raise.
The sad reality is that the word "union" has a negative connotation. Thanks to corrupt union leaders like Hoffa. However, passing a law that makes it easier to unionize is only a fraction of the solution.
As long as companies can out-source with impunity, the problem of America becoming poorer while the poorer nations become richer, will continue. YOUR children are going to pay tommorow more then we are paying today for Washington's folly!
Corporate lobbyist pushed for NAFTA that both Democrats and Republicans voted for. Corporations simply pack up and go overseas, leaving fewer and fewer jobs for more and more Americans (and Mexicans competing for the same).
This is the solution to unions, health care, retirement and living wages. Thus, assuring higher dividends for large share holders.
Incidentally, no medicare or social securiy taxes are imposed on these earnings. Insulating large share holders from contributing to America's society that originally made them profitable corporations. Leaving the swindled American worker holding the bag.
Hell, Ross Perot told the nation this was going to happen!
It's sad, the American people give away their power and dignity. Maybe it's guilt for having so much opportunity. Well, at least we have those corporate lobbyist to control congress and keep them focused on the future health of corporate America.
As opportunities vanish (because we can only sell so many cars and I-pods to each other) and that obstructive middleclass thins, crime will take off. Isn't America a more violent and vicious place today than twenty years ago? If you don't believe that, then leave your doors unlocked! Americans will be so distracted by crime and economic hardship, that Gov't will be completely commandeered by multi-nationist lobbyist.
Stop having misplaced priorities. I don't have children, but you do. You are screwing them by letting the Federal Gov't. run wild! Participation one damn day every two or four years by voting, isn't being involed. To hell with Britney and her crotch, focus America. There really is a battle for our freedoms and opportunities, and the people are losing that battle.
The American revolution begun in the churches because, like today, it's a moral issue. But today, the churches are dead. Apparently, they just say, "It's in God's hands". I guess that's what they said in the 1770's, then went home and waited. God gave us hands and a big brain to do for ourselves that which we must.
The CEO's and the other 2% of America's wealthiest have their villas in the Caribbean and other locations, and that's where they'll be when the shit hits the fan! We'll be here sucking it up.

But today the unions and The New Direction Democrats have turned their backs on the American worker, and have opted to support the Illegal Aliens here to take our jobs. Wake up Democrats! Come home to the American worker! We're still here, and we remember!
