Meet the Candidates
Posted by on February 2, 2007 at 03:55 PM
So what happens when you take thousands of Democratic activists and a handful of amazing Democratic candidates and throw them together? Some kind of wonderful.
"Meet the Candidates" offered Democrats a chance to have some one-on-one time with the 2008 hopefuls. The set-up was like this: each candidate had their own suite to set-up as they wish. Democrats swarmed into the hall leading to the suites and popped in and out of rooms, chatting, grabbing a snack or two and sizing up each potential nominee. All-in-all it was a little bit like a greek rush week and a lot of fun.

Need that link for the photo slideshow!!!! The day was awesome and more to come. The energy, the hope, the vision, the opportunity . . . WOW!
My favorite candidates are:
1. Barack Obama
2. John Edwards
3. Bill Richardson
And, I may consider:
1. Wesley Clark (if he gets in this thing)
2. Mark Warner (if he gets back in this thing)
3. Hillary Clinton
I will not consider:
1. Dennis Kucinich
2. Joseph Biden (because of the way that he talked about African Americans); I am African American and was offended by his remarks.
3. Tom Vilsack
4. Christopher Dodd
5. The man that was in politics back in the 1970s (I forgot his name, but he is in his 70s, I think and I don't feel that he could get elected).
Lavonia,
I think you might be pleasantly surprised with Chris Dodd. I understand he made a good impression at the DNC Winter convention today, and he is my Senator and not bad.
I currently have no one favorite, and will continue to observe all of them.
The problem with Obama is that he waffles on issues.
We need stand up candidates, and I don't see him as one.
Hillary, definitely NOT! No "free" traders need apply!
Richardson, Edwards, Clark, if he runs, yes. Tehy are all possibilities.
I have no problem with Vilsak, my relatives in the midwest like what he's done in Iowa. Anyone with concrete reasons to discount him, I'd like to hear them.
I'm for the Wester (Wesley Clark) 1st then (Hillary Clinton) 2nd.
They are all great. This is the strongest field in a long time. They all certainly have a unique perspective to bring to the public debate.
I hope they all do play nice together. And make it point to strengthen the Democratic message while at the same time distinguishing themselves from one another.
It was a GREAT meeting to watch on cspan earlier.
I enjoyed each speech. My favorite being the General's of course. As being the most humble, genuine and authentic and NOT appearing a bit "slick," but they were all good.
I was also quite moved by Sen. Dodd's speech. Surprisingly bringing me to tears a few times.
GOOD job DEMOCRATS!
RUN WES RUN!!!

2ND TIME TRYING TO POST HERE AGAIN
hI PAMMY hi DORS
Yes Pammy your guy Dodd did a good job. I was glad I managed to catch the whole thing.
Wes was a bit subdued but rightfully so. He's not a slick politician type. Genuine, honest, humble, extremely experienced. He doesn't need to get all pushy or throw a bunch of stuff up in the air to see if it sticks or say a bunch of stuff that really has 2 or 3 different meanings....... or innuendo.
And wow Dennis is sure angry! YIKES!
Lavonia -
I am number 5.
What can I do to change your mind and count on you for your support?
I like Wes Clark, John Edwards and Barrack Obama.
Wes Clark for president, with either of the two as his VP sounds good. Hillary has too much baggage, besides there has to be someone out there not named Clinton or Bush that could make a good president! Support publicly financed campaigns.
surely you jest! McCain the mental redux/flip flop omg the thought of it being between the two of them gives me night mares in the day!!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I worked all day and didn't see any of the festivities. I saw a bit on the nightly news of hillary saying she would end the war in 2009! wow! now that's a f$cking plan! vote for the war, kiss bush's royal ass for 6 years and then float in like an angel and end the war. thanks so much hillary! how f$cking nobel of you. the common people aren't quite as ignorant as you think. we know what you've been up to the past 6 years. the clintons and the bushes are so tight! it's because they are just alike. hillary clinton is what's wrong with the democratic party. hillary clinton makes me so sick.
IT'S GORE 2008!
THE MAN IS UP FOR THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE AND AN OSCAR! HE'S LOADED WITH MONEY BECAUSE HE INVENTED THE INETRNET -REMEMBER? WE CAN'T GO WRONG! He's the man in 2008.
that's INTERNET.
I can spell.
I just can't type.
especially as fast as my brain moves...
on a lighter note...I watched Alexandra Pelosi's film about the evangelical christian movement on HBO. I had seen the end but tonight I watched it all and it was really enlightening. and here I am nestled and smothering and suffocating in the layers of fat and bigotry that we call FALWELL LAND. I thought I knew it all but this film showed me a few things. very very interesting. do you think she somehow had the inside scoop on haggert? she has him on film talking about how christians have the best sex. too bad in his case it was PAID FOR, DRUG INDUCED AND HIS WIFE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT! I've used that line here already but it's worth repeating. what has happened to haggert? and foley? have they disappeared off the face of the planet? did they mysteriously vanish? were they tucked up under a rug like all the other filthy dirty secrets of the bush administration?
I couldn't even bear to watch Keith O tonight. I needed a break from the news. I haven't kept up with the day in politics. I can't tell you the death toll in Iraq but I know a lot of people have died today just like every day. I have been doing a lot of painting with big thick brushes and as I rinse them out in the sink, I always think about people in Iraq who don't have access to clean cold water. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE THERE? I can't go very long without thinking about it. maybe a couple hours at the most. that is the main issue with me. Iraq. that's why I will NEVER vote for queen hillary. we need to squash her out not so she won't be a nuisance later. maybe if we just ignore her she will go away. I guarentee you that the rich celebrity liberals will jump behind GORE long before hillary. and if we keep pushing the fact that she has supported the war, a lot of working class people (who are too busy working and too tired to keep up with the news) will pay attention too. you don't think the 2 dynasties have a little secret plot do you? "give us 8 years- we'll give you 8 too. we own the voting machines" now you are thinking "HOW COULD SHE SAY THAT ABOUT THE CLINTONS?" It's because I don't like the. that's why.
ok
I'm off to watch the last episode of Rome. can't wait til BILL M comes back in 2 weeks! I'm so glad to still have the freedom of speech to come here and rant and give an opinion and cry and bleed and BEG THE PARTY TO STEP AWAY FROM THE QUEEN! just let her self destruct. stay away from her.
have a nice night!
I think Wes Clark is more qualified and would make a better president than Hillary Clinton!
mr scarpia,
do you want the info or not?
((((( BARCK OBAMA / JOHN EDWARDS 2008!)))))
No stealth WAR Mongering HAWKS!
No Stealth Republicans
No wierd looking "creepy" dudes
No FAKES and PHONIES
I thought Obama lived up to the hype. He is a great man. I loved Edwards's speech. I was pleasantly surprised by Senator Dodd's great speech. Wes Clark is a man who is speaking out because he loves our country so much. And, while I am not excited about Senator Clinton [I mean, no one else in the world but Bush and Cheney would have started the Iraq war, but you voted for it], she made an impressive pitch that she knows how to fight a campaign and win.
Thanks Tracy for arranging such a wonderful opportunity for bloggers. You all can see what we did in text and video at Blue Jersey.
I support JOE BIDEN. He's has the best experience and plans to address the important issues of our time, especially in foreign policy.
I can't support Hillary because she is to polarizing a candidate. As many or more people dislike her as like her. She would have a very hard time getting elected. If she were to be the Democratic nominee there would be a huge amount of negative campaigning from the Republicans and especially special interest groups that oppose her.
Obama has a promising future. He is a very dynamic candidate. However, he does not have much experience yet. It is too soon for him to become President. He would make a great Vice Presidential candidate. If he were to become VP he would gain the experience to become a strong President in eight years. I vote for Obama to be the VP candidate of the party. This would be a positive movement for the Democratic Party and for America as a whole.
I will not consider:
1. Dennis Kucinich
2. Joseph Biden (because of the way that he talked about African Americans); I am African American and was offended by his remarks.
3. Tom Vilsack

#5 is obviously George McGovern, and like Dennis Kucinich, he represents what the Democratic Party could be at its best. You claim that he can't get elected, and in 1972, he did lose by a landslide, just as Barry Goldwater did in 1964, but just 16 years later, a man crazier and more destructive than Goldwater got in.
It's time we took advantage of the fact that the conservative movement has finally been revealed as the scam it always was and got some real leftists elected. Any Democrat who still buys into that Reaganomics scam, such as the Clintons, needs to step aside and make way for a revolution.
