Dean: Democrats Offer a New Direction in Iraq

Posted by Michael Link on March 28, 2007 at 09:09 AM

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement following the Senate vote to change course in Iraq:

The House and Senate have now done what the American people hired us to do - they stood up to President Bush and made it clear that there will no longer be an open ended commitment to a failed strategy in Iraq. Democrats are united behind a plan to change course in Iraq, effectively fight the war on terrorism and get our troops the resources they need and get them out of a civil war. President Bush and Republicans in Congress now have an opportunity to forge a new direction in Iraq. I hope they take it.

What's that I hear? It must be a collective sigh of relief by the American people.

They voted for change and the leadership to get it done. And now they know that it still exists in this country...with the Democratic Party that they remember from FDR and JFK.

Maybe we will get lucky and Bush will sign the bill for the holidays? Fat chance. He'll probably veto it just for spite. How dare we question his military expertise.

It's been so long time since the voters have seen anything but incompetence and corruption. It's a sign. There still may be hope that we can confront the problems that plauge this country. There's isn't going to be any more excuses or neglect with Democrats providing real oversight.

It's a sign. It's a sign that America is ready to move on again...without the Republicans.

The Democrats will probably have to go to the wall on this one.Fine,go to the wall.junoir has never had anyone tell him no and he doesn`t like it.This is a terrible place to implement parenting classes, but apparently the Democratic Party has been elected to do what mommy & daddy bush could not.Firm boundaries and be ready for the games.
