Duncan Hunter

Biography: Duncan Hunter

Hunter is a 13-term Congressman from California who was the chair of the Armed Services Committee until Republicans lost control of the House in 2006. He rarely has met a defense program he does not like, and his only criticism of the Bush Administration is that they didn’t increase defense spending enough. Perhaps coincidentally, his major campaign contributors are all defense-related. Outside of radically increasing defense spending, Hunter has few well-defined issue positions, though as a Congressman representing a wealthy San Diego district, he is opposed to immigration, and proposed using the military to deport illegal immigrants.
