Democrats Win Upset Victory in Morris Township

Posted by Stephanie Taylor on May 2, 2007 at 09:58 AM

Last night, New Jersey Democrats celebrated a huge upset victory in Morris Township, where Jeff Grayzel became the first Democrat elected to the Morris Township Council in over 30 years. Thanks to Blue Jersey for bringing this to our attention.

In the final tally, Jeff Grayzel beat Republican Joe Calvanelli by 441 votes. This is the first time since Watergate that a Democrat was elected in Morris Township. After his victory, Grayzel said:

"We've been telling people change is coming, change is coming. Well, change is here."

Sometimes people protest with the ballot box not in the streets...and it is a stronger and more earth changing event.

Congratulations to Jeff Grayzel and to all who worked so hard to make this happen. But the real victory is for the citizens of Morris Township for making their intentions clear.

We are the Deciders.

I`m really happy for Jeff and the Democratic Party on this also. However, after being around the planet for a while now,I`m concerned that the Democrtatic Party learns what they need to in order to not screw up their opportunity. We have gone through these political swings since I can remember. The repubs wait around and pound away until they get their shot again and eventually the Democrats get lazy enough where they screw up.If we keep the peoples business as a priority,we won`t allow these thieves in the chicken pen.Every time they get in the devastation is greater, and I don`t think we`ll survive the next one. That is if we survive this one!
