Giuliani Reaps Financial Benefits From Energy Industry

Rudy Giuliani is raising money hand-over-fist in Texas--partly as a result of his Houston law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, one of the most high-profile lobbyists for the oil, gas and energy industries. From the New York Times:

The firm is perhaps the nation's most aggressive lobbyist for coal-fired power plants, heavy emitters of air pollutants and carbon dioxide, a gas associated with global warming. Environmentalists say the firm played a significant role in persuading the Bush administration to roll back major provisions of the Clean Air Act.

...In addition to collecting $89,000 in contributions from Bracewell partners and employees, Mr. Giuliani has held a fund-raiser in Houston. The firm’s managing partner, Patrick C. Oxford, is a top-shelf Bush fund-raiser with a wealth of contacts within Republican money circles.

...It is difficult to say just how much of Mr. Giuliani’s contributions from those industries stem from his affiliation with Bracewell, but employees of companies in those sectors, including several Bracewell clients, have contributed more than $400,000 to Mr. Giuliani’s campaign so far.

"From clean air to mercury pollution to global warming policies," said Gene Karpinski, president of the League of Conservation Voters, "Giuliani’s firm has been perhaps the most anti-environment voice in Washington, representing some of the biggest corporate polluters."

Giuliani does not "speak truth to power - he speaks out of both sides of his mouth." Unfortunately; Rudi is not the only politician that has partaken from the Big Oil lobby - Hillary is guilty of the same: jump on to the FEC website and check it out.

SOme how, this nation needs to divest itself of "representatives" who succumb to marketing gurus; political analysts; and image consultants.

Some how - the people NEED to let Congress know that we DEMAND a "No Conflict of Interest" legislation that severs the incestuous ties to the globe-trotting multinational corporations: they must relinquish their positions on the boards of these companies! Until the American people REGAIN control over those whom we elect - we will continue to be a commodity with little value.

Hillary needs to be pressed, and pressed hard about her relationship with Jackson Stephens via PROMIS software and the too coincidental timing of Vince Foster's suicide: Whitewater? No. PROMIS.

Unfortunately, Hillary has followed the money; she has delved into the cesspool of bait & switch, rather than staying true to conviction.

Obama: I don't know enough about him. I will research on my own and make a decision.

Kucinich -

A slight man in a "hard to market shell" so his message is overlooked. That is a tragedy. To date, he is the only Congressional leader willing to hold Cheney accountible for the horrendous lies that led this country to war, and yet where are his supporters? Where are the American people?

This country has reached a very serious juncture: strong leadership for the people by the people is the only TRUE resolution.

Don't buy into marketing hype - CONDUCT your own research.

Rudy is the biggest phoney of all the candidates
put together, he has such nerve to tout all he
did for new york city like he was jesus and
waved his magic wand and cleaned up new york
all by himself which is the farthest thing from
the truth, he was the mayor and does deserve
SOME accolates he would never ever have looked
so good if it wasn't for the president of the
united states at the time Bill Clinton who
when he was running for president in 1992 guaranteed nyc would get federal help from dc
if he won the white house cause his plan was
to put new york city and times square as an
empowerment zone that would automatically
qualify new york for federal funds and Rudy
took full advantage of that plan and took all
the credit when the truth is that had Bush sr
been reelected Rudy wouldn't have gotten one
red cent of federal money and new york and times
square would look completely different than it
does now, so let's be real here people, Rudy
really doesn't have anything other than his
dictatorship rules he imposed at the expense of
the black community and violated alot of civil
rights all for his photo op and misinformation
that the right wing media goes along with. I
hope the democratic party doesn't let this farce
to continue, they need to remind the american
people that it was the Clinton administration
that helped Rudy look so good cause I am sick
and tired of their lies and manipulation that
the democrats keep letting them get by with, we
want to see our party not to let Rudy get
away with him being the messiah all by himself
cause if there's one thing Rudy hates is to be
embarrassed by the truth, his arrogance get's
the best of him in those situations.
