Gonzales: It's Worse Than We Thought

Posted by Stephanie Taylor on May 16, 2007 at 10:54 AM

This is a must-read.

James Comey, the former second-in-command at the Justice Department, testified yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The Washington Post called it:

an account of Bush administration lawlessness so shocking it would have been unbelievable coming from a less reputable source.

Comey testified yesterday about an incident in 2004, in which Alberto Gonzales and Andrew Card showed up at the hospital room of then Attorney General John Ashcroft in the middle of the night to demand recertification of the Bush administration's warrantless wiretapping program.

The testimony is shocking. Watch it here.

This goes far beyond previous reports about Alberto Gonzales. Now he just looks like a thug.

We are only beginning to scratch the surface of these shady activities. We need to keep investigating, keep digging and keep up the pressure on the corrupt GOP.

Just imagine what Gonzales and Scalia could do if they both serviced on the Supreme Court together.

Gonzales's White House abuse aborting the Constitutional protections of Checks and Balances reminds one of Richard Nixon dire need for wiretapping Watergate intrusions from Democrats wanting a true accounting of his Totalitarian Executive Privileged Royal Power. As with Nixon and his cronies it is time to impeach them to restore the Constitution of the United States where one needs a court order for government intrusion.
Gonzales must suffer the Attorney General, John N. Mitchell consequence. It is time to reign in King George like King Richard by eliminating the abuses of power.

Will there ever be a day of reckoning for this administration? There are no lows that they will not stoop to. What could have been in that autherization that Ashcroft would have not signed off on it? I was of the thinking the a man who engineered the dismantiling of the bill of rights would have little reguard for something as trivial as rights to privacy, and wiretapping laws. What did Comey mean by fixing it, am I to believe that there was an even bigger plan by the admin. to limit our constitutional rights? When our laws are changed to limit our freedom under the pretences of fighting terrorism, the terrorist have already won a major battle. Am I alone in thinking it is strange that a war on conservitive Islamics is being fought by conservitive Christians? What the world needs less of is the narrow mindedness of conservitism, Liberalism which means open to new ideas and tollerant of others differences, is the only way to insure the freedom that all men (and women) deserve.
