Help, He’s Fallen And He Can’t Get Up

Rudy Giuliani's campaign is still stumbling over the abortion question:

It isn’t so much that Rudy Giuliani’s tripped over the issue of abortion, which everyone knew was going to be a difficult one for a pro-choice candidate to navigate in the context of a pro-life primary.

It’s the amount of time it’s taking him to get back up.

Not only that, but he also is playing the numbers game with abortion and adoption rates in NYC.

When Mr. Giuliani said at the first debate that adoptions had increased 65 percent to 70 percent, he was comparing the last six years of his administration with the previous six years.

He revised the figure at the second debate, to 133 percent, by comparing adoptions in all eight years of his administration with those in the previous eight years.

According to figures from the Administration for Children’s Services, the number of adoptions was increasing before Mr. Giuliani took office and before he created the agency. The total peaked in 1997, at 4,000, and declined, to 2,700, by Mr. Giuliani’s last year as mayor.

This was about a letter to the editor someone posted about 7 good reasons to keep our troops in Iraq. It was truly rather sick. With things so bad there, I wonder how this guy feels now?

"Seven Good Reasons To Keep Our Troops On Iraq Battleground"..scary letter.

Governor Dean was given the honor last recently of speaking in Italy at the organizing of their new Democratic party. One of the people who was there, and is part of that party has posted a journal at Democratic Underground in an effort to communicate with our country on what they are doing.

The Italian Democratic Party: Let's build a bridge.

I am posting it because some might be interested in the reaching out.

Butte,

You DO understand that the DNC is prevented from highlighting, or seen to be showing favortism or anything for any candidates at this juncture, don't you???

Once one is named, they will be able to focus and publish his comments and views. Until then, they cannot. Did you watch Howard Dean on Colbert video, where he cannot discuss any one candidate?

If you are interested in candidates, by all means visit each candidate's own website where it is all spelled out!

"Once one is named, they will be able to focus and publish his comments and views. Until then, they cannot."

So in the meantime it's ok to bash a liberal like Guiliani who is supported by Democrats in NY? Are you serious?

NYC is a great place to live and work -- and Guiliani was responsible for big part of that success.

Why shouldn't we support Rudy? He's a big lib, supports killing babies in the womb and New Yorkers love him. Everyone with half a brain knows he handed the Senator election to Hill. Do you really think he didn't do that on purpose?

BTW Do you like those GOP pictures of Hill looking like someone's wet on her Post Toasties?
If we are as tolerant and as big hearted as we say we are, why are we pictures of Rudy that make him look like a gangster?
Is Obama the only one of us who wants to change the way things are done?

So Pam,

Do us peons have permission to ask what the candidates stand for here? Can we discuss why we like or dislike any particular candidate?

Or is it a big secret that can't be shared until The Candidate is told what to say, and what positions to have?

Speaking of a pro life primary, who are the pro life Democrats (you know what I mean, Democrats who are anti abortion, so don't say we all are - I know that)?

"Or is it a big secret that can't be shared until The Candidate is told what to say, and what positions to have?"

Good question. I am getting sick of the way candidates pander to whatever crowd they are in front of at the moment (Hillary is especially transparent in her patronizing) and they rarely admit who they are at their core.

At least with Guiliani you know who this guy is, and when DEMOCRATS are bashing his pro-abortion stand I start to wonder what the heck Democrats stand for.

Right, Number6. As a party we are supposed to support pro-abortion candidates, aren't we? Yet, here's a whole thread devoted to bashing a pro-abortion candidate. Why?

3wolves1sheep on May 19, 2007 at 07:01 PM

Why? Because Guiliani takes on the label Republican. If he switched parties suddenly he'd be a rock star.
