Bush Administration Deadline of Noon on Tuesday

Posted by Stephanie Taylor on July 31, 2007 at 09:38 AM

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) told the Bush administration that it must resolve the contradictions in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' congressional testimony by noon today. From The Hill:

Specter aides released a statement late Monday that suggested a bombshell to come on Tuesday afternoon.

Alberto Gonzales testified last week about the late-night hospital visit in which he tried to force former Attorney General John Ashcroft to authorize the Bush administration's domestic spying program. His version was different from the sworn testimony of former deputy Attorney General James Comey, who was present at the scene.

Frustrated Democrats have called for a special prosecutor to investigate Gonzales for perjury, while others are preparing to introduce a resolution to impeach.

Unless we kick the legs out from under them now -- and hard! -- we'll never get our Constitution or our dignity back.

Nary a peep on MSM about any impeachment bill. We now know the resolution exists; somebody please light the fire already!

It's been a while since I've commented; I believe noone is serious about change that is decades past due. I remember thinking many times: "Why do we have so many crisis in America?". If each individual experienced as many crisis in our personal lives as the nation and gov't does, it would be easy, even for the guess on Dr. Phil, to realize that a definite course correction is due.

Yet we, the American people do nothing! That brings me to the next question: "Why are so many people willing to do nothing to rescue America?".

To state it simply, the Founding Fathers covered everything they could foresee by way of their knowledge and experience. In no fashion could they see the enslavement of society and gov't today by corporations. No life goes untouched on Capitol Hill by corporate society.

If I have a problem that is difficult to analyze, I reduce it or magnify it and that usually helps in finding the solution. One way is to consider to fortunes of a smaller society in Florida. There are still today in Florida people that think Jeb Bush, the President's brother, was a great governor. This inspite of run away taxation, corporate manipulation of insurance rates and ever increasing and intrusive laws that choke business. As a result of this master management, houses are not selling and home values are falling, insurance companies are still raising rates on people that haven't seen a real increase in their wages for years. People are leaving Florida in search of a better life else where. Even though Bush isn't Governor anymore, his brand of gov't is still here. Florida is in a crisis! Sound familiar? Why? Because Americans do nothing! Why? We have for decades been conditioned to do nothing. It's un-American!

I have never been a conformist. Oh, I look like you and speak like you and I love America ( the old America ), but I'm not like you. I don't accept what I'm told to accept by the Federal gov't. Why? Because the Federal gov't is corupted by corporations (money). They have betrayed the peoples trust for enrichment. They can not police themselves any more than anyone else in power can and we are just too busy trying to make ends meet. The life that some how we find ourselves in. A life that really doesn't make good sense. It's like we're hypnotized in to wanting it.

I still remember when the feds, under Reagan, you know, the stupid Trickle Down guy, torn American farmers apart to make room for the corporate farms. I am not a farmer, but I remember so many of them committing suicide after having the only lives they and their previous generations knew, being taken from them. That's a gov't I can not support!

We have an advantage that the Founding Fathers didn't have. Present day experience. We know deep down in side, very deep down inside that this gov't, democrate and republican alike, is corrupt and will stay corrupt. It is not about to course correct. Why should it? Why should they not benefit from office? Thomas Jefferson was a dope! He died in debt. Why didn't he enrich himself? Because they where men we I fear will never see in American gov't again. They were honorable people with principles. We repress the thoughts that sickens us that this is true. That we, all Americans within the last thirty years, have contributed to a bleak future ruled by a privitized federal gov't.

It is estimated that by the year 2045, that 50% of America's youth will be imprisoned. Prisons today are mostly privately run institutions. Private institutions are profit driven! Profits require inmates, lots of inmates. Your sons and daughters. It's like a scary futuristic movie from the 70's being played out before our do nothing asses!

America is corrupted from within. Corporations have bought our politicians, our gov'ts and us. Government, local, state and federal is becoming privatized just like the scary movies of the 70's.

Solution: Remove everyone from office and vote in clean blood. Stop revoting they back into office. Stop falling for the same old "They're are experienced" crap. They are bought. And most of all stop saying "What can I do about it?" Because I've just told you, be none conforming to corporate lies.

I can't tell you how outraged I am at this party. I have been a registered democrat since 1972 and have never felt so disappointed in the weak kneed, political gamesmanship this party is playing. Wake up!!!! Our Constitution is at stake here!!! Stand for something or you are going to lose me and hundreds of others.

I had really hoped Dean would be a breath of fresh air, but have found him to also be just the same game player as everyone else. How much more blood in Iraq and on American shores (have we already forgotten our abandoned Americans from Katrina?) While you are focused on Republican talking points instead of leading the charge with your own righteous fight, people are suffering and dying in this country and abroad.

When will it be America's turn? When will you stop your bullsh------- around and stand for something? When will everything this country stands for be number one and your political games long second.

I'm appalled at your lack of agressive action - for God sake, what more evidence do you need?

Our soldiers and their families demand it, our America that is slipping away from us both constitutionally and due to trade agreements that are devastating this country and every country around the world demands it; our citizens demand it who know that so much money is going into hand picked contractors pockets that there is nothing left to us to rebuild our country with, and who are robbing us blind. Wake up democrats, or one more democrat is walking out the door.

ragingredhead: It's because Dean is having to deal with so many Republi-lite sell-outs.
You can help the party by finding and encouraging grass-roots populist candidates, and working for their campaigns.
Republi-lites are the ones who support the war, and the "free" trade deals, and generally cave in to K-street and the Republicans on issues. The "Blue Dogs" are some of them.
They claim to be "centrist" but what I learned about finding the center of things in geometry
class didn't put the center that far to the right.
I plan to vote populist even if I have to write in the candidate.
That includes Edwards, who a lot is more populist than Clinton and Obama put together.

Remember when you use to say, "It couldn't happen here! The people won't allow it!"?

Remember when you use to think, "How could we, a Christian nation be mislead to accept anything that resembles the Mark of the Anti-Christ! We'd reconize it for what it is and rebel!"?

Yes, thoughs where the days.

During the Veit Nam War I resisted. I refused to be bullshitted by anyone waving the flag of patroitism in my face. I had Efram Zembilis Jr. (spelling?)- the FBI looking for traitors like myself! I was paranoid! I use to dream delusional dreams of fear at night as wanted men do. Well one of those dreams that I have always remembered, that made such a impact on my paranoid psychi is becoming a reality right before our unconscious eyes. That dream was of a future where all Americans will carry a card, like a credit card. In my dream, when people go to any building, they must swipe that card to show who they are; they're not WANTED BY THE LAW!

Well guess what!

I am not a member of the Populist Party of America, but I do read essays by Brian Trent and identify with the common sense, clearity and spirit of the Treasonous Jefferson, Madison, Washington and the like.

To my amazement, I'm not the only one that is deeply alarmed by the movements of the federal gov't. The story I just read shocked me! My paranoid dream is becoming reality and I didn't even know anything about it going on. We today have either very unwise men in office who ignorantly believe what they do is correct and just, or we today have very diabolical men in office that would crash America - liberty, life and justice for power.

Like the Aesopian Frog tale that Brian illustrates with, I have said the same thing on this blog to you. Am I wise? No, I fear not. If I were, I think I'd be rich. But I know the smells of freedom and for years I've been smelling the faint smell of the Constitution's atrophy becoming stronger and stronger. It's a death watch. This country is morphing into a police state. Now I watch all the paranoids screaming for protection by the All Good Gov't. A gov't controled by the likes of a false prophet- George Bush and his army.

Don't be deceived, they're amongst the Dems too.

Please! let us together purge the American system. Let us not pathetically continue to be told who is the candidate to choose. For those who most offen become front runners are those who subscribe to the rewriting of our Constitution.

There is a powerful and evil group who twist things their way. At any cost wrapped in the sheep's clothing of the American flag.

In the final analysis, terrorism is not to consume us with fear as the current and future regime wants us to be fearful and futher their plans to subterfuge.

The only thing to fear is complacency.

Al is making too much money to stop taking bribs from K Street at this time. Let him become a Billionair before he stops to investigate any Republicans. He wouldn't mind spending a few years in jail to get that rich. If Bush is out of office he can't pardon him. We better be sure
that another Republican don't get in office after Bush.
