Racist Remarks by Giuliani's SC Chair
As Rudy Giuliani campaigned in the Palmetto State today, he faced tough new questions about Arthur Ravenel, the new co-chair of his South Carolina campaign. Arthur Ravenel was appointed to replace his son Thomas Ravenel, who was indicted several weeks ago on federal cocaine charges.
This press release from the Democratic Party details many of Arthur Ravenel's racist public statements, such as:
Arthur Ravenel Jr. called the NAACP the "the National Association for Retarded People" twice in 2001, first at a pro-Confederate flag rally at the Statehouse and then, according to The Post and Courier, "repeated the offending remark during an interview outside the Senate chamber with four print reporters, three of whom had tape recorders running." Ravenel apologized only to people with mental and physical disabilities, saying "No apologies to the NAACP or the national NAACP." Speaking to a New York Times reporter, Ravenel said "they [the NAACP] are the enemy."
Ravenel headlined an event for a white supremacist hate group. On October 9, 1993, Ravenel headlined an event in South Carolina sponsored by the now-defunct Confederate Heritage Preservation Society and the Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), described by The Nation as "America's largest white nationalist organization..[that] represents the reincarnation of the White Citizens Councils that battled integration in the Jim Crow South."
According to the New York Post, "Earlier in his career, he drew fire when he said that white congressmen were operating on 'black time'-- meaning fashionably late."
There's much more. Read it here.
The question now is whether Giuliani will condemn those remarks as he campaigns in the Palmetto State today--or will his own tense history of racial relations continue to haunt him?

Rudy Giuliani is such a phony and flip flops all over the place so even if he did condemn those remarks I wouldn't believe him anyhow. Perhaps Giuliani is a racist too? Why would he even have someone like that even associated with his campaign in the first place? Giuliani can't be trusted anyhow, he flip flops on abortion saying all different things. One minute he says he is against it and hates it then turns around and donates Planned Parenthood. How can you say you hate abortion and then turn around and donate money several times to a place that supports it? Giuliani has been married and divorced something like 3 times. His own son won't even support his campaign. Giuliani can't even run his family right so how can he run an entire country? The answer is he can't and he has no credibility and I'm starting to wonder if he is also a racist by having someone like this associated with his campaign.

All the blog in the world is not going to change a thing. The fact is, the democratic party must stand up to the powers that be. The American people are facing many issues. In my hometown of Longmont, Colorado we are being terrorized by Mexican gangs. Namely Surenos 13. Most members are Mexican Nationals and they are the crime faction in Longmont. Our parks are no longer safe for our children to play T-ball. Yet, why is the Democratic party talking amnesty for illegals? If immigrants from Eastern Europe must go through a background check, why should we have special laws for those who crossed our borders in an illegal manner.
Former mayor Giuliani's comments are nothing compared to what decent Americans must endure in their everyday life. Our homes have been vandalized by gangs and we do not feel safe in our homes due to this allowed terrorism. Anyone in a gang who is not an American citizen should be deported or arrested. I love Longmont, Colorado, but it is not the same town anymore. Most people in my neighborhood want to move out of Longmont. I am not a racist and I'm tired of being so-called PC. I am standing up for my right to a peaceful neighborhood. The Democratic party must look at real issues and real life.
You are all a bunch of hypocrits. Lets see shall we start at the top.
DemocratkickingAss.....its me again. You talk about Guliani can't even run his family. Ole Slick Willie did pretty good getting the ole knob polished in our Oval office as well as all the other women that brought cases against him. Shut up, you breathing up some of my oxygen.
NorvosOrdo....what ever your name is. You are worried about the Arabs and Terrorists coming to the US, yet you want to pull our troops our of Iraq and bring him to the states. That is exactly what they want, so they can bring the fight to our shores............god you people are thick
nyjdem.......what you are feeling is what the Dems want you to think. Bush did what everyone wanted. Kick their ass for coming after us. Then you started listening to the propoganda and they have you now. you had better hope the Dems were right about Mass destruction. Because if they are wrong, when we pull back to the states, what a perfect place for the Arabs to use it on. Off their soil and on ours. Bush wants what is best for america, it is just that alot of people have abandoned it because you are doing exactly what bin laden said, the US has not the stomach for a long fight. I guess we should be praying in mosques.
Ontesr.........You are the only one here using your heads. The rest of em are just party members. Because the can't still get over the 2000 election.
