The Fourth Anniversary of "Bring 'Em On"

Four years ago, when President Bush first uttered the irresponsible "Bring 'em on" taunt, Democrats blasted him for the remark and the White House promptly defended it. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) said at the time:

"When I served in the Army in Europe during World War II, I never heard any military commander--let alone the commander in chief--invite enemies to attack U.S. troops."

So, yes, this was a big deal. And thousands of lost American lives later, it's an even bigger deal.

Years later, President Bush said at a press conference that he would offer "a confession, a regret, something." It wasn't exactly an apology, of course.

He also said at the press conference that when he got home the night of the "bring 'em on" remark, his wife asked, "what did you do that for?" Yet like the administration always does--no matter how right or wrong--they defended the remark anyway. They brushed it off, saying "I don't think people in Iraq who are loyal to Saddam Hussein are going to or not going to attack based on a news conference."

This wasn't just some slip of the tongue. It's a perfect example of why President Bush continues a failed policy in Iraq: arrogance, then stubbornness, then spinning a story to avoid accountability.

What difference does it make? Saying something stupid has never hurt him. He's abused his power a hundred times over. He lied to start a war. He's gotten hundreds of thousands of people killed for no other reason than to kill Sadam Hussein and steal Iraq's oil. Go on and on and on...

And what is the Democratic Congress doing about it? Are they going to impeach him? No. They're sitting on their hands. They're giving bush all the money he wants to continue his war. They're telling the whole world everything he's done over the past six and a half years is just fine. If you get letters from the DNC, DCCC and DSCC soliciting money, they've changed their tune from screaming about IRAQ, IRAQ, IRAQ, over and over to a one sentence reminder.

The Democrats in congress are supporting the war. Its as simple as that.

george bush did make a mistake when he said "Bring em' on" about the Iraqi insurgents, because they haven't given up.

He should have said "Bring em' on" last November when the Democrats won the congress, because he's kicked their asses good and hard, and they did give up.

"I don't think people in Iraq who are loyal to Saddam Hussein are going to or not going to attack based on a news conference."

Oh, yeah? It's a small world; and with modern technology, everyone hears loud and clear with someone challenges them. Bush's taunt became a rallying point for all the factions in Iraq. Five years later we're still dealing with those who see Bush as a barbaric invader who mocked them.

The people in this White House never "think"...they just meet for group hugs at the various conservative think tanks before making their next blunder.

I'd rather have Bush saying "Bring it on" than a democrat saying "Sorry guys, we didn't mean to make you mad." At least President Bush has a spine. Democrats don't. They are too afraid of upsetting people.

I mean seriously, I can get a platoon of blind, French school girls armed with a case a Schlitz and a few baseball bats to defeat the democratic party. The Presdient stood up for America. I can't think of one democrat that has...

Hey Crow Minuteman

As I told someone else on this site, you had better hope he lied about the WMDs. If he didn't tell me, where are they now?
