We’re Too Busy For Health Care...Republican Candidates Skip Cancer Forum

The leading candidates in the race for the Republican presidential nomination skipped Lance Armstrong's forum on cancer last week.
The biggest names in the GOP presidential primary--Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.)--skipped the first-ever forum on cancer sponsored by Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation.
Two Republican candidates who appeared, Sen. Sam Brownback (Kan.) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, promised to rejuvenate a "war on cancer" as president, but disagreed over the need for a federal ban on smoking in public places.
The absence of the first-tier candidates left the floor to Brownback and Huckabee, who are competing for the conservative votes that are so crucial in Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucus.

I'd be careful about snark like this: Barack Obama didn't attend the forum either while Hillary Clinton & John Edwards did. Does this mean he doesn't care about health care either, or are you giving him a pass?

As a cancer survivor of 9 years, I find it interesting as to who attended and who didn't..Thank you for the information.....

Studies have shown that marijuana kills several types of tumors including breast, lung, and brain tumors. A study from the University of Virginia first made these discoveries in 1974, but the study was supressed. I wonder how many cancer patients could have lived if this information had led to further study instead of getting buried.

Giuliani doesn't have to show up for anything! We keep forgetting that he showed up on 9/12. Apparently that's enough.......

The DNC can't come out for or against a candidate. You have noticed that ALL the topics are about the Repugnicants, haven't you? However, we bloggers are under no such constraints :)

I think you missed my point. I know quite well what the DNC can and cannot do re: candidates.
However, it defeats the purpose of pointing the finger at Republican candidates who didn't attend when a Democratic front-runner didn't attend, either. Kinda boomerangs on you.
