Kicking Ass: The Democratic Party's Blog

$9.11

Posted by Michael Link on September 25, 2007 at 09:28 AM

It's almost too outrageous to believe -- a Rudy Giuliani fundraising party, called "$9.11 for Rudy," will actually be attempting to raise that amount per person.

Not very long ago, the Giuliani campaign said in response to worries he would politicize the anniversary: "To say he's politicizing it -- he never would do anything like that."

They're blaming it on kids, who they say came up with the idea.

Yeah, his wife called to let him know that another Hannity listener in upstate NY called to pledge $9.11. And his ex's lawyer called and said to pay them. He's such a family guy.

I remember those "kids" who used to show up on 24/7 news and say Kerry never was wounded in Vietnam and didn't deserve his medals. Giuliani hired these "kids" to run his campaign and that's what they are doing: running it into the ground.

I wouldn't be surprised if his wife (the one he keeps stopping speeches for to answer his cell phone) wasn't one of the "kids" brainstorming such insensitive ideas. After all, she had no problem flaunting her affair with Rudy while his wife and kids were still living in Gracie Mansion.

Bad judgment and outrageous behavior seems to be the hallmark of Republican political strategists and pundits like Ann Coulter. They are all show-offs and no substance. It's rubbed off on all the GOP front running presidential candidates.

Too bad it wasn't exactly "the kids"...

For tomorrow's official campaign event of grassroots house parties across the country, Hoover Institution fellow Abraham Sofaer of Palo Alto, California, is asking for a suggested donation of $9.11.

Abraham Sofaer, for the record, is a leading Republican advocate of preemptive war.

Too outrageous to believe?

Are you kidding me?

I'll tell you what's too outrageous to believe:

700,000 Iraqi's dead, 4 million displaced and a country in ruin and an endless occupation funded by a democratic congress.

A warrantless wiretapping program operated illegally in clear violation of the constitution for years that is then condoned by a democratic congress.

Torture, extraordinary rendition and denial of basic human rights committed by a criminal government and tolerated by a democratic congress.

New Orleans.

Government funded and sanctioned mercenaries killing innocent civilians without accountability.

$9.11 for Rudy is at best a tasteless diversion from the real problems facing America and the world. Want to feel superior to republicans? Grow a set, stand tall and put an end to it!

Defund the war, move HR333 to the floor and impeach this corrupt, incompetent, ignorant, arrogant greedy administration. Then as they're slinking from the oval office turn the case over to the US Attorney and let's put them in prison.

And if the republicans "won't let you," then make them bleed for every obstruction. If they want to filibuster then make them take to the floor all night, every night, but don't you dare keep coming back to us whining about the numbers not adding up so it's not worth it to even try.

You get your sorry butts back in the game and you get right down there in the mud with those frightened, corrupt, greedy republicans who are selling out our rights for an illusion of freedom and taking out loans from China to make Haliburton rich and you score a touchdown for America, damn it!

Hoover Institution

Stephanie,

I knew a conservative "think" tank was behind this. They base everything on exploiting opportunities versus building a concensus.

Well, that may be true if you consider Rudy a kid?

We could come up with Won 07 for Won 08

You know what's more sickening? The performance in the House of Representatives today. See how most of our fine Democrat representatives voted against freedom of speech.

Inside of each one of them lives a Rudy Giuliani.
