Bush: Saddam Killed Mandela

Posted by Stephanie Taylor on September 20, 2007 at 04:51 PM

This makes my head hurt:

In a press conference this morning, President Bush tried to assert that Saddam’s brutal rule over Iraq wiped the country clean of potential democratic reformers--individuals who may have possessed leadership skills like former South African President Nelson Mandela. In doing so, Bush inartfully suggested Saddam killed Mandela.
I thought an interesting comment was made--somebody said to me, I heard somebody say, "Now, where's Mandela?" Well, Mandela’s dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas.

Faiz at Think Progress points out that Nelson Mandela (who is alive) is a strong opponent of the war in Iraq. Before the war, he condemned Bush as "a president who can’t think properly."

David Shuster on for Tucker tonight. He will be interviewing some of the MoveOn people.

I think our party has no idea what it did today. They appear to be clueless. I asked Reid's office how did this bill ever get to the floor? The girl said but he voted no. I said I asked how it got to the floor? Isn't that his job to approve stuff that gets voted on? She seemed clueless.

I feel sad. We seem leaderless today. Our Democrats are afraid to cross the Republicans and will let one of our strongest groups get condemned by Congress.

Where are our leaders?

The term "blithering idiot" comes to mind.
And we're letting this guy continue to run our country?
Be very afraid!

The Senate seems to have had a very Republican attack of hubris.
They are PUBLIC servants.
They need to be made more aware of this fact. Did all of them flunk US govt 101?
WE are the people who vote them into office pay their salaries.
Maybe we ought to email ALL our legislators in DC and remind them of that fact!
WE tell them when to shut up, they don't tell us!

Glad I wasn't the only one that did a double WTF? when I heard GWB this morning regarding Mandela.

One thing is for sure, Bush should never be allowed to speak off script, it obviously hurts his brain.

Hi Kristen! Are you the Kristen in the Midwest?

I could not believe when Bush said that. What in the world was he talking about? "Somebody said... I heard someone say... (he) killed all the Mandelas."

I think he's listening to "the voices" in his head. I think he's totally lost it. No wonder he's not dealing in reality.

The Senate may not be able to stop the cooked up Bush/Cheney war... but they can have a Senate Resolution that they are totally insane.

Oh, you're lucky. I know a Kristen in Midwest who fights like a champ for progressives. She's the real deal. Kristens' are always smart and purrty. ;-)

Indeed it is time for another random obligatory urine toxicology test for Bush....And if he refuses, the Congress should do what did the Texas National Guard!

I almost fell over because I thought somehow Nelson Mandela had died since last night and I just hadn't heard about it yet. Then I checked online and then I thought, that rotten bastard is trying to tie his name to that of Mandela's like a crazy name dropping trick.

Do you think maybe he was thinking about mandalas, as in dream catchers? It actually makes as much sense.

He really does make my head hurt most days. He's probably done as much for Tylenol as for big oil.

Here's why that Senate vote to condemn MoveOn was so very wrong.

We were lied into war, and the Senate attacked the truthtellers

It's revealing of our so-called free-press that not one member of the press corps would ask Bush to clarify what he meant by Mandela being dead.
It was quite a surreal moment to hear the leader of the free world lost in his own jibberish.

Small Countrys like Iraq and others are saying where can we go for safety and better conditions, have mercy on us USA and leave us to work out our differences like you had to when you seperated from Bratian?
