The Bush Report: No Written Petraeus Testimony

Posted by Michael Link on September 7, 2007 at 01:49 PM

According to the Washington Times, the final Bush report that Petraeus will be presenting to the Congress next week will not be based on any written presentation by the General. In fact, it states that the only thing he will have written are his opening remarks to the Congress:

A senior military officer said there will be no written presentation to the president on security and stability in Iraq. “There is no report. It is an assessment provided by them by testimony,” the officer said.

The impression that the White House has given the nation, when it comes to the Bush report, has certainly "evolved" over the months. For more, see ThinkProgress:

To recap, first the public was incorrectly led to believe that Gen. David Petraeus would issue his own report about the situation on the ground in Iraq. Then the Los Angeles Times reported that the so-called “Petraeus report” would “actually be written by the White House.”

Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) then suggested the White House would probably “tweak” the “Petraeus report.” In an effort to put the controversy to rest, Gen. David Petraeus assured lawmakers that the White House was not going to be involved in the “writing” of the report.

And that brings us to where we are today, just days before Petraeus makes his way to way to the Congress. Certainly we can expect the same thing from the Bush report as we've had the entire time -- President Bush will claim "it's working" just like he did (repeatedly) in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. The president will attempt to cherry-pick the data. Then, he'll make excuses for why we haven't made the political progress that was promised.

What makes you think he will cherry pick anything? He's going to sit at that table and stonewall. That's what all the people who serve as the pleasure of this Commander-in-Chief do.

This is going to be the biggest diversion on Capital Hill since the impeachment. It's a show trial when there isn't any crime. Anyone who bought into allowing this man's testimony rather the common sense to dictate the final word on whether our troops stay or go is stupid.

Why are our leadership allowing the administration to let this be a decision over the surge rather than the occupation itself?

And, so...is Congress supposed to grade him, and henceforth the Iraq Occupation, on a curve? That is seemingly what Mr. Bush is doing; throwing a curve!

WE THE PEOPLE, the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION need some Democrats in Congress that will represent the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

WE THE PEOPLE, the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, have been doing all we can to get a democratic candidate to represent the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, but the autocratic DLC CANCER HAS SET ITS ROOTS into the political LEFT'S Democrats and is in the process of metastasizing. Electing a cancerous DLC Democrat of the NEW FAUX-LIBERAL-REPUBLICAN LITE type to further the DLC metastasization of the political LEFT'S Democrats is meaningless to the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, as DLC Democrat NEW FAUX-LIBERAL-REPUBLICAN LITE CANDIDATES do NOT and will NOT represent the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION.

Right now the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATIONS BEST CHOICE IS TO "WRITE IN" --

Mike Gravel for President [NOT DLC] and GRAVEL HAS GRIT

http://www.gravel2008.us/

Dennis Kucinich for Vice President [NOT DLC] and KUCINICH HAS BACKBONE

Remember, Republicans TALK, but NO REPUBLICAN EVER REPRESENTED THE 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, OR WILL EVER REPRESENT THE 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION; EVEN A GOOD (lumpen-proletariat) REPUBLICAN, like Paul, who wants to do the right thing, WILL BE FORCED TO FOLLOW THE REPUBLICAN RIGHT WING EXTREME.

WE THE PEOPLE, the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION of the political LEFT , the Democrats, must do radiation therapy on the DLC NEW FAUX-LIBERAL-REPUBLICAN LITE CANCER in the Democratic Party to save the political LEFT from destruction. Dialectic Rhetoric Therapy has been shown to be a truly beneficial form of radiation therapy for the removal of the huge RIGHT WING DLC cancer from the Democratic Party, the political LEFT, and it would behoove the LEFT to begin using Dialectic Rhetoric Therapy against the RIGHT.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

what else?

It is obviously the white house it is going to wrote this message or at least filter all of the inconvenience true.

This is the facts, and the whole world and the politicians in DC knows this is exactly what's it gonna happen.

The question is:

This time the congress is going to agree with Bush's and let him do it what ever want to do?

This time the majority of the Congress it is going to do business as usual as they did before with the funding of the war?

Pflorez:

You are correct. This groveling sniveling bunch of RIGHT WING FAUX LEFT Democrats will NOT listen to the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION that have the power to cut their voting for the people off on Election Day, and that is what we MUST do. War mongering FACILITATORS AND COOPERATORS Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who are RIGHT WING WAR MONGERING FACILITATORS AND COOPERATORS NEED TO BE HISTORY after the ELECTION. They have control of the House and the Senate now, so we can't do anything about it, but WE THE PEOPLE, the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION can make Nancy Pelosi history after the Election and possibly Harry Reid and get DEMOCRATIC representatives that WILL RREPRESENT the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION. Nancy Pelosi taking IMPEACHMENT of BUSH "off the table" means WE THE PEOPLE MUST get rid of her as she is into politics to feather her own nest, not for concern for the 70% MAJORITY COMMON POPULATION, who she is suppose to represent. Thank the Lord, 1/3 of the Senate & ALL OF THE HOUSE is up for reelection in 2008. Not sure if Harry Reid is in the third that is up for reelection, but hopefully he is, WE THE PEOPLE NO LONGER want his sniveling, groveling, cooperating and facilitating presence in the Senate anymore, either. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

WE MUST REMOVE ALL DLC MEMBERS FROM THE CONGRESS.

the divder-decider vs the do nothing congress...

did we really think we'd get an honest report with no meddling from this divider-decider who obliterated the pottery rule? the same who lied, who blames the iraqis, the media, the democrats, next the vets? who's left? does it matter? we're stuck until either the 2008 elections or until the demos in congress do what they were elected to ... stand up to the decider-divider.

Anyone expecting to hear an honest word from the Bush Administration or anyone profiting from an affiliation with the Bush Administration must be high on dope.

The sad thing here is that the people's votes do not and never will influence the electoral college. Last presidential election, there were states Bush lost in the popular vote, but the Electoral College of that state gave him a victory.

And no, he won't make excuses. It'll be this again: "The terrorists are why we're not making progress like we should, and that's why we should stay." And as expected, the congressional authority through either the DLC or Halliburton--I don't know who runs the government any more, but it certainly isn't the citizens--will grant Bush his blank check one more time once more.

What we're fighting over there isn't terrorism. It's an insurgency. What does that mean? Insurgency. Maybe that means a surge? Instead of making ourselves look weak, President Bush, or General Patraeus, or someone, orders a troop surge to make the U.S look like the big bully here.

Troop surge? Voila, insurgency. We have gotten absolutely nowhere in Iraq as far as flexing our military muscle goes. Our push lead them to push back with equal or greater force.

Petraeus is one of the Yes-men who survived the purge of the ethical generals prior to the start of the War of Lies.
I expect nothing but a reiteration of the Bushiato's lies in his report.
